Wow! So simple to set up, thanks! Now I can save my planes from crashing while teaching new pilots. Only took three planes to learn this, happy landings everyone…
When you bind the dxe to your master transmitter does all your presets transfer over to the trainor dxe transmitter, such as your expos and dual rates?
With my DX6 is it possible to control another brushless from a switch leaving active the first brushless controlled by the stick throttle ???? THANK YOU
This beginner did really well for what seems like a windy day. Great demonstration of the "trainer/buddy" setup. As a new flyer I'm definitely going to look for someone to help with my Aeroscout after watching this video. The description was very clear (none of those confusing words like "left rudder" or "flair the landing" ) . I wonder how long it would take for a beginner to learn the basics using the trainer system.
It was quite a windy day, but the Aeroscout is actually a great plane for these conditions. Funny thing about "flair the landing" - that's something I try to do when I'm landing, but when this beginner was landing, he just cut the throttle, and you know what... the Aeroscout made it look good! It's a very beginner-friendly plane because it's so stable (and conversely not all that acrobatic). If you have a more experienced pilot with you on the master controls, you could probably learn how to fly this plane using just one battery pack! Just make sure you have sufficient space for it, because you do need to give it a good amount of power for takeoff. If you're not careful, it could quickly get out of the boundaries of a typical baseball or soccer field.
Use the PILOT LINK MASTER or you will have issues... Just trying to save you some issues down the road. It will work on the the other one he selected but everything has to be the same. EVERYTHING!!!
Awesome.. But you do need to setup the dx6 and bind it to the aeroscout first and then link the dxe to the dx6 right? OR can you do it the other way around? That way I dont need to program my dx6 I believe? Im asking because I have a rtf aeroscout on its way for my son and I fly with the dx6 and the aeroscout is bound and setup ready to fly with the dxe out of the box. Mvh Pierre
You need to bind your dx6 to the Aeroscout. To go back to using the rtf transmitter with the aerosciut that transmitter will have to be rebound to the plane. That will require a bund plug.
I had the same question. I have a dx6 g3 that I fly with. I want to use it as the master for a rtf model that’s all setup and bound with a dxe. I have to bind the plane to my dx6 and setup the model? Then bind the dxe as a trainer? Correct? Thanks, new to wireless training
The manual tells you how to set up a DX or NX transmitter the same as the supplied transmitter. Would it not be better to use Pilot Link Instructor (Master) and set the master override to "active". No need to program the student radio and all the student gets are the sticks (enough pilot load for a beginner). The Instructor Transmitter controls all the rest from motor cutoff to rates. This way the instant the student makes a mistake the instructor takes over by moving the sticks to save the plane. No need to release a button. The students regains control only after I flick switch A once the plane has been restored to level flight. This is my preferred method
can anyone explain the difference between the two trainer modes....... " programable master " and "pilot link master "....and which mode is the simplest to use...not wanting to create an entire new program or profile on the Slave Tx... but just want give the student temporary control of the sticks...thank you
Question: I am the beginner who has the DX6 with the programing and the trainer plane ...how can I link my Tx to the more experienced pilots DX8.......thanks
That setup process should be even easier than what I showed here, as you'll have a screen on both. Just look through the menu items on both transmitters for the trainer options. The setting I used in the video for the DX6 is what you'd use for the DX8 in your situation.
I didn't have a profile on the DXe, which was in the hands of the "student". If it's an issue, just swap transmitters with your friend for your flight.
@@TheTechBuyersGuru yes, I could swap radios, but was wondering if there was a simple way to make his DX9 the master, without having him create an entire program in his TX for my plane...thanks again
Programmable Master Programmable mode enables you to program the master transmitter to transfer any or all individual channels when you activate the trainer switch. This mode is ideal for beginners learning to control individual channels while the master transmitter maintains control of all other channels. The slave transmitter should be in Inhibit mode, if available. The Master and Slave transmitters MUST have the same programming. Pilot Link Master Pilot Link Master enables you to program the master transmitter to transfer any or all individual channels when you activate the trainer switch. Pilot Link Master is ideal for complex models, as the master transmitter maintains control of all secondary functions, such as flight modes, retracts, flaps and brakes. Secondary functions can be individually assigned to the Slave transmitter as necessary. It is not necessary to have model programming in the slave transmitter
Can I ask, when the slave has control, can they change rates, motor arm or flight mode (SAFE/AS3X) via the switches that were originally assigned on the master?
Yes, they absolutely can. In fact, I recently used the slave/master for exactly this purpose. I had someone on the Slave control flying without SAFE, and I would immediately flip to Master as soon as I saw trouble, and because I was in SAFE mode, the plane would self-correct. I didn't even need to save it (and in some cases, there would be no way for me to).
@@TheTechBuyersGuru hi. The slave is out production. Do you know if I buy 2 spectrums 5 can I have master and slave?.. Thanks for video and a new follower from Canada.
I have an Apprentice Sts RTF. Can that transmitter be used to teach grandson if I buy spectrum dx6 gen 3 or the dx8 I just bought arrow Husky Bf so I need a new transmitter anyway and receiver.

Great job demonstrating how to set up the wireless trainer function.
I like that you can assign it to any switch of your preference and don't have to hold the volume button down the entire flight
Great job! Thank you!
Clear, simple, solid instructions.
Thank you!
You used Programmable Master option
how is it different from the Pilot link Maser option ???

What if you dont have a computer radio?
Just two dxs transmitters.
Thanks for making this video! I'm going to try setting this up with my DX6e
Will the expo and dual rates be the same as whats on my transmitter for that particular craft?
Very clear demo. Thank you.
When you bind the dxe to your master transmitter does all your presets transfer over to the trainor dxe transmitter, such as your expos and dual rates?
Do I need to buy extra part using DXs?
Wow! I had know idea it was that simple. I have the same setup and always wanted to be able to do this. Thanks!!!
Glad I could help!

Can this be done the other way? I have a DXE that's bound to a plane and I want to buddy box my DX6 to the DXE.
Yes it can. Will even work with two DXe transmitters, but you'll want to follow the steps carefully as there's no screen or voice prompts.
@@TheTechBuyersGuru I don't think so as the Dxe doesn't have the wireless trainer mode. Dx6 etc WITH wireless trainer has to be the master .

Yes, if the Apprentice RTF came with a DXe, you can buy a new DX6/DX8 and use it as the master with the DXe as the slave.
