    I am in the UK, I really don't mind the annoying issues! More than half of them is relating to the app, which we don't have. Very practical for me, I charge mainly at home every few days .. always reliable in that aspect. Don't need to go to a petrol station anymore, which is a plus nowadays. I wholeheartedly recommend it if you don't do long journeys frequently.
    I think while you are with the MG, will be helpful if you do more videos about the car.

    10 things I hate about my model 3:
    ■ Seat belt is trying to strangle me
    ■ You have to engage autopilot constantly when driving on the freeway (I don't have FSD)
    ■ Sometimes it takes forever to wake up the car from the app
    ■ For the price it should be way more soundproof
    ■ It starts to break (well, regen) way too soon on cruise control, even when set to the shortest distance
    ■ I use PIN to drive - why do I need to press "allow" after entering all 4 digits?! Even my phone knows when I am done entering my PIN code and automatically continues
    ■ Tesla service is .. not great
    ■ Music volume is not lowered when navigation instructions are being read
    ■ If I use the drop down status/notification bar on android I can open frunk/trunk with 1 click - if I do it from the app it needs confirmation - why?!
    ■ If I charge, it finishes and the car goes to sleep, I cannot unlock the charge port without waking the car up
    Then there's the car sometimes not going to sleep, having to reboot it every now and then and other weird software issues. Tesla should really feature freeze the car and start removing all the bugs instead.

    • @RonsonDenmark
      @RonsonDenmark 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @bochap21 No, if you do it from the car it is one click. If you drag down the status/notification bar in android it is also one click.
      But if you open the app and try to open the frunk/trunk there you need to confirm it, so 2 clicks.

      @@haveaseatplease Well the soundproofing is not bad as such, especially in city or country road driving (0-80 km/h), but on the motorway (110-130 km/h) it sounds like my old Kia Ceed from 2009 which cost $30.000 less

      Lane departure is a nightmare. I have the ioniq. On my first day it steered me back into a massive pothole at 50mph which I was avoiding by nearing the edge of my lane. The two bangs were horrendous. I hadn't realized that it always goes back on when you turn off the car. Really dangerous feature.

    I have a 2019 Niro EV in Canada bought almost a year ago. Only a few hundred imported. Auto Hold (car is held in placed when stopped by the brake) setting is turned off when car starts. I can see turning it off for some situations but why not keep it on. No spare tire,no jack, just a leak kit. For a long extended trip I would worry. There is room to stow a compact spare kit if bought one. My model has a moon roof which I find useless. The brake calipers were large enough so that my 16" snow tires on steel rims from the Toyota won't fit. Needed 16 " alloys. The odd time android auto when playing music will flip to the radio for a few seconds. I have the UVO (Kia app) which has an LTE Sim to connect to the car to get car information, adjust settings, heat, cooling, etc. It is relatively slow (30 seconds slow?) to make a change and report back that it is successful. Some weird readings like reporting the charge setting level is 110‰🤔
    Front port to charge is great except it can get snow or ice int the cover and could freeze and be a pain if you are away from home and need to charge. The adaptive Radar control can be blocked by ice or slush. Much to love otherwise. ❤️

    Thanks Bjorn, you are the reason why I am a new Tesla mod 3 owner. But there are things to improve. I am used to adaptive cruise control since many years and it's not working well in Tesla.
    Traffic-Aware Cruise Control:
    When activating it should set to the actual speed and not to the detected speed limit. It doesn’t work well.
    When reactivating the cruise control it should return to the latest activated speed, not to the detected speed limit.
    When quickly rolling the right scrolling wheel it should change 10 km/h, not 5.
    Adjusting following distance:
    The longest distance, 7, is too close to traffic ahead.
    In my opinion seven steps to adjust the following distance are way too much. Four or five steps are enough.

      @MarmiteTheDog 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Baisemannen Yes, I have done that. It seems MG in Thailand use another proprietary app to connect your phone to the car, but its pretty useless. They expect the driver to use the built-in navigation system.
      I guess that's kinda OK, as no one is really going to take a long trip in one of these cars, especially in Thailand, where even if you drive from MG dealer to MG dealer in order to use their (free) fast chargers, not all of them have been commissioned yet. Public charging is virtually nonexistent outside of Bangkok.

    Something that drives me nuts about my e-Golf is that it insists on locking the charge flap and the charge connector, and unlocking the doors stops charging, it almost seems random sometimes. I have had a couple of cases where I was at a public station that required an app or a card to start charging, then after starting the charge I realized I left something inside the car so when I opened the door it stopped charging and I had to start the whole charging process over again. Very annoying.
    My Chevy Volt does the same triple honk that your MG does when the key is left in the car, I agree that is it annoying and even embarrassing at times.

    Not using regen to brake when cruise control is enabled should be a crime!
    .
    If you're using cruise control downhill you could potentially death by brake failure.
    .
    Even in fossil cars you need to use engine break to go downhill. I don't own a car with cruise control so I don't know if it will use engine break automatically.

    • @daveamies5031

    I got the 2020 Kona with app and hopefully it's got more features coming because while I like scheduling climate controls and lock/unlock the car, the missing feature allowing online driving privilege is missing like on Tesla's.
    The app visual has a vehicle that's not a Kona, hopefully the next revision has the actual representation of the car rather than some rando generic car. And if anybody knows how to remove the terms of service screen with confirm button that comes on each time the car starts, that would be great.

  • @Matrixu
    @Matrixu 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Smart for2. It doesn't have an app to manage it in my country. Second is that the radio and car have different clocks and both of them are rubbish. They will lose time and get of of sync so you constantly have to adjust them. You can set it for pre cooling/heating over night and there are times when it just passes the time and will not start. The rad use has no use since it brakes very slow so you automatically crash if you use it and the car infront brakes harder.

    I have a 2020 40kwh Leaf. the main thing I am disappointed in is the screen that pops up in the infotainment screen that requires you to hit OK every time you start the car. Surely once is enough.
    Also the constant beeping when a door is open. There should be a way to disable this as there are times when you need to have the door open, such as cleaning the inside, Vacuum and the such. Otherwise great car, love it.

  • @TheSeanUhTron
    @TheSeanUhTron 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have a Gen 1 Chevy Volt right now, and honestly, most of the things I don't like about it are software. Mostly the infotainment system. Otherwise, the drive train is great and the build quality is decent. My biggest gripe with the infotainment system is that it has to "Index" the music in the USB drive every time I start the car. So 2-3 minutes after starting the car that I can't change the music. I can pause and sometimes skip songs, but I can't change to another album or artist. So if I want to switch to listening to a different album, I have to do it while driving, or while stopped at a red light; Which I don't like doing. Also, the Bluetooth music is almost unusable. Every time I start the car, it forgets that it was connected to Bluetooth music and starts playing the radio. So I have to wait for BT to connect, then switch to BT music0. Then it will usually forget what song/album it last played and will just start from the beginning of my music library. I drove a Prius of a similar year and BT music worked perfectly on it. But Chevy really screwed it up.

    I agree with all the point, excluding the App related points which as an owner of a UK European model I would excuse (for a time at least), if only we had App support over here in European markets. Of course, I would add to the pre-cooling frustration that in Europe, unlike Thailand, we have heating and there is no preheating! Although having been through a mild UK winter I did find that the Resistive Heater very effective and the Heated Seats Too Hot! The heated seats seem to have been an ill-conceived afterthought having 1 high power setting how hard would it have been to put a two or three-stage heater then in winter you could drive with lower cabin heat setting. I feel a heater control home-brew modification coming on before next winter ;-) Most probably a relay and timer arrangement possibly using the same 12v powered WiFi controlled, eBay sourced, module that controls the timed PodPoint AC charging I use.
    The aggressive Bongs when lane keeping of any description is frustrating to the point of turning it off for every journey other than dual-carriageway highways, (pre lockdown of course when such things were possible), which given the range of the MG, it is not intended to be used for lots of long road trips. Why Oh WHY is MG Pilot on by default since every long trip, when it might prove to be a "driving aid", since every trip begins with a local rural road or city street where the aggressive 'Tugs' on the steering and Bongs are both disconcerting and distracting if not dangerous. My wifee describe the effect to be "like driving on ice" and I agree that the unexpected and almost random steering input is like hitting standing water or black ice in a car of 1970's vintage.
    I look forward to your extended MG ZS EV road trip in a European model and your comparative review.

    Tesla Model 3
    1- When playing music from a USB device, it never remembers the folder you were in and there's no way to go back to it after the car was asleep. You'll have to navigate back from the root, even though it's still plaxing the songs from said folder normally.
    2- It should really come from the factory with a power liftgate and powered frunk. I always cringe when I have to push down on the hood to close the frunk, but I love using it otherwise.
    3- EDIT, another thing I forgot to mention: I really hate the automatic high-beams on the model 3. half of the time it mistakes a reflective street-sign as another car and dim them, then go back to high and dim again and so on.. and the other half, then they detect oncoming cars way too late and I have to manually dim them. so most of the time I just don't use them. they are the most annoying thing about the car I would say.
    Other than that I really can't complain much. And that's complaining on a high level.
    The USB thing can be fixed with an update and there's aftermarket solutions for the trunk/frunk.

    My Kia Niro EV:
    1. I feel like things slide around in the trunk a bit too easily
    2. Seatbelts seem to get twisted very easily after people take them off. When they are twisted, they make very annoying rattling noises.
    3. Coldgate
    4. If you want the privilege of preheating your car with the app, after the free trial expires you must pay $200+ per year for the feature.
    5. Lane Departure Warning is useless. The only time it makes noises is when I am intentionally leaving the lane (e.g. to avoid a bicyclist to my right). The noises sometimes startle me. I feel like it makes me less safe, so I disabled it.
    6. Lane Keep Assist is also annoying. It tries to steer me back in between the lines when I have a specific reason for wanting to move partway out of my lane to avoid something, e.g. traffic cones. Thankfully this could also be disabled.
    7. No proximity warning when reversing. This only comes with the premium model for $5,500 more.
    8. Blind spot warning does not consistently light up when vehicles are in my blind spots.
    9. Blind spot warning lights up sometimes because of cars behind me in my lane, when the road is curved.
    10. The drivetrain is somewhat noisy compared to other EVs I've been in.

    The most annoying thing about my 2015 e-Up is, that it has no door control units. That means, you cannot let the windows up or down with the key fob, as with almost all VAG Group cars (its called "comfort locking") Not even when you put the key in the door lock, turn it and keep it turned. Not even the 2020 can do that ... Even my 2005 Skoda Octavia could do that 🤷‍♂️

    I have a question. Today i did a test drive in a hyundai kona electric. It was a pleasure to drive it. I learned alot about the kona from the man in the hyundai dealer. But he told me also about the one paddle drive. If you must change the break you must change a complete unit because of the one paddle system. He know some people with Nissan leafs that had to change the left and right brakes so the complete units. That had to pay €8000. I ask him is that also with the Kona or Ionic? He tells me that they got the same system it didn’t happend but it could be . So lets say tou buy a 2015 leaf for 15.000€ and you drive it 2 years. And the. You have tp change the units.. 8.000€.. or you wait for the Kona or the ionic until that cars are 15.000 or 20.000 and you have the same problem.. i don’t like that. Do you know something about this?

      @ruedigerpreiss9307 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've driven the Kona electric for over a year, 25k miles and the brakes are 5% worn, so doing a bit of maths, you'd need to drive the car for 300.000 miles to get 60% wear LOL. Not sure what he means by "one pedal system", but there is no one-pedal system in the Kona. You can adjust recuperation with paddle shifters on the steering wheel, which brakes with the motor not the brake pads on discs (unless the car is fully charged). Not sure what you mean by "complete units" ?? Brake pads and discs? Those certainly don't cost more than a couple of hundred quid...

Also, the car has 90000km and the breaks are like new. Well, I have to force the car to use the friction breaks once in a while to remove the rust from the discs.

Has some black piano cheap plastic, not possible to setup any charge parameter like max charge percentage, not possible to have a trailer and this is bad as this small car is perfect in the country side to move a lot of things around as it has a lot of room inside when you lower the back seats.

    - Charging literally impossible with Ecotricity chargers (UK)
    - Phone has to be plugged in to use Android Auto / iPlay, which can get the phone quite hot when using SatNav and music streaming etc.
    - No soft pads for storage spaces & cup holders - surely these can't be too expensive for a £35000 car?!

    2. Lack of app in EU? Doesn't concern me, car is always parked overnight in garage and can be heated in utility mode during the day with no time limit (shutoff at 20% battery). No Sentry mode. fixed with great Blackvue 2ch camera system with dedicated battery and live view app with WIFI dongle.

    Not having an app is annoying with the old Ioniq, but I'm not sure if it's better that way. Might be some shitty app like from some other manufacturers.
    All the beeps can also be annoying. After a while your know what the beeps mean, but they will still scare the heck out of passengers.
    You can't change the regen level while in cruise control mode. It won't change anything, but sometimes I want to turn off cruise control and it starts with hard regen. Would be nice if the setting could be lowered before turning it off.

    15.000 km service interval is really annoying. Going to the garage every 6 months.
    Automatic windscreen wiper also is annoying me a lot.
    Automatic lights are so slow. If you go through a really short tunnel it will turn in the light when you have already left the tunnel. Then it takes some time and it will turn it off. But I noticed on other Hyundai's, it's the same with them.

    Annoying things about my EV (VW E-Golf):
    1) Climate control resets temperature to 22°C and set it to auto w/o AC. It doesn't remember previous setting (temperature or fan speed).
    2) Can only change settings when the car is on, but in park. So. key must be in the car to change any setting. Because it's touch screen, it doesn't let passenger change the settings while vehicle is in motion / drive.
    3) Most of the time, to remove the charge cable from level 2 or DC quick charge requires door lock/unlock cycle.
    4) Top speed at 85MPH is adequate for most driving situations, except when you're on the highway trying to pass an a-hole Californian driver who speeds up in parallel to prevent passing, then slows down when you get behind 'em.
    5) Low-res backup camera basically useless at night.
