Further to this, I should add that the original series on BBC of the Last of the Mohicans was filmed mainly in Glen Affric, one of my most loved and beautiful parts of Scotland. The scenery is fabulous. One of my abiding memories of this place (I was much younger then) was camping in Glen Affric and climbing 3 Monroes in a day. The middle one was the highest, by a few tens of feet and it was a beautiful clear summer day. On one side you could clearly see the tops of the Cuillins on Skye, whilst on the other was visible the Moray Firth. In other words, you could see right across Scotland at this point.

@@pohkeee no. The trees in the US were so big. They had a way of burning a tree without setting the forest on fire. It was less labor intensive. They didn't have to chop it down with an ax, which took hours. Most of trails were made by the Native Americans anyway. So, I don't know what trails they blazed, other than widening them. Hehe 😀
Yes and Glen Affric is highland scotland, belonging to the Scottish people. The people in this video would fight to stop them speaking their own language etc. Lowland people, and English are not native to the islands, and they would wipe the natives out given the chance, dont think they wouldn't.
This sent chills up my spine. I live in the mountains where this movie was filmed...when i hear this music, i see the mountains, when i watch the sun rise over the mountains, i hear this music.
Amazing piece of music. Everything is so dramatic in the flow. When the Pipes burst in, it’s almost overwhelming. All this contained within the incomparable setting of Edinburgh Castle. I so wish I had been there, it would have been a major, never to be forgotten experience.
I listen to this music composed in America and celebrated in Scotland. It was so well orchestrated and who doesn’t like bagpipes finishing off the piece. Hats to my Scottish brothers. Great performance in a magical setting!
The music is The Gael, composed by Scottish musician Dougie McLean in 1990. The American movie Last of the Mohicans adapted McLean's piece for its soundtrack.
I can't explain it , but this tune gets me deep down in my being . It is almost like it vibrates in tune with my own deep conciseness , I feel it more than just hear it . I wish I had words to express what it does to me .
Good music of any genre is beyond description- i.e. words. Can never explain it, just enjoy it. Whatever it “speaks” to you is for your interpretation only. And indeed, this masterpiece too rocks my being to its core.

This anthemic piece of music is moving, emotional and enormously romantic, I first heard it as soundtrack to “Last of the Mohicans” back in 2012, when I was in a state of deep sadness and loneliness following my mother’s death. I fell passionately in love with Daniel Day-Lewis, who plays the film’s hero, and followed him online for all of 48 hours until I read about what he’s actually like - that was the end of that! I soldiered on with everyday life and then, out of the blue, I met a lovely guy for real and we’ve been blissfully together ever since. I’ve stopped hankering after fantasies, but my heart still beats faster when I hear this marvellous, evocative music.

Years ago, I told a friend of mine that we would be visiting Edinburgh while on a tour of Scotland and Ireland. He strongly suggested that we make every effort to see the tattoo at the castle. Long story made short, we managed to secure tickets at the last minute. It was one of the highlights of our trip. The ending to the night was both poetic and spine tingling. If you ever get the chance, see it. You`ll thank me.

I think there’s a certain fascination with bagpipes in America. I could listen to them all day. Maybe it stems back to my ancestry? The Last of The Mohicans is one of my favorite movies as well. Thank you for posting this. I will follow The Gael to hear their gorgeous sounds. ❤️
I was fortunate enough to have seen a marching band with bagpipes in full uniform inside Edinburgh Castle 20 years ago, we were the few tourists left inside the walls once the ceremony began. It was truly the standout memory of my 2 weeks of hiking in Scotland
The movie, the music, this Gael performance are all entirely magical. Years ago when I lived in East Tennessee my trail riding group went to the Dupont State Forest in North Carolina for a beautiful horseback ride (I believe Dupont is between Asheville and Brevard). The movie was largely filmed there and one trail we rode allowed us a beautiful view of that waterfall in the movie. How special! In addition, in 2019 our older daughter and I were in Edinburgh and visited the castle. We just missed the Military Tattoo and in fact they were still dismantling the scaffolding for the stands. Was disappointed.
The film is gorgeous, but this piece of music is EPIC! I can picture the scenes in my minds eye listening to it. Dougie McLean.< = Composer or the original music.
Last of the Mohicans - a masterpiece and probably Daniel Day Lewis’s best movie - Rriv Schweig just as amazing! If you have not watched this movie do so - you will be ever so grateful that you gave yourself an experience that are out of the world - cinematography just superb!!!!!

I took part in one Tattoo when I was in the 1st. Troop cadets of the Royal Scots Greys in the 1950's. That was when the US Marines performed one of their memorable marching routines. I remember particularly the lone piper on the battlements of the Castle who always brought everything to a close.

@@billofrightsamend4 : …and the term blazing a trail comes from Scottish explorers making gashes on the trees to mark the trails.
There is one thing we should be really proud and this it our military forces bands. They are just superb
Spot on.
The RM Band are truly the best I've had the pleasure to watch.
If you are interested, seek out their Gladiator performance
Protectors of people, fine musicians.. beautiful violin solo.. beautiful ambush of bagpipes. Beautiful everything. Composed in our lifetime. 🌿❤🌿
I listen to this music composed in America and celebrated in Scotland. It was so well orchestrated and who doesn’t like bagpipes finishing off the piece. Hats to my Scottish brothers. Great performance in a magical setting!
didnt we run you guys out of canada in 1814?
The music is The Gael, composed by Scottish musician Dougie McLean in 1990. The American movie Last of the Mohicans adapted McLean's piece for its soundtrack.
The music was composed by Scottish musician and songwriter Dougie McLean in Scotland
Same bro, same
Lo has definido perfectamente. A mi me sucede lo mismo. Me extremece y me pone "la piel de gallina" y también alguna lágrima. No hay palabras🙏
U r truly an awakening happening in real life

A wonderful piece.
I t goes underneath the skin. Class. 5⭐
Remember this piece was written by a Scot and used for the movie It is called The Gael
As an ex serviceman. Our numbers have been decimated. Thankfully
we've still got a band and the Red Arrows. We can all sleep safely.
Just like to add I'm joking.
Modern warfare doesn’t need a large number of soldiers. The future of warfare is A.I
Well done! The US Marines never cease to amaze. This was truly a blessing.
Those are not US Marines.
This band is THE ROYAL MARINES. (British not American).
Except these are the Royal Marines 😂😂. They're British 🇬🇧
Amo ese tema, amé el filme, he amado todas las versiones que he escuchado...todas me han tocado el alma.. gracias ❤
Just curious, what did you find out about what Daniel Day Lewis is like?
@@JT-tr5cz He's a glorious method actor and that's all there is to that.
🏴😊
I'm curious to know what you found out about DDL that was so awful??
@@caroldonaldson5936 That he becomes his characters and he's absolutely amazing in every film he's been in. _Last of Mohicans_, STELLAR... _Gangs of New York_ PHENOMENAL... _There Will be Blood_ UNFORGETTABLE. Yeah, he's one of the best there ever was and likely ever will be. And, he's freaking Irish. You simply can't make this stuff up. The dude is the best. lol I think, honestly, what this lady learned, was that she would never have an opportunity to date the man, and she probably preferred him younger.
Can't believe I've watched it more than 30 times already in 3 days😭😭
This is a gorgeous rendition of a sweeping soundtrack
My favorite movie of all time because of the exquisite marriage of the score and the cinematography!
You`ll thank me.
i think you will find it is the uk and ireland
Gives me chills…. Such an epic masterpiece.
Beautifully done! The soundtrack was amazing for that great movie!
I am completely and utterly emotionally and spirally stirred to the core of my very soul.
GOD bless Scotland's Marines Tattoo. The solo violinist is perfection personified.
GOD bless especially the all of the Scots.
The Royal Marines are British.
A classic piece of music performed beautifully 😊😊long live the bagpipes 😊
Excelente interpretación, felicitaciones
Bravissimi. Grande Scozia.
Imagine being one of these musicians playing, wow!!
Love this version so much I can’t stop playing it. Would love it for my wedding or at my funeral to leave people with happy faces!👌❤️🏴❤️
I am a "duke's mixture" of English, Scottish, Irish and who knows what else LOL. Never been to any of those countries, don't know much about their cultures, but deep down in my DNA, those pipes just get my heart pumping!😀
The intro of the bagpipes sensational.
For my mum and dad in the heavens above see ya soon.
Just an absolutely beautiful music piece
I was at that performance. Magnificent. Similar emotion at the end of Riverdance.
Golden. I sat there for the Tattoo a couple years later. Magical. #clangordon
The first time I saw the movie, fell in love with the musical score. So beautiful.
Proud to be British! Absolutely wonderful.
Gold. The bagpipes are heaven. Reminding me of my military brat childhood.
So inspiring...thank you.
You guys rock!!! Love it! Respect from a Turk who is a distant relative of original Americans.
Loved the movie, the theme music and I think Danial Day Lewis is (retired) a fine actor.
This must’ve been absolutely incredible live. Love this. One of the best soundtracks ever.
That movie theme gives you goose bumps...absolutely great!!!
My goodness this is superb. My heart bursts with pride seeing this .I feel so lucky to hear this . 💓
Magnificently performed!! An amazing piece of music that always brings me to an almost reverent place in my heart. Thank you!
I used to go with my parents to the Edinburgh Tattoo when I was young, we used to cheer the different teams on when they would be climbing up on things, it was great excitement. Now I live in Australia so I watch it on TV. I love the pipes and drums. Keep it up guys. Thank you.
I took part in one Tattoo when I was in the 1st. Troop cadets of the Royal Scots Greys in the 1950's. That was when the US Marines performed one of their memorable marching routines. I remember particularly the lone piper on the battlements of the Castle who always brought everything to a close.
Mi Favorite movie Favorite soundtrack n brilliant 👏 the way Royal Marines played em. Hello from India 🇮🇳
Everytime i listen to this Song i become goosebumps all over my Body and tears in my eyes.
Sublime.
Every time I hear the RM’s I choke nd think of my late father who served in the RN for 16 years.
This at the EMT with Pipers - wow!
