Modern Sonic having the drop dash is neat but it legitimately looks like a mod. There's no sound effect tied to it and it just reuses the Jump spin effect.. despite Sonic having an actual rolling animation whenever he hits a dash panel while boosting.
And having to use it after an airdash that halts all momentum feels counter-intuitive. The whole point of the dropdash was to maintain your speed after losing some in a jump, but in this, it is slower than just landing normally and walking after a jump. That's not even taking the boost into consideration.
@I.Am.Terrible.At.Usernames it's not bad persay. It's just weird. Modern sonic never had an issue with momentum. I confess I'm impressed. Gamescom is already difficult to recording, so the fact you did this makes me a little jealous but also impressed. Also we'll done I got an S rank too!
Classic Sonic having drop dash on generations Me: oh yeah that's good yeah really good Modern Sonic having drop dash on generations Me: wow that's really unnecessary and shitty
I get why they needed to do it, but couldn’t they get Laura Bailey to come back to do the new Omochao lines, like they got Kate Higgins to come back to voice Tails in Sonic Colors: Ultimate? Seemed like a better option than to replace her outright.
Laura has become more mainstream in terms of western video games/animation, she basically got too popular to keep voicing in Japanese related projects, same thing happened to Troy Baker. Not to mention being a part of the Critical Role (which is basically a full-time job at this point), she doesn't have a lot of time to come back for her older roles.
oh hey, Omochao has a "new(?)" voice. kinda glad they changed it. the old one was perfectly fine for me (i sealed my fate right there.), i feel like he needed a deeper voice, kinda like in sa2, but that was too deep. (also, weird how sega is now rewriting history that now sonic ALWAYS had the spindash AND the dropdash....now that i'm complaining.....SEGA PLZ BRING BACK THE PEEL-OUT.)
Hold up, did they redo all the Omochao lines or did Tails' VA always do them? I always had Omochao off due to annoyance, but it seems super passable here! =O
The drop dash for modern Sonic is unnecessary and useless, I don't know why the developers insists putting this move if it's almost certain that nobody will use this. Another thing that I don't get it. If Sonic Team is using Hedgehog Engine 2 to improve the graphics of the original Generations part, why the shadows of the characters and some objects of these stages are in 90° and are not projected in relation to the sun? In Shadow's stages the shadows are projected correctly. I know that Sonic Team downgraded the graphics in the original game to prioritize the frame rate but nowadays it's unnecessary.
Why did they think it would be a good idea to put modern’s drop dash on his slow Air Dash? Putting it as an air version of drift could have number much better.
I have a question. Is there an option that you can change back to the original sonic generations controls for modern Sonic? Like instead of R2 to boost, you use square and homning attack by pressind X 2 times instead of the unleashed homing attack style?!
Yes, I recorded a video of its configurable controls in one of my tweets here: x.com/StartZ_HHK/status/1826669646084538701?t=8BgNUjgGy_TsQGYTKjnhHg&s=19 And in this playthrough, I used the X-button 2 times fof Jump > Homing Attack
I know it's an off Screen recording but something really is off with the graphics and I can notice alot of differences such as the controls and Omochao's tutorial lines
I watched this video and was shocked. No, not because of the Dropdash of Classic Sonic! If anyone did not know, then home-made mechanics were planned back in the 90s, but they were removed only after «Sonic Mania». And I saw a separate mod for «SG», where they improve physics and added new skills. BUT MODERN SONIC'S DROPDASH?! WHY?! Was it really necessary?! What the hell?! This is an unnecessary innovation that no one needs in such a gameplay!

the drop dash for modern sonic is fine but i don't like the idea of jumping, then air dash into drop dash and classic sonics drop dash feels stiff and it's not as fast as the one from sonic mania
I want Roger to do his Frontiers voice of Sonic in Sonic Twitter Takeover 8, TailsTube and Sonic X Shadow Generations.
They give him the ability he has in frontiers but less useful
Drop dash for Classic Sonic looks fun and cool! For Modern Sonic, I do NOT like how (it seems like) you're forced to do an air dash (or homing attack) before drop dashing. Hoping there will be a way to remap drop dash to a different button (or that there might be a patch addressing this.)
am i going crazy or did they change omochaos voice
I confess I'm impressed. Gamescom is already difficult to recording, so the fact you did this makes me a little jealous but also impressed. Also we'll done I got an S rank too!
Damn how is the sound so clear!
Classic Sonic having drop dash on generations
Me: oh yeah that's good yeah really good
Modern Sonic having drop dash on generations
Me: wow that's really unnecessary and shitty
Imagine if there are skills sonic can unlock from past games like for example sonic the fighters skills
Green hill's looking a lot more like green hills right now
oh hey, Omochao has a "new(?)" voice. kinda glad they changed it. the old one was perfectly fine for me (i sealed my fate right there.), i feel like he needed a deeper voice, kinda like in sa2, but that was too deep.
(also, weird how sega is now rewriting history that now sonic ALWAYS had the spindash AND the dropdash....now that i'm complaining.....SEGA PLZ BRING BACK THE PEEL-OUT.)
Will be one of the greatest sonic's game in history, but i want sonic adventure 3 so bad...
Sooo what the use of the drop dash if classic sonic has an op spin dash and modern sonic just boost all day
Well at least Omochao's voice sounds different meaning the cutscenes will be revoiced.
Hold up, did they redo all the Omochao lines or did Tails' VA always do them?
I always had Omochao off due to annoyance, but it seems super passable here! =O
THEY ADDED DROP DASH :0000
Oh, did they change omochao's voice?
Where the drift button?
So they clearly want to keep the drop dash as one of modern Sonic's abilities. Not gonna be that useful but ok 🤷
Ah, so they're bringing back hidden chao from Sonic Advance 3
The drop dash for modern Sonic is unnecessary and useless, I don't know why the developers insists putting this move if it's almost certain that nobody will use this.
Another thing that I don't get it. If Sonic Team is using Hedgehog Engine 2 to improve the graphics of the original Generations part, why the shadows of the characters and some objects of these stages are in 90° and are not projected in relation to the sun? In Shadow's stages the shadows are projected correctly.
I know that Sonic Team downgraded the graphics in the original game to prioritize the frame rate but nowadays it's unnecessary.
Drop dash like in Clasic Sonix Improvement mod for Generations
It seems like the drop dash is inferior compared to the spin dash in this game
Why did they think it would be a good idea to put modern’s drop dash on his slow Air Dash? Putting it as an air version of drift could have number much better.
A new Omoachao voice
You can collect choas now even classic sonic can?
I have a question. Is there an option that you can change back to the original sonic generations controls for modern Sonic? Like instead of R2 to boost, you use square and homning attack by pressind X 2 times instead of the unleashed homing attack style?!
Yes, I recorded a video of its configurable controls in one of my tweets here: x.com/StartZ_HHK/status/1826669646084538701?t=8BgNUjgGy_TsQGYTKjnhHg&s=19
And in this playthrough, I used the X-button 2 times fof Jump > Homing Attack
@@startz_hhkWhat is the "Challenge Tries" option
An option to toggle lives on or off
I know it's an off Screen recording but something really is off with the graphics and I can notice alot of differences such as the controls and Omochao's tutorial lines
Which button is the jump dash and drop dash on? Are they on the homing attack button, the jump button, or both?
oh, they changed the controls for modern sonic to match frontiers
Wow the drop dash blows chunks compared to the sonic generations spin dash
