Let's not jump into conclusions yet becuz we fully haven't seen the other levels. I'm not expecting it to be like Gens level design though.
You sure? It looks way wider than other boost games but looks there's only 1/2 paths most of the time

@@suni08 as long as the shortcuts are challenging to take and shave off a significant amount of time (and actually feel like you’re taking a different route), then I think we’re good

This stage feels like at least 6 or more minutes. SEGA is cooking this game
And fully 3D😭 I wonder how the 2D act would be
Its probably around 3 to 4 since the person playing isnt going too fast really
@@Noexok shadow's physics in shadow generations are a lot slower than sonic's physics in sonic generations. n o wonder it looks slower because its just slower.
also there are many many cuts in this footage

My only complain is that you can't run on the walls of water at the end

Dude i agree that final section in the OG level from 06 was peak for its time and felt like one helluva rush and thrill.
@@darkyozora1222Yeah this version of that moment pales in comparison to the original considering the spectacle that was that section. Now it's just a straight hallway with no water running :/

I love how this is a combination of Sonic and Shadows version of Kingdom Valley. For example, you get the water segments from Shadow, but you also get the mach speed section from Sonic.

Mind you, this is likely only Act 1. We never know how Act 2 will look!

Shadow's Kingdom Valley is pretty much the same as the other 2, only backwards. Silver also plays through the water segments, only on the opposite direction (and, in Sonic's campaign, the Silver section is the same Rouge is playable in Shadow's).
06's levels are built like Adventure 1, where the same maps are played in different ways.

Sonic ‘06 may’ve sucked, but they NAILED the aesthetics.

I love how he turns and sholds out his arms. He kinda does the miles morales thing. He's not quite carefree like sonic but he keeps the devil may care attitude, carving his path.

Is it just me or did Sonic team suddenly remembered how to design peak levels because this seems on par with Generations's level design!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
still not quite as good as base gens imo. not as fast and the alternate paths are mostly just shortcuts through the main path. while most base gens stages have so many paths that each playthrough is different.
but yknow, still looks good. def better than forces and frontiers level design
@@ctpp64 Frontiers had some great levels. Admittedly, many of the good levels are reused from old games, but 4-4, 4-A, 4-B, 4-G and 4-H have some really great level design AND are original (I would've said the same on 4-I, but the anti-gravity somewhat ruins it for me).
this is probably their biggest budget since generations. more budget = more resources / team members = higher quality

@@ctpp64Unleashed does the same thing with shortcuts/alternate paths and that is literally peak boost level design. Almost every if not all 3D sonic games do that (even gens). Also it not being as fast as gens isn’t bad. They’re going for control over speed and even then it still looks fast to me.

Even though the level design truly is peak and the Mach Speed section continues that trend from the rest of the level, I'm honestly very disappointed it doesn't have the completely different feel the original had, not even the amazing music... In the original one it was a climax, the cherry on top of the cake, here it feels like more level. Good level design. But just more level

You can really tell Sonic Team learned from the good feedback of frontiers when making this. This actually makes the boost forma LOOK fun and not overwhelming. I like that the camera zooms in and out depending upon speed and platform maneuvering

Feels cool to see a reimagined version of kingdom valley, where it's a hybrid between everyone stages, platform heavy like silver and sonic, water section from shadow, and the mach speed area from sonic too. Looks honestly great
It's really cool how they pretty much just adapted big chunks of the original stage to work with boost gameplay. 06's stage design was one of the things that was actually really good about that game, and it seems like the current SonicTeam recognizes that.
The remix of Kingdom Valley, the multiple pathways, the Mach Speed section reference...
It's all peak...
I can see this is gonna age very well for a long time
And people will still look at this and be like "mmm this is Sonic forces 2 guys..." 😂
If anything it's a lot closer to Sonic Colors, in a good way
I like how the acceleration gradually increases into a skate and how the lateral movement seems to be more fluid and easy to control.

God man this game looks so good. The Doom Powers look seamless and I'm glad they kept the feel of all three sections intact
The level design feels on par with Gens, which is fucking insane. How does this game keep looking better?!
The fact people are saying "It's just straight lines and Homing Attacks" can't get out of the one "This is just Sonoc Forces" mindset. There's numerous routes, plenty of methods of traversal, shortcuts that reward ingenuity and precision, etc. I'm not jumping to saying it's going to be peak, but the game is absolutely going to be a competent, at worst, experience, and a grand slam at best.
The other people complaining seem to largely be Adventure fanatics, thinking that it's bad just because it's not what they want. I'll admit that the stage Design here seems a bit blocky and open, but the Ark stage we saw handled the stage design better but this still seems fairly competent and even fun from what's been heard.
Critique is completely valid, I can see plenty of things to critique here, nothing's perfect. But it seems like there's a LOT more good than bad here and in other stages.
But it is adventure level design and pretty good design at that but the problem is they’re still using the boost formula instead of letting us roll and spindash with momentum. And don get me wrong I like the boost formula but there were only 2 games that did it justice. And not to mention the graphics look just as bad as forces which as shave because modders have been able to port old stages into frontiers cyberspace and they look amazing.
This looks awesome! Id say the biggest thing that needs change is the water mainly. It needs to be flowing, have an actual texture and lighting map to it, and there needs to be some rippling and splashing when shadow impacts the water. Right now it looks as static and aged as the water slide in SA2's Cannons Core, when the time is stopped

There should be one with Silver.
There is an 06 project called Sonic P06 (Project 06) which fixes many problems from the og game and makes a lot of improvements, the creator ChaosX said he’s going to port this level to P06 which will be coming out soon.
@@mawthesonicfan1877 I already know about P-06, I just want to see what 06 levels will look like in Shadow Gens utilizing the new doom powers. But I really want to see a Shadow 05 Project more.
Look up the STH2006 Project for Generations if you haven't. It's a pretty cool mod that I think you'll like.

I'm pretty worried how this game will turn out. Shadows stages seem to miss the quick reaction inputs and sense of speed Generations had. Some aspects of this game mainly the visuals looks like Forces and Frontiers rather than Generations and i think that might hinder how the game might play like. Especially since this games running on HE2 and they have not yet captured the look and feel of Unleashed/Generations
Even with cuts the stage goes past 4 minutes and he took what looks like the quickest paths every time! Good level design is back??

Finally some actually long boost formula levels.
2:01 This was when you would activate Shadow's Chaos Boost form and destroy anyone who stands in your way. Even could use Chaos Blast. I hope they bring back Chaos Blast. It was well utilized in Shadow's first game but under used in Sonic 06.
Unfortunately I think it’s ONLY Chaos Control in this game, unlike Shadow’s first game where you could use both
at least Doom Spear seems good at taking out enemy formations

@@UltraSTH Yeah, you can see chaos energy enter the meter in the Doom Powers trailer. That and the fact that it would be really redundant considering chaos spear is already multishot.

So far KV is looking pretty good right now. I'm hoping the multiple pathways becomes a staple again. Sonic needs to return to his roots while at the same time continuing to enhance and evolve what made him so great and undying to begin with

THIS IS THE BIGGEST GLOWUP IVE EVER SEEN
This game is shaping up to be amazing! I'm just hoping for three minor fixes.
1. Please for the love of god, have an option to disable the homing reticle sound effect.
2. I don't like the 1 frame pop-in for the wind rails. I hope they end up giving it a proper animation and maybe lower the opacity of them.
3. There does seem to be a few moments in this game from what I've seen where Shadow is just kinda running down a fixed, empty, non eventful path. These stages are a bit empty in terms of Enemy placement. I hope that we see more enemies in the final release.
Other than these small wants, I'm stoked about the game!

4:02, this part is a bit of a disappointment compared to the original game, But the rest of the Level looks genuinely great, I haven't seen a Sonic game be this confident in itself in a long time and I', so happy to see it.

@@bottomtext593 The original 06 and Project 06 levels had Sonic at least running across the inverted waterfall, that would have been an amazing set piece to have in this level.

What did Shadow collect right there? Was that a Red Star Ring or something else?
I think maybe a star ring that was already collected. So maybe that’s why it looks green. I also don’t think it’s a power up because it didn’t do anything.
It’s a new type of collectible, basically you can get three things in each stage: art, music, and one of Gerald’s journal entries
It's all fun and games with the surfing part unti a large pillar start crashing on you in the water.

But the mach speed section looks a bit worse than the original version.
If only Sonic 06 could get remade.. that's my favorite title in the series. I believe that with the right tools, it can be made into sonic adventure 3 like it was supposed to have been, and I know P-06 exists, the devs have been doing great, but something official would be perfect to me
(Also, with the direction that the sonic films are going, I can see Silver being introduced in the fourth. I've been dying to see a film adaptation of Mephiles)
Looks like a pretty solid level, but that final waterfall section is a huge downgrade from the original. That should’ve been more akin to 06 and been a speed based section, not to mention you don’t even run on the water which was such a cool spectacle.

In terms of Level Design.
I agree to be honest, 06’s Kingdom Valley was cool but the Rouge section made me not want to go back, although this is mostly based on Sonic’s Kingdom Valley so maybe i should compare it to that
As for Crisis City, that stage was by far the slowest boost stage in Sonic Generations, it wasn’t bad but you could tell they were trying to match the pacing of 06, but here they actually made it faster
@@UltraSTH No it definitely has an emphasis on Shadow's Version with the water (only it actually looks fun and not slow and tedious with a horrible camera and falling towers).
Even visually, it looks WAY better than the original. It looks much more vibrant and much more spacious. The added chasm fog is a nice touch to.

n o. If a stage goes on too long, it'll get stale, 5 minutes to 7 is the better approach

The level is fantastic, except the final section with the waterfalls... What the hell is that ? So short, linear, and features no interesting branching paths / level design... What a sore note to end such a good level

It's the first one pretty much. Basically we have a new Shadow game that takes place alongside Generations, but Generations is getting remastered with a bit of new content.
My only comment is how awful the water looks like (even compared to Sonic 06) but otherwise I’m excited!
