I've never been into D&D but neca are killing these figures. I know the hasbro d&d figures are from a different thing but the difference in effort put into them vs this is nuts.

Had the same action figure as a kid. The 80s version of course. He was one of my favorites. So yes.

Near import level quality for less than a Legends deluxe figure price. I would love to see NECA do the D& D animated series.

@@suhtangwongThe Mark 1's articulation isn't that impressive , and funny enough, this figure has better/.equally good articulation in many parts than the mark 1 lol. The head mainly.
Strongheart was featured in one episode of the D&D cartoon series as was Warduke. Both characters were part of a toy line produced by Ljn in the 80's. These characters were also featured in an adventure produced by TSR for the D&D game called Quest for the Heartstone. If you look up the cover art for that adventure you will see early renditions of these characters. Recently they were featured in a new adventure called Wild Beyond the Witch Light for D&D's 5th edition, no doubt this was done to nostalgia bait old school players and collectors alike. Grew up with all this D&D S#@t, the cartoon was great, and the game is unreal. Baldurs Gate III is a great representation of the rpg game. Try it if your curious,

I bought this guy purely because he looked cool and I don't have a European style knight on my shelf.....I don't have any Mythic Legions or any others like them but I like the esthetic...I have to say he definitely exceeded my expectations for a Neca figure....they don't always have the best articulation and typically they sorta look pretty but don't move particularly well this guy is great and I may pick up others from their D&D line because of him
Anthony, you have the best lighting of any reviewer. Not sure what you do different, but I've watched probably 4 reviews for this figure, and the color just pops better with your set up.

Is there any chance of you talking to any NECA reps about using vertical hinges? It seems to me that you might be one of the reasons Hasbro started using them on their figures, because they didn’t use to use them before, and you’re one of the only reviewers that has always commented about them in their reviews.
I don't have connections with the designers. They do it correctly sometimes so they know how and can... they just don't some times.
@@AnthonysCustoms I really don't understand where the mental block for some of these designers comes from here, it's just intuitive that hands meant for holding things should move vertically 98% of the time if they can only do one or the other.
Take it for what it's worth, but a poster on the Fwoosh said they asked NECA about the wrists at PowerCon in regards to this specific line and the word was it was an oversight and they're correcting it for whatever the yet to be revealed sixth figure in the line is. I guess we'll know if that's true or not in due time. It is probably my biggest pet peeve with NECA as they're very inconsistent with that specific detail.
I'm not a HasBro, or a Hasbro apologist, but I think it makes sense why Hasbro says it's so expensive to add even the smallest amount of paint to figures. It's something all other toy companies (or just companies in general) have figured out. And that is Hasbro hasn't discovered you can buy paint in wholesale, which is always cheaper than retail.
Hasbro probably sends Dight, or whatever his name is, to Walmart to buy paint, in his own car, using a company credit card. If they want 5 gallons of paint, buying the cheapest brand, that would be about $320 + tax. Dight would probably buy himself a PS5, a TV, some frozen TV dinners with the company credit card, and lie to the Hasbro higher-ups about 5 gallons of paint is over $1K. So, Idk about you guys, but if I were the biggest toy company in the world that makes more money in a month than most families will see in their entire lives, I'd tremble at the thought of spending a thousand dollars worth of paint...

Had several of the LJN toys as a child, loved them. When I saw that neca was going to do this line, I was all in. Hopefully they do my favorite soon (Bowmarc)
I would love a detailed 6 inch scale line of just knight action figures. I feel like you could get some great poses and pictures with it

Whilst I am a doctor of medicine, I am also a fan of medieval literature, having read the brilliant anthologies and works of great writers. I couldn’t care a Scooby-Doo [about] Dungeons and Dragons, but this ‘Generic Knight Guy’ looks so cool! Definitely going to pick this figure up! Well done, NECA!👍

This looks like a $100+ figure and having Mythic Legions i can say that this is a lot better especially on articulation because Mythic Legions doesn't have bicep swivel but really nice paints but this one for the price point? No 1:12 figure comes close to Neca D&D line, mafex, shf, mezco cannot win vs these neca D&D line. Must get figure even I'm not a D&D figure collector I'd still get it. Thanks anthony!

I'm dying for knight figures but the articulation just isn't there yet on this for me
I made mi research on medieval Knight's armors and it happens to be that they were quite flexible and light for being made of metal, do to their plates construction. Knights also trained a lot to be able to do agile maneuvers while mounting a horse.
They weren't known for agility though
I have no affiliation with D&D but these figs are great. I have Warduke but got rid of Grimsword because for the life of me I just could not get him to stand even in vanilla poses! I'll for sure get this guy and that little dwarf hero thats coming out too

The "knights in armor can't move very much" is a misconception. Look up videos of people in full plate armor, rolling about, jumping, running, etc. Armor had to be fitted precisely to a knight, made for him essentially, and to be able to move well, because people had to be able to fight in it! Some were very intricate, with many moving and articulating pieces. Almost like huge, metal action figures!
I long for an action figure like of super poseable, historically-inspired knights. Mythic legions are awesome but they're just not that poseable, and they're also pretty fantasy inspired. I need the figures to be able to grab the swords with two hands, in multiple poses, not just barely being able to. I'm actually in the process of designing my own line like for this, but I have no idea how to actually mass produce it.
I'm actually designing a joint similar to that knee joint for the elbows, as the 'below the bicep' swivel allows the arms to cross into the torso without bumping into the chest. Also thinking if a shoulder ballpeg + swivel hinge could work as a butterfly joint, kinda like Sh figuarts do sometimes.
Answer for question of the day: I don’t know or care much about Dungeons and Dragons at all, and I haven’t bought this figure yet, but I am going to buy it and Warduke as well. They’re are just cool looking figures and done really well. There are many figures I own of which I don’t have any knowledge of appreciation of the source material. I own 3 SHF Tiger and Bunny figures because of your reviews. I’ve never watched one full episode of the anime. It’ll be the same thing with these DnD figures. Warduke is a badass figure too.

I dabbled in D&D in my youth, but mostly via the novels. If NECA ever did some of those characters I'd be over the moon, but their present line is focused on the old LJN toys which I never had. Even so, I think they look pretty awesome. I wasn't able to resist Warduke and that will likely be the case with Strongheart since he'll pair well with that figure. I had a few nits to pick with Warduke, but by and large, it's an impressive figure for the pricepoint and this one looks even better in some respects.
I just need them to do Venger.
I've played D&D for years and still have the original figure this is based on. Technically he is not a character in the game, but he made an appearance in the cartoon. Still I like this as an update and is something we don't see a ton of unlike say Spider-Man LOL

I did play D&D quite a bit, but never had the figures. My main interest in these is because they look cool.
I’m really on the fence about this one. There is one detail that is bothering me though.
I’ve seen someone complain that the knees/knee pads are too low, making the legs seem disproportional.
From the reviews I watched, sometimes it does seem so, but most of the time, it doesn’t (I keep wondering if it is a vídeo angle issue, for instance).
Since you have it in hands and I really trust your grasp of anatomy, what do you think?
Seems likely to me they think the knees are low because they're used to hasbro's terrible anatomy and the boots are dark so they appear smaller. The legs are properly proportioned within reason.

He's a character from the old 80s D&D Saturday morning cartoon. Unfortunately that is what his face is supposed to look like. I've always preferred Warduke.
Loved dungeons and dragons new movie but I HAVE NO CLUE about dungeons and dragons lol. Like I know nothing. I saw this guy at target today and did not hesitate. NECA really is the standard for quality and pricing. Are marvel legends and black series so overpriced because of Disney? What’s the point of releasing overpriced obscure characters/figures if they are just going to go to clearance? I’m asking because I truly don’t know. Why doesn’t ML and BS just make their figures more affordable? NECA and even McFarlane who isn’t perfect will release far superior figures for a cheaper price point.. The math ain’t mathing 😂. Thanks for sharing this review love the channel! Now let me go watch your new predator review

I like D&D but I don’t care about their IP characters because the game is all about making your own character and the adventure they have.
But I’ll definitely get this as it looks phenomenal.

As a big fan of medieval history I cringe from you saying "knights arnt known for agility" as a knight ur barely slowed from armor and I just gonna clarify this but armor isn't overly heavy either.
I didn't say it was overly heavy. They weren't known for agility though. Being able to move adequately isn't being agile. Ninja are known for agility. Knights are not.
Your comment alone supports what I'm saying. "Barely slowed" means they were less agile than someone not wearing knight armor.
@AnthonysCustoms u can see videos on how much agility it can still offer a trained knight can do the same moves with armor then without. Also ninjas didn't exist as we know it, they were just average people but I love the stereotype anyways.
Don’t review things you don’t know. Example, the face was spot on from the cartoon. This character is from the cartoon dungeons and dragons cartoon not from the role-playing game so your review has very little value because you don’t know the character
