    I have a similar fridge model and the other videos I saw have a different drain hole placement so I have a hard time finding the drain hole, thanks for making the video, you are a life saver!

    A huge Thank You! I have the same fridge, and have been collecting the water for a couple of years, it was a bit of a battle to carefully remove the unit, as I think it was frozen in place. I used pots of HOT water and it finally released (without breaking)!! I'm now able to turn the fridge temp down to a normal range! Great to have it working as it should! THANK YOU!

    Most Excellent! Also if anyone is having a gnat problem and can't understand why you can't erradicate them, I found where they might be breeding in the water residue from clogged drainage pipes!

    Thnx for the DIY fix! It worked. I discovered the same situation in the air & water housing as u did. I did not unplug it or take the back off as u did. Just removed the housing, got rid of the ice & slime, cleaned it, and put it back on. Quick & easy. Thnx for saving me a ton of $ on an appliance repairman!

      So if I have this problem, I just need to remove the ice and gunk in the draining tube inside the refrigerator and my leaking ends?

      I have a 2007 Kenmore. Almost similar configuration. Was leaking, but towards the back and down the floor. No clog and no ice, but this was after the fridge had ben unplugged for 10 hrs so I guess the ice build up that diverted the water from the freezer drain had already melted when I did my inspection.

    Pink slime mold is a common problem on commercial ice machines and refrigeration as well. It's gross, but it cleans out easily. I have the 20 cu.ft. version of this fridge. The piece you removed is slightly different than mine, but it's the same set up at the back. Thanks for the vid!

    I'm going to try this. My 1st fridge only lasted 1988-2002 Now I've gotten 22 years from my Frigidaire. But it's leaking.
    Thank you for this video.
    I wish people went more for repair than replace. My oven is from 1990. Needs a 3rd replacement of heating element (about every 10+ years)
    Also my parents green Frigidaire lasted about 45 years.

    Wish the problem was with that interior pan. Didn’t feel or see any standing water or frozen water. It was all clear and I replaced the housing (slightly different model). I need to pull the back off the refrigerator and drag out my shop vac and go through the paces you laid out. Thanks!

    Any idea on how to get a new gasket seal as the one inside the housing is cracked ?

  • @Aggression-hc3yp

    I keep thinking that my leak problem is due to the water building up under the bottom trays inside the refrigerator and when too much water builds up, it overflows onto the floor.

  • @ichoo5048

    My leaking seems to be coming from the air and water housing in slow droplets close to the air holes. Could this be condensation with the warmer fridge encountering the colder air from the freezer?

    I have this exact issue with my Fridgidaire, but when I took that part off like you did there was not anything clogging that part at all. The little tube was free of all debris. I think it could be clogged further down the tube -inside the fridge. Any suggustions? I cant seem to open up the back of the fridge except at the very bottom. thank you very much!

    Looks like same problem I have. I haven't pulled it out yet so I don't know about the gunk. I can definitely feel the ice build up. One issue I may have is mine appears to be connected to the light and Temp control and is screwed in.

    • @nicolecelestine2184
      @nicolecelestine2184 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe I have the same issue. I've got a 2016 model, very similar to the one in the video, but I'm not seeing how to remove the housing as he did, without cracking the lid off, and it does seem to be connected from the inside to the light and temp control. I also can feel the ice buildup. I'm getting trickles of water every now and then but I think it's only a matter of time before I have a continuous leak.
      Any help would be appreciated.

    I used to love the Frigidaire brand so much! Sadly Frigidaire refrigerator is not as good as used to be. Mine went out last week after 6 years of use ( not mention I had to call twice to get the ice maker fixed!)
    I won’t be purchasing this brand again.

    Any suggestions on how to remove a very tight water housing? Can’t seem to get it loose and don’t want to break it

    • @jdrappin
      @jdrappin  ปีที่แล้ว

      The colder the plastic, the more brittle it becomes. If it comes down to this, I would (a) let my refrigerator thaw above 68°F and then remove it with a microwaved warm cloth or (b) if your feeling gutsy, just go with the hot/warm cloth to remove the housing

      I have the same problem. I’m calling someone to fix it. I know it will break if I do it and then my fridge is down. Did you get yours off ok?

  • @melissacelestine7382

    What do you do if there is no drip pan

    • @jdrappin
      @jdrappin  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The hose has to drain into a plastic container. When you make the fix, please use something like a take-out tray from Cheesecake Factory or one of your favorite restaurants as the pan. If not, liquid could be draining onto the floor.
