- After the debacle last time I tried to woodturn a thin vase, I wanted a chance at lathe redemption! I think I got the edges on this bowl pretty thin...

This is the art of choosing right tools and even the right speed make possible a nice bowl. Thank you so much indeed!
The amount of woodturners going to thin amazes me ,you asked for that.
I am in awe how you look at a piece of wood and know just where to turn to make it beautiful
You excelled yourself. That's one lovely bowl. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you very much!
Hi Drew I love how you turned it against the grain. It really gives Andy unusual look. Beautiful bowl 👏👏👏
Thank you Rita!
Great design, love the shape and finish, cheers, John
Thanks John!
Great looking bowl 👍
Nice bowl 😏. Picked up a lathe a few weeks ago. I’ve turned a Cylinder and started to turn a log. Got some pen blanks and kits that I plan on working on this weekend.

Dale, dh woodworking, very nice work, I really enjoy good craftsman. Only thing I would add to your video is a little audio, tell us what finish was used. Keep up the good work.

I have a suggestion for your chuck coming off spindle, put chuck in a warm oven 150 or so, freeze the spindle, install when hot and cold, it probably won't ever come off
I love the bowl. That wood is beautiful. Id like to buy that for my kitchen to put fruit in it.
Muy bonito bowl! Haces arte amigo saludos desde México
Great video
It's so great job.
So beautiful
Thank you
Nicely done. To me thinness is trait of fine wood turning. One suggestion! Make sure you sand out all your chisel marks.
Bonito cuenco, muy pocos saben lo riesgoso que es hacer esta çlase de obras, mis felicitaciones maestro
Un abrazo desde COLOMBIA

Hi Drew, That is a very lovely bowl. You certainly did get the walls thin on this one. It has a unique shape as well which I love. Take care Drew. Cheers, Huw
Thanks Huw!
@@CookWoodworks What wood was it? Huw
Thank you for this great video. Do you recommend using dry or green wood? I'm a beginner at this point and have turned a few bowls with some success.
I think green wood is great for practice and learning. Most likely your bowl will warp or crack as it dries, unless you rough turn and wait several months, but I don't mind when that happens as I care more about learning than the end result. Thanks for watching and good luck!
Parabéns 👏👏👏
Very Nice!!!!!
Thanks!!
Hey, if you still have this piece, just wondering how much movement it has had or if you have had any cracking issues from the pith areas? Thanks!
This one did end up moving a bit, but luckily no cracking!
Wow, that’s a pretty bowl
Thank you!
Beautiful, how do you get a whole log with no cracks? Seems like no matter what kind of sealer I use I always get checking
This one I cut off about 6 inches from the end to get an uncracked section. I found this in the woods at least 6 months after it had been cut, so I got pretty lucky the cracks weren’t too bad
Very nice!!! Great looking bowl. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you!
That bowl is kinda cool
Thanks
Do you have your lathe bolted on the bench?
Man, I gotta ask where you found that redemption code ? I look for them all the time and they're always expired 😢 That bowl looks wonderful Drew ... so thin and svelte ... my wife is so jealous😁 Stay safe. -Mike p.s. I knew you had it in you all along👍👍
You have to really really search the Internet to find those codes 😂
hi, I’m just getting started to wood turning, and I need help finding the piece you put in the tail stock to bore out the middle... could anybody help?
This is what you’re looking for: amzn.to/2ZmIBaS
Just use any forstner bit with this and you’re set. Have fun!
How do you keep it from splitting over time
Nice piece! Glad to see I'm not the only turner that has emergency underwear.
Jason Ford just flip sides!
@@rossandersen942 🤣🤣 You're not right man!
Lovely 🕊🙏🕊😌🕊🙏🕊
Great job...
Thank you!
What kind of gouge did you used to shape the bowl in the beginning?
A half inch bowl gouge
Parabéns 👏👏👏🙌 e fica com Deus.

Great job. Very beautiful. What did you use for the finish?
Thanks, I used danish oil
Hello my friend 👍 Nice video thanks 🤝
Thanks for visiting
I'm totally sure we have trivia questions about that topic.
Huh?
Dami was looking for HOW to Chuck em up n started past....
I'm happy to see I'm bot the only one using orbital sanding pads 🤪
Haha I have a big stack of them, might as well make use right?
Did u take woodwork in jr or high school ? U got some awesome work
You would benefit greatly from learning the push cut!
P.S. warm makes inside diameter grow and spindle shrink
Hey Ive seen how you where slightly struggling with sanding down the live edge bowl and I thought I'd just tell you a little trick I do. If you take a standing sponge and put a pice of sand paper around it allowing you to change grit it works great and is much faster and safer as the alternative it's a beautiful piece turned out great!
Thanks for the tip, I’ll try that next time!
Hola, alguien sabe que le pone al final para que brille? Laca, barniz??
I love it!👏💞👏
Thanks so much!
What machine do you use my dad is planning on getting one
Show 👋👋👋
. you always have thumbs up .Ali from basrah
Can you tell us what the finish was?
I used Danish oil on this one
Muito lindo seu trabalho. Parabéns.
1:43 Oh My Gosh!!! 😲 Are you ok!?!😟
Yeah, it was more startling than dangerous luckily!
Текстура очень красивая! Но, что это за дерево?
Good work but finition is not correct. You can do a better work i think. Continu.

Your technique is close. Once you learn to rub the bevel you will do a lot better.
