  • I've had this log for a while, and hadn't woodturned it yet because it was kinda boring and ugly... I'm glad I finally got it on the lathe though, because the inside turned out pretty cool!
    My tools:
Starbond Glue: bit.ly/2RFrayA (Use discount code "cook" for 10% off!)
    Resin: amzn.to/2nUhFPg
    Finishing Oil: amzn.to/2oAFPP6
    Carbide Chisels: amzn.to/2NUiEdq
    Face Shield: amzn.to/2Ac4Cvj
    Center Finder: amzn.to/2ld06Ju
    Jet Lathe: amzn.to/2qG2wD5
    Nova Chuck: amzn.to/32tJvkm
    Miter Saw: amzn.to/2ZpjuBW
    Drill: amzn.to/2XtnW0G
    Square: amzn.to/2VaCNzW
    Clamps: amzn.to/2UvPSiZ
*if you shop through these links I may receive a small commission. The price is the same for you, but it helps support me as a beginner woodturner in my quest to get a bigger lathe to make bigger projects, and I really appreciate it!

Yep, so cool - inside and out my friend👍 The bright orange center surrounded by the brown banding make it gorgeous and lovely to behold🏆 We're all glad you finally took pity on the log ... look how it rewarded you!! Stay safe. -Mike😷

I think this log took pity on me haha. It started singing when I got the walls thinner, which is a sound I associate with pending disaster... luckily it decided not to explode!

@@CookWoodworks See, you are getting good ... listening to, and understanding sounds is an acquired skill not everyone can do. (I know, as an old time car mechanic!)

Hi Drew, That is a beautiful bowl. This is what I love about turning wood, you never know what is going to be on the inside until you turn it and then you go WOW!! Take care Drew. Cheers, Huw

Thanks Huw! It’s true, sometimes you have no idea what the inside will look like. A log from this same tree was just ugly yellow inside, so I was pleasantly surprised
