I loved hearing Jen’s story. I went back to school this past summer to finish my bachelors degree. I was really nervous after being out of school for 3 years , but I made A’s in both classes I took this summer.

I'm almost 33, have worked with children (age 6-10) and never wanted one myself. It's rather unlikely that this will change. I wanted to have cats as roommates for years, moved into a larger apartment last year and now have two furry roommates for 2,5 weeks. I love it! They are no practice pieces to see if I can take care for someone else than me. They are my buddies and loved. As long as you don't hurt anyone, live your life as you wish. Trust in yourself and your decision ❤️

I gotta disagree with that. All that "it's never too late to go back to school and follow your dreams" stuff sounds great on a poster, but it rarely works in real life. Here in reality, you're much better off sticking with a good paying job that you hate than quitting that to *attempt* to get a job you don't hate. Especially if getting said job is going to take years of school and training. You could've used those years getting further up the latter you were already on. And even after you quit your job, got a degree, and are now drowning in student loans, there's no guarantee that you'll actually get a job related to your degree. Quite often, people end up going back to the field they were working in before going back to school because the field there fancy new degree is in just isn't hiring.(or at the very least isn't hiring them.)
@@namelessgirl5871 yes it does. It helps you out food on the table. Racking up hundreds of thousands in student loans for a degree that can't pay the bills doesn't help anything.

Haha, right? Yesterdsy bf said that we can get motorcicly driving licence only at age 24. I was like "wow, turns out I can't even get licence for couple of years??" Than I realised I'm 25 already :D kinda fell into student times in my mind.
I’m getting married and I don’t have an engagement ring. I actually had an engagement shoot and I did my own nails with holo taco rainbow snow, not milky white, & flakie top coat. I wasn’t going to do an engagement session but we won it in a contest and it was free so why not

I love Jen even more now knowing that she also switched career paths and she’s doing well and that I am not crazy if I want to switch as well. That helps me make my own career decisions.
Neillay Divate you can always change. My eldest sister did a law degree, did that for a while, then decided to become an accountant (such an overachiever!). My middle sister was a professional orchestral musician and then changed to being a physiotherapist and is now a teacher (such drive and commitment). I did do a degree but that really wasn’t for me. I worked as a croupier for a while, then did stay at home mum, then went back to school to learn tailoring and worked in made to measure bridal wear for ages. And now I run a mobile animal farm...You can do what you want, then change, and do something else you want. Or be like Christine and do it all at the same time! I wish I had that energy.

I started out doing a two-year programming bootcamp because I wanted to get into the programming/developing field and after the first year I realized I really wanted to go back to college (I had done one semester of computer engineering at a university) but to do something different... I'd been working at this point and I really wanted to go into business and also tech, so I applied for university again and I'm about to graduate from a Bachelor's in Business Administration, and I start my Master's in Business Analytics and Data Science next year!! I'm 27 and I honestly feel like this has been the best decision for me, though I was super hesitant at first. Do you whatever you set your mind to!
When they talked about speaking French at the dinner table it made me think about how a lot of parents in Belgium (in the Dutch-speaking part) speak French to each other so their kids woudn’t understand them hahahahaha
Jen's right! I got laid off at 46 from a company for whom I'd worked for over 20 years. I changed careers and landed a great job with my county government. It can be done at any age, you just have to be willing to put the time and effort in, even if it means going to school while working a job just to pay the bills.
Honestly, Jen just rounded out the trifecta that is the Rotenberg Mazowita Awesomeness Triangle, because hearing her story and seeing how passionate she is about what she does only served to highlight that you, Cristine and Ben, have done similar things and are still pursuing that passion. It is INCREDIBLY admirable. You guys really are some great role models. I am glad to be a fan of this channel.
I'm always curious why their mom seems like out of the picture unlike their dad. I know their parent were divorced, it's just weird to me that cristine/jen rarely talked about their mom.

Guys, it's my first comment ever on the platform, however I'm an old (literally, 28 y/o! - point for old ppl) subscriber. I just wanted to share with you how much I appreciate what you do on the platform and how Cristine and other people around her evolved. It's really nice to hear some reasonable voices on this platform and I really enjoy your podcasts! Keep them rolling!
Jens career path is so interesting, i dont know if i had ever heard of victimology specifically, but that sounds so interesting and captivating as a career. I am also someone who has had a lot of trouble deciding exactly what i wanted to do as a career, bouncing around different ideas (non profit work, law school, etc) and i also eventually ended up pursuing policy making as well. This was a super interesting conversation!
This was so cool!! Please please have Jen come back on someday to talk more in depth about her studies in Victimology (did not even know that was a thing!), her volunteering at the crisis management center, her current work with policy, and her other related jobs. Not only is it fascinating and really enriching conversation, but also I am deeply passionate about entering the non-profit field (I studied anthropology, conflict analysis, and international security, and have started to develop an interest in policy), and I would love to learn more about her experiences.

Jens career path is so interesting, i dont know if i had ever heard of victimology specifically, but that sounds so interesting and captivating as a career. I am also someone who has had a lot of trouble deciding exactly what i wanted to do as a career, bouncing around different ideas (non profit work, law school, etc) and i also eventually ended up pursuing policy making as well. This was a super interesting conversation!

This was so cool!! Please please have Jen come back on someday to talk more in depth about her studies in Victimology (did not even know that was a thing!), her volunteering at the crisis management center, her current work with policy, and her other related jobs. Not only is it fascinating and really enriching conversation, but also I am deeply passionate about entering the non-profit field (I studied anthropology, conflict analysis, and international security, and have started to develop an interest in policy), and I would love to learn more about her experiences.
