@Jamie Lynne No. Sometimes people create products they feel would benefit society or that they think will bring joy to others. & those are categories that I would place Cristine.

NotgreatBOB! yes. it was exactly what i’ve been saying but smarter. i’m so sick of moms bitching because they can’t 8 grand off of a two minute long video of her kid doing back flips.
The problem I have with this podcast is that it's too short. I feel like Cristine and Ben have so much information to share and I could just sit through a 2-hour podcast with them.
Naida Alajbegović If you look at SimplyNotLogical, you’ll see Cristine and Ben going to Safiya and Tyler’s wedding, then the next morning(after getting in at around 4 am) getting on this podcast. Out of respect for Safiya and Tyler, they waited to post the wedding vlog until after Saf and Ty posted their wedding video in January.
Honestly, the fact that Cristine and Ben have 4 degrees between them and are crime statistics analysts are my favorite things about them. I could listen to them talk about school and their jobs for hours. I'm so glad he started the interview with that ^_^
i remember when i got to talk to ben on the phone (which was so much fun) that we talked about high school (since i’m a freshman) and he talked about cristine having not super great memories about high school and ben saying that he didn’t have a terrible time and i was talking about kinda being nervous about it and talking about theatre (cause i’m an over dramatic theatre kid, sue me) and he said something that stuck with me. he said “high school is such a small part of your life, and right now it seems really important and all that matters but when you leave you’ll realize this world waiting for you and you’ll realize just how small high school actually was in terms of you and your character and what your purpose is in life.” and i just wanted to share that because i thought it was good advice!
I had such a terrible highschool experience, I am a freshman in college and often get really upset and dragged down remembering it, I don’t have any memories and the ones I do are just kinda sad. I don’t y’all go anyone from highschool either, but I hope in the future I can make better memories and not dwell on what I did then. I think he’s right, high school is a pretty big part of someone’s life but it’s not the only big part.
This is not good advice, this is a strong advice and this made me think about it so much that I realized high school at the time is to settle in or understand how you want be.
I had the same thought. It's scary to say or comment this on Shane's video. People will come after me then. Not to shade shane but that was the whole point of the series. It was emotionally made but excellent series. Amazing work.
I see what you mean. If youtube drops off, and income become sparse, I doubt it will happen- the canadian federal government offers really good retirement benefits. Maybe a prof when he is retired?
"Benjamin, you have seen me through this challenging time and never ceased to offer your support, be it listening to me ramble on about feminism (sorry), accepting my hours at a time of emotional absence while I was ravenously typing away, or even proof-reading most of my chapters. You have challenged me to be a more critical thinker, and even though neither of us enjoys being ‘wrong’, I believe our debates have served us both well and inevitably improved my understanding of critical theory" - Cristine's thesis
Ben's the best bf ever existed lol he lets Cristine paint his nails and he also shows them! Also he is very smart is decent and actually has a lot of knowledge. He's a role model
One of my good friends has a gf who is a nail tech. He’s always letting her paint his nails and he’ll wear it to work he doesn’t care. I think it’s sweet.
Crying a bit. Drunk on a monday evening. 26 and sitting alone. But so proud of doing my second master degree while working a full time job im way too unqualified for.. those two are really inspiriring..
An DV I’m only 18 and currently between jobs and education so take what you will from me. But hey, yeah they employed you for a reason and be proud! think of how much stronger you will be in your field and in yourself the longer you stay there. I hope you have a lovely time over this Christmas period :)
Cristine's answer to the last question was so perfect and is why I consider her one of my biggest role models - I work full-time as a Data Analyst as well and I became a qualified makeup artist through school on the weekends, and then Face Awards came to South Africa for the first time and because I entered that I had to learn how to shoot and edit tutorial videos - I've discovered a new creative outlet to supplement my creative expression - however at work with all the software engineers and devs I'm kinda patronized for having another job/skills that seem redundant because they can't be utilized in my primary job. I would like to do makeup full-time but it just isn't financially feasible at the moment. I'm just so happy that there's someone like Cristine who has managed this duality in choice of life so successfully. She really gives me hope.
Cristine was already my hero, but holy dang. She really is the best role model. The way she can be goofy and so witty and sarcastic, then flip the switch to smart crime statistics analyst is just inspiring. Like she’s just “ yeah imma make this nail polish cake but read my thesis while I eat a slice son.” 😂😍🙌🏼❤️
Wow, I did not expect my worlds to collide in this way. I love Cristine so much. I’m 24 and in my second year of law school and hearing Cristine reflect on how she is happy that she pursued post-grad education makes me feel really encouraged. Loved this episode!!
He's confident in his opinions... or let's say arrogant... and doesn't feel the need to sugar coat his personal views. Hence- he's honestly sharing *his* perspective!
Part of being an adult, is not using the verb 'adulting'. I dont think she needs do to anything more tbh. Theres enough adulting 101 content out there already.
I love that this ends up reading like "A conversation with Simply Momlogical and Dad and Uncle Philly D" It's always nice to see youtube creators having real adult conversations because while I love the silly, fun, exciting content, I think this sort of thing is really good for us to hear, especially, despite the swearing, younger kids who idolize youtubers. Cristine and Ben are always great for this sort of thing because they're so down to Earth. Kudos to you three!
Asha King I didn’t dislike it at all, but looking back now, if they don’t finish it up with more episodes showing everything else that was teased, it will have just been a giant informercial. Still not mad at it cause it was entertaining, but can’t deny the obvious.
I like the documentary even though im not his fan bcuz of his dirty image. And he nvr force anyone to buy it or watch it. As i know, he will drop his finale epi this week..or next week..
I loved the conversation about young boys wanting to wear nail polish. I’m a nail technician myself and I specialize in detailed nail art. My 7 year old son has been horribly teased at school because he likes me to paint his nails and do cool art on them. I’ve made sure to explain how people could react but I’m so proud to say he was totally happy to explain to people that it’s ok if they don’t want to paint their nails, but it’s something he enjoys and that’s ok. 🥰 proud mommy moment. I’ve also showed him the videos of Ben talking about his views on men alienating polish and showed clips of Julien from Jennas videos as well. Bad bunny was another example as well. All it takes is a conversation about how to be true to yourself. I wish more parents would be understanding and open to letting their child explore as long as it won’t hurt them. I think it’s beautiful to see them blossom into their own person.
ben just says it like it is and people can't handle criticism anymore bc everyone thinks anyone speaking on them is throwing hate bc they have blinders on that is why i appreciate ben
@@Loveya226 If A Convo With is doing these once a week, it's probably because holidays are coming up in the US, so nobody is available until January 5th because they're with family and planning Christmas.
@@Loveya226 She's actually got a LOT going on besides her weekly video. She and Julien also do a weekly podcast and they play video games on Twitch, AND Jenna has a weekly show on Sirius, I think. One of the satellite radio services, anyway.
Ben makes such a good point (although he didn't explicitly state this) that Jenna Marbles and Cristine have something similar - people enjoy their personality and will go along for just about any ride with them. II would totally watch 40 year old Cristine making overnight oats.
I feel Cristine on that - I’m a pharm chemist. I work on cancer medicine. Even if I was a millionaire I would still want to do my job because I feel like I am doing a greater good.
I think it's sad that our society rewards people pulling pranks, being douchebags, playing video games, reviewing toys or makeup with millions of dollars but people doing important work are underpaid. I've worked in medical oncology research for years and had to be in school for 8 years to be in that field. My time spent using a pipette and looking down into cultures and gels for electrophoresis has damaged my hands and neck to the point that I'm disabled. There's little monetary reward or even recognition from society but Logan Paul is a household name. What we do is important to society and that is our reward.
Lurah25 wow that’s horrible. They always tell us at work about the dangers of spending too much time pipetting. They say to take 15 minute breaks if you’re spending the day pipetting. I don’t pipette that much since I work in analytical but I didn’t realize it could really get that bad. I’m sorry to hear that. And for sure those kind of jobs that we worked are so important and yet we get paid so little compared to these useless entertainers. Very sad how people’s value doesn’t actually translate into money.
I love these two for the reasons why an older audience watches that they gave. As a college student, they are very inspiring, some thing that is entertaining and mildly thought provoking. Obviously I dont know them, but they do give a different vibe than most youtubers. Keep up the content!
That's like the most entertaining video on TH-cam that I've watched in a while. Wow, no drama, no shade, no one talking sh*t about himself. I really enjoyed it and I love the fact that Christine and Ben are so down to earth (which I knew) but it was nice seeing them outside their channel. ❤️
I like that Ben is so normal, a paints his nails on TH-cam. Jeffery Star is good, but I feel like he normalises a different kind of guy beauty, it's nice to see a guy who wouldn't look out of place in a grocery store secure enough to explore nail colour.
I don't think Ben paints his nails for self expression, but rather he helps tests products. But it is awesome that he doesn't see it as something a guy shouldn't do
i agree! i love that guys painting their nails is becoming more normal, but it’s still mostly normal only for gay guys. guys like ben, masculine and straight, still are looked at strangely for it, at least in my observations
Jessi on the Go I think that makes an even bigger impact. To weigh your own desires and identity against social expectations is one thing. To disregard those expectations even if you don’t even really care the thing you do against them makes them look that much less important.
Agree, I really like seeing guys who are typically masculine doing things that would be considered feminine. Really breaking stereotypes and gender roles. Julien Solomita, Jenna's bf, also paints his nails consistently just because it's fun and he likes the way it looks
Phil, Thank you so much for having Cristine and Ben on the podcast. It was wonderfully informative to watch and hear 3 grown adults have a real intelligent conversation.
Cristine is such a breath of fresh air on this platform. She does youtube because she likes sitting down and eating nail polish, she doesn’t necessarily need the money. She opened a nail polish company because she wanted to create fun nail polishes and she genuinely cares about the quality of the product and she loves what it is. And beside all that she supports education and knowledge. I just really respect and look up to her and Ben 💕
Woooahhh i felt that when Christine talked about not being the type to coast through school and having to put in the work for the grades. I got good grades but I worked so hard for them, way more than some of my peers who got the stellar grades regardless 😅
*Cristine with no H 🙆🏼♀️ but same, though, I hated highschool so much just because people were d*#ks and even though I tried, the pressure of "making it" socially was reflecting negatively on my grades. I wasn't as smart as Cristine as to disregard that part and focus 🙈
I love how even their wardrobe is still comfy, like the money they’re making is obviously being returned in their life but it’s not going crazy to buy hugs designer brands
I've followed Cristine for years. Never knew about her school past. Im from the UK, was bullied from the age of 10 to even when I was 17 and in college. At 19 I finally moved out. Had no friends, never saw my family but now I'm thriving. I work 2 jobs and have 1 day off per week to see family and many friends I've made at one of my jobs. I'm now saving up for a car so I no longer have to rely on busses. I was extremely dependent on my family and friends but now I'm completely independent and it feels amazing. When I was in highschool I never thought I could be this person at 20 years old. I didn't even think i'd get past my 18th birthday. Guess what I'm trying to say is sometimes going away and becoming your own person will be the best thing you can do for yourself.
I love cristine and bens mom and dad moments, especially as someone who is an older viewer! Because I know younger people follow them and they see great influences
When it comes to their work ethics, it reminds me of my parents. My mom is very laid back and likes to relax and enjoy life and my dad wants to work work work and go go go! But my mom said that she doesn't feel like she would have gotten as far in life as she has if she hadn't had my dad, and how driven he is, there to encourage her. Conversely, my dad said that if he wasn't with my mom he'd be a workaholic and would never have focused on kicking back and having fun. Ben reminds me of my mom and Cristine reminds me of my dad. 😊

The problem I have with this podcast is that it's too short. I feel like Cristine and Ben have so much information to share and I could just sit through a 2-hour podcast with them.
labyrinthminds same!! I got so sad this ended. I could’ve listened to a lot more.
I’m waiting for the part two to this to come out the next time they’re in LA.
And now they're making a podcast @simplypodlogical
now you can! I listened to all their podcasts, they're all great so far, very educated ans interesting people.

And we never knew that the day before this was recorded, they had went to safiya and Tyler’s wedding
what? wasnt this like a year before and the wedding this year?
@@Naida184 the wedding was also in november, but they only recently shared it!

Phil: We found your thesis-
Cristine: You found my thesis?!
Me: SHE HAS A THESIS?!

Where can I find this thesis?
Quinn Sampson Just type „simplynaillogical thesis” in Google
She has a master degree, of course you'd have a thesis! (I'm going to find it and I'm going to read it!)
Michelle Leung i have a masters degree and don’t have a thesis 😂 masters eith coursework doesn’t have a thesis

i remember when i got to talk to ben on the phone (which was so much fun) that we talked about high school (since i’m a freshman) and he talked about cristine having not super great memories about high school and ben saying that he didn’t have a terrible time and i was talking about kinda being nervous about it and talking about theatre (cause i’m an over dramatic theatre kid, sue me) and he said something that stuck with me. he said “high school is such a small part of your life, and right now it seems really important and all that matters but when you leave you’ll realize this world waiting for you and you’ll realize just how small high school actually was in terms of you and your character and what your purpose is in life.” and i just wanted to share that because i thought it was good advice!
Blaire Gray thank you
I had such a terrible highschool experience, I am a freshman in college and often get really upset and dragged down remembering it, I don’t have any memories and the ones I do are just kinda sad.
How did you even get that opportunity holy crap

He would be great.

27, working towards my first masters degree ( I'm a double major) and working a part time job. Its hard now, but you will get there!
17. Got accepted into three foreign universities, ready to move out ... and then Covid happened.
You're absolutely iconic! Hope things can go well!

dlxe yesss
Cristine out here reminding everyone that women can be well rounded human beings too 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🥰
Pretty sad that people need to be reminded of that tbh
No one was doubting that...

Ben throwing low key smart shade at Shane for his money grab 'documentary' was great. Really well said.
Asha King I didn’t dislike it at all, but looking back now, if they don’t finish it up with more episodes showing everything else that was teased, it will have just been a giant informercial. Still not mad at it cause it was entertaining, but can’t deny the obvious.

Kayydee Did it that’s ok I’m a guy and have done nails for 20 years. I got teased my entire career.

Ben makes such a good point (although he didn't explicitly state this) that Jenna Marbles and Cristine have something similar - people enjoy their personality and will go along for just about any ride with them. II would totally watch 40 year old Cristine making overnight oats.
Ben flexing the flamingo button down
I feel Cristine on that - I’m a pharm chemist. I work on cancer medicine. Even if I was a millionaire I would still want to do my job because I feel like I am doing a greater good.
I wouldn't mind you becoming a millionair in your field tho. It would be great and mean some great advancement in cancer research
Dutchik hahahah I wish. But people hate the pharma industry. I feel underpaid but I still like my job!
Keep doing your amazing job! My uncle and sister cured cancer with rick simpson cbd oil.
I love these two for the reasons why an older audience watches that they gave. As a college student, they are very inspiring, some thing that is entertaining and mildly thought provoking. Obviously I dont know them, but they do give a different vibe than most youtubers. Keep up the content!

Loving Ben being super serious, gesturing his important points with his multicolored glitter nails 😂

I love getting to see Cristine get to be a real person and relaxed like this.
My favorite thing about these two is the yearly scholarships they do for collage students... it's such a beautiful thing to give people a real chance
