    My boy... I need you to do a baseline tutorial that explains all of the settings and functions in detail. You're moving way too fast without explaining what each wheel does. Blackmagic's coloring is much more advanced than Premiere and this program is confusing enough.

      Camera Raw the first TAB is a game changer on Davinci Resolve.

    Ive been working with still photography for years and have become very familiar with color correction in photoshop and lightroom, but trying to convert that to video was more dificult than i expected. This video really helped me understand the difference in terms with Davinci. (for example lift=shadows, offset= exposure....) Thanks!

    Quick tip: If you work on a picture for more than 10min your eyes get used to it and do not notice the differences. That's why professional colourist suggest to do the primarily correction on the scoops.

    thanks Mark, you were my first video into DaVinciResolve17.. and I been so frustrated trying to colour grade this month working on my animation project in post.. so even though I haven't got time to be looking at vids, I thought I'd give it a go and see if I can get some quick short cuts into sorting out the light / colour etc.. and you introduced me to NODE page, I didn't have a clue, I get the basics now, thanks, watching your video definitely helped me to make a start on it all, and I was applying your settings to my video at the same time as I was watching your video, just to see how it would affect, and obviously to put it all into context so I remember more what your showing in the video, in terms of settings of nodes etc.. and it was working at first, my pic looked so much better, but obviously at some point your settings won't bring out the best in mine, but this knowledge of mid tones and all that, I need to get my ahead around and learn... so much more to learn.. it's fun, and fascinating thought.. thanks anyway... I almost considered spending lots on LUTs package, until I came on TH-cam and seen your video.. not that I have a. finished result right now but this will defo help for future projects ...

    Some friendly advice: there is so much wrong here. First of all, please transform a log image with a color transform or a rec709 luts (built into davinci resolve). By only using color wheels and contrast, you loose a ton of dynamic range and information. After your transform you add a node before that transform to adjust WB/Exposure before the image in converted to rec709 to keep the most information in highlights and shadows (basically to not clip and then recover afterwards). Overall you should use and refer to the scopes more rather than "what looks right". Especially your skin tones are completely off. Just to keep consistency across multiple clips. Also you should look into qualifiers to work with highlights in order to keep information there. This also works for skin tones if you want to lean into a very stylized look. You can isolate that and transform the rest of your grade to what you like. Also have a look into glow/grain to make the image pop more and make it look more professional rather than the basic teal/orange creator look.
    Just a few tips that are rather easy to apply and make your slog footage that much better. Especially if you lean into teaching it to others. :)

    Thanks, great presentation and well explained. On the other hand I was looking for a solution to color grade an entire film.
    I mean, I want the same "color atmosphere" over the entire film. Let's say images that seem to be shot in the 18th century.
    Aswell outdoor and indoor. How do you create this color feeling over an entire film?

    • @ssskits8747
      @ssskits8747 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Go to the effects library and there is an effect called adjustment clip, if you have any audio/effect tracks over your main video put them to the top of the timeline, and then put the adjustment clip directly over your video track, as for the color atmosphere just play around with the color wheels until you see something you like, thats how i do it and it works well for me every time, hope this helped.

    Slide the “range” on the shadows and it wont affect the midtones nearly as much or even not at all.

    So dude, me being new in Da vinci resolve, the color idea is to make every color correction, you need to create a log box for it right? so it doesn't affect the other frames? And then how do you save them all eventually? Just click save?

    Do u ever use the color space transform settings? U just grade it straight out of the footage from slog3?
