My friend for those that criticize this bike as being too expensive blah blah blah they don't get the bike at all. This bike is the perfect Super Sport motorcycle for riding in cities and back roads where you can row up and down the gears, enjoying that sweet screaming inline 4-cylinder without excessively breaking the speed limit and losing your license or maybe your life, like you would on 600 CC and 1,000 CC Super Sports. What fun is riding a 1,000 CC super sport which can reach 100 mph in first gear, and where your stuck in first gear the whole time??
You were surgical in your comment, brother. I share the same thought. Unless you can use 100% of the bike, in some scenario, it's not worth having so much power. Is it because of TikTok or the influence of Instagram? It's not worth it.
Love mine too, just hit 600 miles. Sometimes I throw the stock muffler back on so I can rev it without waking up the country. That's my only gripe with it. It needs to be revved high and _often_ to move, and it's so damn loud with just a slip-on, even with the sound insert in it.
That's good to hear your loving your bike and we're so happy for you (wife watching with me casting to tv lol). I've been binge watching ninja vids. I bought x2 500 zx4rr zx6r all in 40th anniversary but learners permit. So 3mths before we can ride the ZX bikes for both Mrs and myself. I am living my wildest dreams literally. We're about to buy a house (in a better area), wife and I get learners licence the same day in days, we have 40th anniversary 500 each to ride. I don't know how it can get better, maybe win lottery 😂(Bucket list stuff riding with the Mrs and being on exactly the same bikes is going to be absolutely freaking awesome). I hope everyone else gets to live their dreams
People nowadays just don't get it, in the 90s we all went mad for 400s because of the exact reasons you are saying now, only then we were able to progress to 600s and 750s and maybe even 1000s, but today, with everyone against speeding, with ironically the fastest and safest vehicles man has ever produced, it makes sense to dive back into what made 400s 'god tier' in the 90s

People love yapping about the price but it's the cheapest 4 cylinder bike on the market, in my country at least. And compared to a CB650R or a Z900 this is a much more compelling bike. There's a good reason the 90's 400's are worth more than their 600, 750 and 1000 counterparts.

Correct me if I'm wrong, it's my impression that around the mid-late 00s, the 600cc supersport category became slightly too track and performance focused. The redlines were increased, and a little comfort was lost. This was partially addressed on a small scale by Honda having the CBR600F alongside the 600RR. In more recent years the Ducati Supersport which will be more comfortable than the Panigale. The GSXR1000S is marketed as a comfortable sport bike for the road. Of course, Kawasaki is the first to revive the 400cc 4-cylinder category of sport bikes, and it sounds to me like they've produced something amazing. I hear it's less cramped than the 80s/90s machine of old, and of course, revving several thousand rpms higher than the old bike. I'd be hard pushed to choose between this 400 and the CBR650 if I wanted a 4-cylinder sport bike that isn't trying to be the fastest. I think a group test is required. Kwak 400, CBR650, R7, GSX8R, Aprilia RS660, and the new Daytona 660.
@SludgedB , that will depend on the roads or track in question. None of the bikes I've mentioned are track focused. They're comfortable sport bikes for the road. There's varying reports of the top speed of the new 400. Even in a drag race, it wouldn't be embarrassed and might even beat some of the bigger bikes. They're not tuned for top end power. They're only guaranteed to have more low revs torque. The CBR650r is only reported to top out at 138mph. The RS660, 139mph... the 400 is reported to max out at 150mph
Hiya dude, just bought one of these as a second bike, can't wait to pick it up at the dealership, it's got everything i want in a small capacity machine ....👍😀🏴
It would definitely be a more engaging ride compared to my R6 riding in the city. I’m going from stoplight to stoplight and never had to take it out of 1st gear. It definitely looks a heck of a lot more comfortable as well. I just may have one in my future.
Ive narrowed my search down to this and the GSXR8. Had a ninja 650 for 3 years... Just can't make my mind up... All the reviews say the GSX8R is the perfect bike for commuting and weekend blasts. Just love the way the ZX4RR sounds and looks 🤔
Having ripped around the Kansai (Osaka) region of Japan for 2 years in the late 1990s on a gorgeous blue Kawasaki ZZR400 I have lived the life of 5 digit revs with a high end kick, a rowdy sound track and non jail-able speeds.
I the process now of getting a used 2023 with 800 miles on it. It’s going in on Saturday for the recall spark plugs and frame drain holes. Also I bought a 23 Zx10r and sold it after 800 miles. Way to damn fast for the street and real aggressive riding position.
I couldn't get extended warranty options through Kawasaki dealer. Other dealers offering longer warranty but I don't trust that lol. To hear Kawasaki is that confident with 4yr warranty gives peace of mind for me. Their machines can get some high mileage and good on Kawasaki engineers for helping us
Can’t decide between this and the zx6r. Never had a bike under 600cc, currently on a 140hp 130tq Harley. Want an inline 4 screamer as a second bike but Idno if this will feel too underpowered for me. Couldn’t you just put risers or higher clip ons a zx6r and you’ve got the comfort of this and the power of an inline 4 super sport.
Would this be a good first bike for daily commuting to work , commuting through the city and local roads on low rpms ? More of like cruising ? Or am I better off with a ninja 500 or even a z500?
I’ve just got my GSXR400 road bike sorted and my friends say I am much faster on that than my GSXR1100. Mainly as it can be slung into corners so late on the brakes. Great fun but have to ride it like a two stroke (comes on cam above 9500rpm, not a lot below). When I’m riding for fun I take the 400 every time. The ZX4RR is almost there for me, but it’s a bit too expensive and has a steel frame which is ridiculous for a supersport bike.

After thoroughly researching and studying the Triumph Daytona 660, the R7, the Aprilia 660, the new GSX 8r and CBR 650.. my son decided to get this bike. He picks up this KRT edition this week. @@davebewick I have a ninja 650, I've also owned a lot of bikes between the 2 ranges over the last 28 years, and yes, the 400 twin would be quicker up to maybe 50mph and the 650 would be a lot quicker up to 60mph, but the 400/4 would beat them both on top end. But that isn't the point , 400/4s are so much fun as they sound amazing and are easy to ring out at leagalish speeds and still make you feel like a GP rider. no, brother only gsxr8....150% better . r7 no high revs yet hugely uncomfortable ss seating yet no ss performance ...gsxr8 try it, magical modern , keep for 15 yrs easily
anyway, people seem to just love contradicting themselves with sports bikes, they'll say a ZX-10R is "too fast" and say a ZX-25R "doesn't have enough torque", but both can pop wheelies and both can do extremely illegal speeds, of course a bigger bike will have more torque and do even more excessively illegal speeds too, you either want that or you don't, or care about that or you don't but they're all fun to ride and are pretty much all impossible to actually rev out to redline without being a bit silly
Reasons why I won't upgrade my ninja bikes is Australia's 2 year unlimited mileage Kawasaki warranty. Don't get me wrong I'll be doing stacks, full exhaust and ECU once I don't have the thrash all day peace of mind. My 500 is the one I'm doing first as Aus 45hp not 51 USA so I will get even more of a power jump 🎉. That's a while away though 😢
"If I had a zx10r I think I'd rather have this" Said no one until today 😂 Jokes aside I like this little Ninja. But I'm 6'1" 250 lbs and I'd look like a gorilla on it. Will be sticking with my '23 Hayabusa for quite some time. For me, it's quite comfortable with a Helibars riser block. I commute to work with it when the weather is nice.
this is the bike that you don't want to buy in used form... its has to be revved all the time, even with proper oil change schedule imagine the load this engine has to suffer :D
OK. Here's the truth before we all get carried away with things. The only way you're really going to have fun on this bike is if you rev the absolute tits off it. Below 9000rpm is it absolutely gutless. Now admittedly my other bike is an R1 but the fact remains - this ZX4RR has less than 30lbft of torque. I've had these 400's before - ZXR400's back in the day. Same with them. They are an absolute hoot in the rev range - so like 12,000-15,000 rpm - but you have to keep the revs in that range - drop out of it and you struggle. So in traffic to overtake you've always got to keep your eye on the revs or you will find yourself severely short of power. So. A great bike if you love using the gears and are willing to stay focussed and pay attention to what RPM your at - but if you're an even remotely lazy rider and just want power if and when - this is NOT the bike for you.
Nice an R1, that's the spirit (zx6r is my ceiling and fk that idea of litre bikes😮) You couldn't be more accurate in all your comments although having quick shift/blip helps on the freeway but goes back to your point of having to be on the ball 👍. I am living my dreams and love the zx4rr but I am spoilt and also have zx6r and 500 x2 (being honest if they all weren't 40th anniversary I literally wouldn't have any of them! I'd likely have a couple of dual sports instead eg. crf300l for easy ride and a TE300 Hard enduro for my hoonigan fun 😂 (ktm same thing)
Also I would say depending on where you live comes in to it. More I think of it if you could only have one bike 24 zx6r is king. If you are fortunate I'd recommend both 💯👍 from Australia
Domestic only product as of now, the 675sr will be a hoot. Have a 450ss/sr and a zx4rr. Plan on dropping the 450 and gets 675, but the kawi is a better bike in every way
Get the R7 then, I did that. Cheaper than the ZX4RR, 180 rear tyre (no one talks about that difference and it weights a lot actually), more reliability (CP2 engine), only three HP less but WAAAAAAAY more torque (almost twice the torque). The R7 launches like a liter bike due to its torque.
These bikes are only selling in the UK well. In India 🇮🇳 you get a 600cc + bike for the price of this bike. We understand your roads are filled with CCTV cameras flashing like thunder storms 😊 so you guys like inline 4 sound only without the speed thingy 😂
@@chrispresley7212 the Z900 is cool, I like that bike, but the dimensions are almost the same. Only the engine is bigger. You are more worried about the engine size. anyway, people seem to just love contradicting themselves with sports bikes, they'll say a ZX-10R is "too fast" and say a ZX-25R "doesn't have enough torque", but both can pop wheelies and both can do extremely illegal speeds, of course a bigger bike will have more torque and do even more excessively illegal speeds too, you either want that or you don't, or care about that or you don't
but they're all fun to ride and are pretty much all impossible to actually rev out to redline without being a bit silly
Wish we had it in Europe
one of the fastest 400cc
Reasons why I won't upgrade my ninja bikes is Australia's 2 year unlimited mileage Kawasaki warranty. Don't get me wrong I'll be doing stacks, full exhaust and ECU once I don't have the thrash all day peace of mind. My 500 is the one I'm doing first as Aus 45hp not 51 USA so I will get even more of a power jump 🎉. That's a while away though 😢
unf without a ttune its eexpensive and heavy . ssounds epic. wish i had a money tree
This or the cb650r for my next bike? Coming off a vfr 400 nc30.
I was set on a cbr650r but rode a zx4rr. Fell in love with the kawi, the chassis is so damn well sorted and the intake sound is intoxicating.
Same as the zxr400 original
R7 or ZX4RR?
ZX-4RR all day 👍
being stuck on this question for weeks now, aswell. :D
really hard decision....
I watched the video from a few weeks ago and now this one... can you tell me what you were wrong about ?
just another video , for us, all modern bikes are same . this one is heavy, for rich ppl
"If I had a zx10r I think I'd rather have this"
Said no one until today 😂 Jokes aside I like this little Ninja. But I'm 6'1" 250 lbs and I'd look like a gorilla on it. Will be sticking with my '23 Hayabusa for quite some time. For me, it's quite comfortable with a Helibars riser block. I commute to work with it when the weather is nice.
An amazing bike love it to death
The best way to have alot of torque without going fast is to buy a harley or harley swap a sport bike😂
this is the bike that you don't want to buy in used form... its has to be revved all the time, even with proper oil change schedule imagine the load this engine has to suffer :D
Bro use the autoblip 😂
Zx25r is smallest
Nice an R1, that's the spirit (zx6r is my ceiling and fk that idea of litre bikes😮)
You couldn't be more accurate in all your comments although having quick shift/blip helps on the freeway but goes back to your point of having to be on the ball 👍.
Of course it makes sense.. it’s an amazing bike! It’s just way overpriced 🤦🏾♂️
Cf moto inline-4 500 will take the lead when it’s out
Domestic only product as of now, the 675sr will be a hoot. Have a 450ss/sr and a zx4rr. Plan on dropping the 450 and gets 675, but the kawi is a better bike in every way
It's so damn over priced
Get the R7 then, I did that.
Cheaper than the ZX4RR, 180 rear tyre (no one talks about that difference and it weights a lot actually), more reliability (CP2 engine), only three HP less but WAAAAAAAY more torque (almost twice the torque).
The R7 launches like a liter bike due to its torque.
@@250ignacio The R7 does not launch like a literbike, the R9 however will for sure when it comes out!
These bikes are only selling in the UK well. In India 🇮🇳 you get a 600cc + bike for the price of this bike.
We understand your roads are filled with CCTV cameras flashing like thunder storms 😊 so you guys like inline 4 sound only without the speed thingy 😂
Do some research my friend, you get two variants in india, Zx4r & zx4rr.
Hope you took your telling off on board from the dealer, Suprised they let you test another bike to be fair....
I test rode it … not worth the time and price and for reference I ride a2015 Ninja 1000sx
So it's basically a cool looking and cool sounding scooter LOL my new z900 was cheaper and faster. Im 6'2" and 250lbs so way to small for me.
Too small? What's the diference in terms of length, seat height?
I stay with my z900 and not a 400cc scooter
@@chrispresley7212 the Z900 is cool, I like that bike, but the dimensions are almost the same. Only the engine is bigger. You are more worried about the engine size. You look like those guys who prefer a Dodge Ram over a small sports car. And its ok, but you can't deny that the Ninja zx4rr is very fun to ride.
@Black_Drako it's overpriced I would rather pay a little bit more and get a 636
@@chrispresley7212 i own a 24 z900 too but this bike is way more fun.
I'm sorry, but you can still lose your license on a 400cc bike. No, I would but the ZX6 instead of the little 400. Thanks anyhow. I'm a grown up now.
I hit 120 mph easily-and not on the motorway
