    ive got a 2023 model, i ordered it when they were first announced, and picked it up last october, one of the first in the UK, I absolutely love it! I've not had a bike less than 1000cc for the last 20 years and still own a few big bikes, but this is my favourite. The lightweight, the sound, and mostly the grin factor. get one, you wont be disappointed !

    I think 400 and 500cc bikes with 4cyl engine making 70-85hp is a perfect category for transitioning from 300-400cc 2cyl engines to 600+ 4cyl engines with 110+ hp. It's so cool to hear small engine just scream while getting enough power to keep up with bigger bikes!

    I have the 2023 and just love it. I can cruise around town or make her scream on the country roads. Planning a trip on her just to see if I can. I've put a Cramp buster on the throttle on the inside of the grip so I can sit straight up and control the speed with my thumb.

    I've owned a Ninja 400 (4 years, 50k+ kms) and currently own a Ninja ZX4-RR (11k Kms). I can say that, in terms of fuel economy, they are almost similar, with the Ninja 400 getting a slight edge.
    Ninja 400 with 1 week mileage (5 days city commute, 1 day spirited riding in the mountains) gives me around 22 Km/L, while the Ninja ZX4-RR gives me around 21 Km/L. I suppose that I ride more spiritedly more often, the ZX4-RR will suffer a greater decrease in fuel economy.
    Ninja 400 is also nimbler and lighter, but the ZX4-RR is just better is almost every other aspect.

    I own a 2024 zx4rr 40th anniversary edition. I’ve put 4500 miles on it so far. I also own a 2021 zx14r (ZZR1400). The bikes are way different, but both fun. I’ll tell you what, the zx4rr gets way more attention than the zx14r (zzr1400).

      As someone who’s just getting into bikes and doesn’t really care about the speed as much as just having fun and sounding good, the 40th Edition ZX4RR is a literal dream bike.

    This bike is fire. Ye it's not competitive value for money compared to an R7, but is understandable when it's such a niche build. Hope to see the market open up on the class again. Only down side is it's gotta be screaming, no low torque for the wheelie.

    • @101BadBreath
      @101BadBreath 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yeah I have an R7 Anniversary Edition and love it for it's committed feel and any situation friendly torque... It would be pretty sweet to add this in 40th Anniversary colours next to it for fun and choice in my garage. I still feel like an R7 is the more mature option that will be used more... But a for a pure fun toy this would be great to play with.

    • @bearwolffish
      @bearwolffish 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Totally agree. I think if have an ability to keep it garaged it would make a great playtime addition to a workhorse R7.
      Think if no garage it wants to be a daily and thought more as a perfect learning tool that would probably make for a better _first_ bike in terms of power and body position.
      Also not convinced they are gonna tumble in value if cared for.

    • @101BadBreath
      @101BadBreath 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@bearwolffish luckily I am on a homestead/hobby farm with my partner in central NC with clean 1.5 garaging for my partner's Can- Am and at least 4-5 bikes - so I have the 2022 R7 and 2008 a rebuilt/modded Triumph Tiger 1050 which aI just did a spring 6500 mile ride via i40 coast to coast. Wanting to add a single (trail bike to connect with my childhood scrambler roots around the farm) and a four cylinder to compliment the twin and triple I already have. Love Kawasaki so a 40th edition ZX4-RR or 900RS Cafe are on the short list once I twist my partner's rubber arm later this year/early next year and see what available. Sorry for the essay, hyped. When working in London I had a 2018 second hand ninja 400 as a commuter - best small city sport bike I ever sold - also did a 2000 mile Scotland tour on it ;)

    • @amisfitpuivk
      @amisfitpuivk 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I love this bike, got it as my first. R7 definitely has the torque asap (but nothing beats the GSX8R for that) but the high seat height I might get sick of. The first day I rode it I thought I was going 50mph because of the sound and feel, I looked down and I was going 25 lol. I like the ZX4RR to learn on because it's like a Ninja 400 under 9k rpm, then above that it pulls away like an R7 or GSX8R. I feel bad driving through neighborhoods though. I'm kinda scared people are gonna call the cops thinking I'm going 100mph when I'm going 40

    My country license ruling based 3 categories, 2b(below 200cc) 2a(below 400cc) & 2(no limit as long its a legal bike) which i have 2a only. Owning a big bike isnt really practical here in Singapore which the highest legal top speed on the highway is 90km/h, so i just kept my license to 2a for 28 years which is 400cc & below. Been riding a Yamaha Xmax 300 for the past 2 years, thinking of switching to this(not going anything above my class, limited road, plenty of speed cams, and many enforcers) sometimes not that we were racing but just throttle to accelerate up during lane splitting & now in recent months, all our red light cameras are equipped with speed capturing function)
    Back to topic, seen few class 2a bikes(300-400cc), this is interesting and looks fun. Its engine is like the infamous comic from Japan, Initial D which the Toyota AE86 was modified by the main character's father and he himself initially didnt know how to maximize the timing and also felt the after modified version too laggy but after his father( a racer hinself) asked him to sit beside and showed him once how to drive the car drifting the downhill of Mt Akira, telling him the revs must maintain above 10-11k so that the peak power will be there at its best. Good looking bike with the Ram Air intake👍 Simply love it

      I got a new one too as my first bike. I haven't touched the higher RPMs yet because the break-in period says to stay around 4k-6k rpm the first couple hundred miles, and I've been doing a lot of engine braking to seal the piston rings. It's probably fine to go high rpm but I want this thing to last so I'm just doing what Kawasaki recommends for now

    I love the idea of 400cc 4-cylinder screamers made to the engineering standards of today. Bugs me that this model needs an ECU flash to get the full revs. Even though I love the 400cc pocket rockets, this one is let down by the steel frame making it heavier, and it weighs nearly as much as the CBR600rr. That bugs me so much that if I owned one, I'd consider saving to have a custom-made aluminium frame for it.

    I would not bother with a Ninja 650, Kawasaki really needs to update it. It's the slowest bike in it's class by a huge margin, and for a bit more you can get the ZX4RR and have _way_ more fun (but check insurance first.) If they give the 650 a new engine, then maybe. Hopefully an engine that sounds 10% as good as a ZX4RR lol

    Sounds like the bike equivilent of a Miata ? But maybe with an S2000 motor lol....I own an ND1 Miata and it FEELS like you might get arrested in minute but then you look at the speedo and you are not being that silly at all....which I mean is KEY to having fun with a safety factor built in! I imagine this little bike turns a lot like my miata also in the twisties? BTW I ALSO own an MT-10 and that bike kinda scares me if I get carried away

    Great beginner motorcycle and good for the city roads. Comes with a premium hefty price ngl. The low end torque is absolutely not something I'd enjoy about it. Especially because that's where most of the fun is. It's heavy for a 400. But that doesn't mean it's not a good thing. It'll get you used to 600's and 750's weight later on when you upgrade. I'm more curious about how long lasting that engine is. It's still a small 4-stroke 399cc pushing crazy top end speeds. Laws of physics still apply and I've seen so many small displacement engines just breakdown over time when pushed past beyond their limits. We'll see.

      I ride this bike every day to work 30 miles away. I use to own a Versys 650 that I rode to work before. This bike is way faster than the Versys in the highway. I weigh 220 pounds and this bike has a top speed of over 210 kilometers per hour with me riding it. I generally ride around 150 to 180 kilometers per hours on it. At 160 kilometers per hour on it, it’s revving at 10,000 rpm. It still has another 6,000 rpm’s to go. This bike likes being high in the rpm range. You’re not going to hurt it.

    Two things. This bike and the Ninja 400 have been thoroughly tested on track, and believe it or not, but professional racers can get more speed and better lap times, regardless of track, on the 400 parallel twin. This bike is highly overrated, and pointless. Also, being an American and watching you drive on the left side of the road, every time you quickly look up and down, and I see a car ahead of you in the distance, my cheeks tighten up and I'm waiting for you to get back over before you have a head on collision lol.
