Every MC drops it hard on this track. Treach, Chip, Freddie, Latifah then runs the show, Heavy D, D-Nice drops a dope verse and then Dres just owns it. And we out. And then we putting this on repeat because it beats anything today.
I LOVE how Queen Latifah is reppin Winston Salem State University on her sweats!!! I never paid attention to that when I was watching this video back in '92. But when I graduated high school in 1996, I attended WSSU. And now here I am watching this video for the first time in almost 20 YEARS & I see that she has my school on her sweater! How cool is that.....
@@JPR22 Woolies? That was some crackhead sh!t though. They couldn't hang with us cause hard drugs was not normalize in the Hip hop culture like it is today.
This was when artist were harder than they were in video. Gather any group of modern artist and see if the variety of styles can come close to this. You got a 9? They killed it and kept it fun.
Damn I miss those days...pure Hip Hop...I remember watching this on Yo!! MTV Raps...Treach set it off nice but Dres brought it home lovely, his “you got a 9...” line brought a smile to my face cos when he pulled his “9” out it got me like it did back then!! Long Live Real Hip Hop!!✊🏾✊🏾
My first time seeing this video! I love it ALREADY! This must've been around 93 when this came out. A video like this probably didn't have that much airplay AT ALL or else I would've known about it already 🤣!! 🤡 me if yall want but this is REAL HIP HOP!! SALUTE TO ALL in the video! Rip Heavy 🪨 D🙏!!
Come on! is Treach (naughty by nature) Chip-Fu (Fu-schnickens) Freddie Foxx (aka Bumpy knuckles) Queen Latifah,Heavy D (RIP) D-Nice,Dres (Black Sheep) Kid Capri is on the video too
Love how back in the day the videos were more grimey, filmed in teh cold benches outside somwhere without all the glam and glits. Also, enjoyed watching mc's flowing and integrating themselves to the beat. Like you see everyone doing gestures according to the beat, scratches and hits, this is fire!!!!!!!
I came to hear this jam again as I finally was able to pick up the Flava Unit Roll Wit Tha Flava on vinyl....had the CD since 92, but had been lookin for the vinyl...... This track never gets old....its as good in 2022 as it was in 1992
Man I never knew he rocked on Living Colour. I had this single in Summer of 92-used to play it non stop. I was about 14-I lived and breathed hip hop back then.

LEGENDS. LEGENDS. LEGENDS. Treach, Chip Fu, Freddie Foxx, Heavy D, Latifah, D-Nice, and Dres. 🔥🔥🔥 I cleaned out my garage yesterday and found a mixtape I made when I was in 8th grade “The PHAT HipHop Mixtape Volune 1” LOL 😂 I checked the track list and sure enough THIS joint was on it but it been so long since I heard it I forgot how it went. Anyway, here I am today and The Flavor Unit sounds as fresh as they did back in 1992. What a classic! RIP Heavy D!
Legendary Line Up, true Emcees and stars in abundance. Incredible to also see where Latifah and Shakim took Flavour Unit as a company all these years later in TV /Online production 👊🏿👊🏿👊🏿💯
nah dude, the real and true of Golden era of Hip-Hop is the 80's, the 90's come second, 70's & 80's hip hop culture created the foundation for everything 90's, do your homework! i now i was there in the bx!

@Cadilac Gaboy yeah Nas, Wu, B.I.G., Naughty, EPMD, Redman, Tribe, KRS, Onyx, Keith Murray, Jeru The Damaja, Lords, Das Efx, were all complete zeroes during this time 🙄😉
@Cadilac Gaboy I'll give you The Chronic and Doggystyle were beast and Cube and Pac were killin it but to say NY wasn't shit during this time is inaccurate at best and straight bullshit at worst. West coast had those 4 artists poppin off and thats it. 36 chambers dropped in '93, Redman(I know he's from jersey but he's east coast) dropped in late '92 and was all over NY, B.I.G. party and bullshit was out already as well as Real Love remix, EPMD's headbanger and crossover were fire. Illmatic dropped early '94 and is legendary. Tribe was always crushing it, Scenario. West coast had a hot second on top but east coast had more depth and destroyed them as the decade progressed. B.I.G.'s two albums, Pun, Jay-z, DMX, all Wu solo acts, 50, Big L, it was a wrap!
@Cadilac Gaboy "death row dominated" is a bit of a stretch. 2 great albums(Chronic and Doggystyle) that were fire and that was it from death row around this time. Pac didn't drop all eyez on me on death row until early '96 and by that time Frank White had taken over the game and all the bullshit started. I'm not one of those NY'ers that don't give respect to the west but NY hip hop is far superior overall and over all. All the little brother and sister regions catch lightning in a bottle from time to time but nobody ever dominated NY and east coast. I think we'd both agree that we'd take anything from this era over the hot garbage they try to pass off as hip hop today.
I'm pretty sure that 0:36-0:55 was filmed on the pier at Exchange Place in JC. I was a regular there in 1990-1993. WTC, raised things the trees grew in & the railing brought back a strong memory of that pier.... You can briefly see the train station at Liberty State Park in the distance at 0:39...

"Burn marks on my hips from my twin Glocks" is a cold ending line.
