I was diagnosed with stage 1 HER2+ breast cancer at age 31. After two surgeries, over one year of chemotherapy and 6 weeks of radiation.....the cancer has returned, just after hitting my 1yr anniversary.
Selena, let me start by saying haw sad I was to hear this news. I was immediately transported back to when I was 35 again. I also had a double mastectomy when I was 35. My lumpectomies only caused larger lumps as well. I only tell you this because I’m now 62, and have celebrated each year as a blessing. The good news is that at 62 , I no longer have to have mammograms, no more anxiety about cancer, I don’t have to wear a bra anymore if I don’t want to, you can have any size new boobs you want, and best of all as a senior I don’t have saggy boobs 👀. They look like they did when I was 17. It will take awhile to get there but get there you will! Choose your plastic surgeon well. Be picky, they are your boobs after all. Ask to see pics of patients they have done. I went to 7 before I found the one that best suited me. Also lean on people. This is not a time to be independent. You will need people to do laundry, grocery shop, and easy tasks such as that. You want to do exactly what the Dr says because skin graphing which is usually done, can become infected easily. Take advantage of delivery food, Amazon and the whole foods thing as well. Take up maybe a new hobby for rehab. I began to crochet and still do today. Try and keep your mind as busy as you can, or you will drive yourself into a frenzy worrying. Remember it’s a journey and not a race. I wish I lived closer to help you. I am a cancer nurse in Canada. You r making a good decision having bilateral mastectomies. The emotions you r experiencing right now r Ok. Allow yourself to be angry and sad and pissed off. This is your time to look after you. It is about you and it is your right to do, say and feel how you want. I am sending positive thoughts and a big Canadian hug!!

My sister had the "unicorn" boob it did the trick and she is cancer free now 15 years. She was only 38 when diagnosed. I would have both removed too. Be upset, be angry. But you are going to be fine. This happened to a friend of mine and she's been cancer free for five years now. I, for one, will be an avid prayer warrior for you. I will pray for you every day. We are with you through this Selena. Love you girl ❤️
Oh Selena, I cried with you sweet friend. I'm so incredibly sorry to hear this news. You're one of the strongest people I've ever known, and I know you can and will get through this! All of my prayers are going up for you gorgeous, have faith that the Lord will see you through this 💓 we love you!

Be sad, be strong, be mad as hell. It is your time, but let your strength push you through. Two beautiful women in my life delt with double mastectomies way back in the day before
breast implants were available. They both had wonderful lives. In fact one is still living a full life at 90 years. Don't be afraid to get pissed off, but remember when tomorrow comes it is okay to be happy too. All my strength to you.
First of all thank you for being so strong to share with us. You are amazing. Be mad a hell, be sad, cry all you want. Use remember you will beat this! I'm sorry you have to go through this but you will be fine. I had a double mastectomy last year with DIEP. You are making a good decision to get it done.
Taking just one small step at a time will move you through this difficult situation, there are better days ahead. As the saying goes: This too shall pass. Please let positive thoughts be at the forefront of your mind, you're a strong woman remember that! Repeat positive affirmations out loud to yourself often and see yourself well in your minds eye. Believe it! You and your sweet husband are in my prayers. You're not alone...;-)
I had uterine cancer and it didn't go well I had a long recovery due to an open wound. My husband was my rock and my Angle. It wasn't for him I would have had to stay in the hospital for 4 months and I just can't do that. So my yearly check up said well now you have vaginal cancer. I so understand your issues. It hits you like a truck in the chest. My prayers are with you. I will send you all the strength and good vib's I can. We all will be praying for you.

I am so so sorry you have to go through all of this. You're right, it's not fair. One of my friend's sisters had the same procedure about two years ago, and it went well, she has fully recovered and is living her life the way she wants again. I will pray and hope that you have the same success and that you are fully healthy and feel peaceful and happy again (reasonably) soon.

Prayers! I know it's hard and I can't imagine what your going through. My older sister had cancer when she was 18 yrs old and she ended up going through ratation and chemo. And it still came back. She was also told she would probably never be able to have kids. Leaving this on a positive note she's been in remission for 10 yrs and she has her 5 beautiful children that are hers. As sad as it is everything happens for a reason and God has a purpose for what your going through.
P.s I love watching you, you are amazing& believe you can fight through anything. Never lose HOPE! #Power in Prayer!!

Selena- I wish I could give you a GIANT GIANT hug! OMG! I cannot believe you are having to deal with this! You have every right to be very upset! I cannot imagine how difficult it has been this past year, in going to each check up, and feeling so anxious each time! I have seen you this past year throw all your joy in the things you love, and I feel that has helped carry you though. You have focused on what you can do and not what you cant. You are brave, you are normal, and you can be mad, I think that’s healthy. And opening up and talking out loud is helpful, that’s why I talk to myself a lot, it keeps things right in front and helps to cope. Your doing the right thing, remember Angelina Jolie’s removed her breast for fear of cancer, so it’s good. I am certain you will get through this and be great. Omg! Selena, I’ve been following your channel. Imagine my surprise to have an old video pop up (with my favorite TH-cam Star) pop up during my search for cancer patients stories. I love ❤️ you, your mom, your hubby & who can forget Milly??? I recently had complete hysterectomy, including fallopian tubes, ovaries, cervix removed. All biopsies prior showed benign, surprised when I woke up to Fallopian Tube 2B cancer. I’ve had all the feelings you so eloquently put into words. I’m trying to be positive but I don’t always feel that way. I’m so glad you fought otherwise I would never have met you (via TH-cam), laughed with you & now cried with you! You are truly a beautiful soul inside and out! I’m hoping to go back to work after my first chemo 4-16-24. I have to admit, I’m scared. I don’t want people to look at me with pity. I don’t know how fast my hair Will fallout. I’m 65 yrs old & struggle with retire but honestly, I need the $$$. Thank you for sharing honestly. It allows me to be “real” & honest. You truly are an inspiration!!! May God continue to bless you free from the past with joy for the future!!!

Salina, I am so sorry you have to go thru this again. I have a good friend who has had breast cancer twice and had to have a double mastectomy too. She had fat and tissue removed from her own body for reconstruction. She was 40 for her first bout and 50 for her second bout. She is now in her seventies and doing great. She has always had a positive attitude thru the whole ordeal. If you would like to correspond with her, I'm sure she would love to correspond too. Just let me know.

Bless your heart. I have a lump now, but won’t see my doctor until July. You are so young to be dealing with this for a second time. I am 71but, believe me, the feelings and the fear are the same. I have the advantage of watching this three years into the future, so I know how well you will recover! I know this was such a hard time in your life. I am so happy you have recovered so well. My sister in law dealt with this last year, but kept it totally to herself. Her husband told my husband, his brother, but made it clear his wife didn’t want anyone to know. I think her journey was harder then it had to be, because she was alone. You are a brace young person. As I often said about my daughter, who has passed, “she’s not afraid of the devil himself”. You are the same, Very brave. My daughter died at 44 from a heart attack, in her sleep. She had osteomyelitis at the age of 10 and almost died the. From sepsis. Every day past ten years old was a gift. Your life is a gift, too. It’s nice to see you using it so well by surrounding yourself with beauty and love, as well as showing us how to do the same!
I am so sorry. I appreciate your courage. A year ago, I found your videos after my breast cancer diagnosis. They helped me get through the worst of it. I will hold you in the light.

I have just found your channel and been backtracking. No dates attached. Been there, did that. Then found out I have cardio problems. Two stents later, I amfine(??). Just take it one day at a time and keep prayin !
I've been watching your more recent videos and had no idea you were a cancer survivor and had to make such tough choices at a young age. My son was 5 when he was diagnosed with a low grade brain tumour and ended up needing two surgerues, chemo, and meningitis after the first surgery. He is now 16 and fared well. He has developmental issues but not related to the cancer. Kids are so resilient-its amazing. I also had low grade breast CA. bilat with a few lumpectomies and radiation. The body doesn't look the same but it could have been worst. Sorry for the long response. I love watching you and your friend on your adventures and had no idea you went through this prior to those videos. Thank you for being so open about your life;you are strong and beautiful inside and out.

When I was visiting my sister at Fox Chase in Philadelphia, I meant a girl who just had reconstruction surgery. She said to me Don't make me laugh because it hurts. Then she laughed, pain and all but she had a hug pillow that the center gives you. She would hold it up to her chest so she could talk better and sneeze and laugh. My sister had progressive cancer, brain, lungs, throat, behind one eye which blinded that eye and bone. She went to hospice after that. She passed away on May 23, 2015. She had high spirits up to the end. She always had a smile on her. She was so much braver than I could ever be.

Now if I saw this back in 2017 and told you that everything would work out and you will be able to raise your arms and be okay you may not have believed that. Well now it is 2021 and you are doing great! Thank you for making these videos and helping so many younger woman that may be going through something like this. You were stronger than you ever knew.

Sweet girl, I am so sorry that you have to go through this again. You've every right to feel angry, cheated, frightened and sad; you did everything that was expected of you the first time around. I've had the same feelings; I'm a breast cancer survivor since 2004, as is my Mother since 1992. Unfortunately, my sister did not survive her battle and passed away in 2005. I remember the panic that I felt with every follow up exam following my mastectomy, and still do. The most important thing that I have learned in this journey is that your breasts are not what makes you who you are. What's most important is your life and your friends and loved ones who are a part of it. Tell this cancer to 'F' off and get it out of your body, so that you can get on with your wonderful life with that gorgeous husband of yours! If you are looking for reference material, I would suggest Dr. Love's Breast Book, it really helped me with the decisions that I had to make. You are in my thoughts and prayers. You will get through this!
Good girl very sensible,I know it’s awful news but if you look at it in the right way you are removing the danger along with the breasts. Your life will get back to normal it will take time to heal mentally and physically but truly it will all be behind you. Feel for you bless your heart, your strength is amazing

It's okay to feel the way you are feeling. I had a lumpectomy. And I have to have all those mammograms. It straight out fear to here this. I know they tried to get me to remove mine. I didn't have it done mine was in the duct. I know you probably don't want to here this right now. But I trusted in the Lord to get me through. Praying, reading anything that was there to help me through. And I had depression for a long time too. You are in my thoughts and prayers and I cried watching this it hit you. When you go through things like this and then here that someone else had it or had it even harder.

My heart goes out to you. I am encouraging you to keep fighting for your life. I also want to encourage your husband and asking the Lord to strengthen him. When you hurt and go through this I know he hurts too. My husband had stage 4 cancer and he survived it and I suffered through it with him. You need each other. You've made a goid decision. You can do this! I have gone through very similar situation, double mastectomy. The surgery is not painful at all, you will be sore and you will have drain tubes for a week to deal with but honestly I was walking in the park 3 days after surgery and a week later back to the doctor. All I thought about was that the cancer was out of my body. I actually felt better and was on the road to recovery. I had my surgery in NYC at one of the best hospitals in the country. There are nurses, doctors and social workers that will provide you with everything you need, including special pillows to put under your arms. There are plenty of support groups within the hospital I encourage you to go. You are a strong women and you need to rely on your optimism and strength and trust in your doctors. You can do this! It's really not as bad as you think.
You are such a beautiful person inside and out you are such an encourager. Your positive attitude on life will help you get through this I have missed watching you lately .I will be praying for you .God bless you.

I'm so sorry. This is so disappointing. Thank you for sharing with us this challenging time. I'm 55 years old, and it's taken me a lifetime to realize God knows everything about me in detail, but wants me to know him thoroughly. I hope you will seek him. Of course, I will pray for your healing, but I also pray you will be near the Lord and find peace and abundant blessings through all of this. That's my best advice.

Thank you for sharing your news with us. It IS unfair... for you, your husband, your family, your friends. Good for you for auditioning surgeons and arming yourself with knowledge and reaching out for support and ideas. Being proactive is essential in these situations in life. I'll be surrounding you in sparkly pink healing light - just tons of it ! So when you feel overwhelmed, close your eyes, take nice deep breaths and see and feel the sparkly light. If you listen, it makes beautiful sounds, too. Be gentle with yourself. Feel what you feel. But also feel the strength and love we are all sending you. XO
