- 46115 Scots Guardsman with its distinctive 3-cylinder beat climbs over Ais Gill Summit with a Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express, 15 February 2014. Mark 1s and heads at lots of windows, happy days indeed. The weather had just cleared to give way to a beautifully mellow late afternoon.
Many thanks to my Dad, Peter Ainsworth, for the first shot approaching the summit.
Thanks for visiting my TH-cam channel, which features just a small sample of my material. For more info on my latest projects and Blu-Ray and DVD releases, please consider signing up for my newsletter: www.linesider.co.uk/mailing-list
Perfection, a Scot coming over Ais-Gill summit unaided. I re ran several times I enjoyed it so much. Reminds me of a Peter Hanford recording of many years ago "On the Footplate of a Scot " and that was Scots Guardsman. Many thanks 🎉
Hear hear Stuart, " There's nowt like a Scot on the S&C".
You mention Peter Hanford and 'Transachord' - what a man, to have the insight to get out there and record our heritage eh, for us all to enjoy!
I still have, and play his 45's and LP's... halcyon days gone forever but never forgotten eh?
Many thanks Stuart, glad you enjoyed it so much.
Beautiful locomotive, stunning scenery, excellent photography!! (I like the steam-leaks amongst the coaches…nice authenticity! New subscriber, Virginia.)
Thanks again John, yes I like the steam leaks too - very much a vintage feature.
Lovely ex Lms royal scot
LoveRoyal Scots on this route proper locomotives would love you to capture a Jubilee on the same route as they are also very much a loco that saw a lot of service over these rails
I'm glad you made this video it reminds me of my transformation from a nobody to good home, $34k monthly and a good daughter full of love
$75k biweekly changed my mindset and behavior, my goals, my family and I've to say this video has inspired me a lot!!!!
wow this awesome I'm 41 and have been looking for ways to be successful, please how??
No one likes market risk, but without longer retirement, taking on risk is often a necessary evil to compensate for inflation
My wife is willing to work for another 5 years if needed. Are we in good shape? Will we be okay if I begin withdrawing from Social Security when I'm 41 and my wife is 40? Should we hire a financial planner to help us navigate this?
These are crucial questions for a financial planner. I met mine at a NYSE summit, and with her help, my wife and I reallocated our $1.7M portfolio between a traditional IRA and a brokerage account. She's been making investments with our approval and has helped us recover twice our losses. We're holding steady and carefully navigating more markets
Beautiful!
Many thanks :)
Brilliant captures and unassisted too. Regards, John
Many thanks John, much appreciated.
Superb and before the mandatory diesel when crews and locos were doing what they were designed to do
Many thanks Neil, exactly right, can't beat unassisted mainline steam.
Power and glory, just beautiful
Many thanks,a lovely afternoon to be at Ais Gill.
Brings back memories. I travelled over this line in the 1960’s a coulpe of times behind “Scots”. Great film!
Thanks Alan, glaf it brings back happy memories.
Great capture MK1s and no diesel Heaven
Many thanks Martin, much appreciated.
12 coaches on and no banker!
Working well.
Wonderful capture of sight and sound 😊
Many thanks Mike, much appreciated.

Many thanks Simon, a wonderful afternoon to be at Ais Gill.
Great location ,Great locomotive one of Britain's best well done
Many thanks Paul, much appreciated.
A Royal Scot with 12 coaches on, what could be better.
LMS coaches - and a "Thames - Clyde" headboard.
What could be better? A Jube with 13 on! It has been done during my travels.
No diesel 😃
Lovely sight, but the really "right" engine would have been a Jubilee!
Hmmmm a 5X would not have handled that load, BUT I partially agree, that over the S&C a Scot or 5X are 'the' engines for that route!
I will have to dig out some Jubilee stuff for you.
@Linesider1
Well that's so kind of you, David... however, even though I reply and acknowledged, it was not my request! But yes, please keep 'em coming, as such nostalgia is in short supply.
