Such extraordinary sweet sadness ~ bitter sweet some would say. I can picture and feel this as one one his deathbed, with this being the last sound ever heard. Literally a Swan Song. Feels perfect. Maybe a good one to play at one's funeral. Definitely one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written.

Listened to many singers performing this piece - wanted to compare sounds, because I'm practising with a women's choir ... I like the sopranos more than the versions from counters, for me it sounds more "fitting" to rhe melody and text
I had to look up what you guys meant with Penthouse LOL. This is such a beautiful aria from Händel. I think this one is sung slightly too slowly for my taste. Look it up guys, the first time I heard this song was in the movie Farinelli (long, long ago) beautiful rendition; if you like her voice, then Cecilia’s rendition of it is also better than this one. This one is slightly too boring for my taste.
