You can't do that during a live performance.

I don't know anything about opera and this kind of singing. I don't know the origin of this specific verse, I've heard it in a movie for the first time. But since I heard it, it gives me a feeling of peace and clarity. Huge respect to the singer, she gave me goose bumps!
No one sings this like her. Most sing the aria so strong with little to no dynamics but here you really hear the mourning and softness of defeat. Her musical touch always evokes such deep emotion ❤

Not "light", please! Do justice to her beautiful rounded timbre and her ability to sing low notes with such resonance and warmth. You are probably (and happily) to young to remember Emma Kirkby and her clones that plagued early music's revival until the 90' singing everything, from Dido's Lament to Bach's Passions with an ever smiling and girlish straight tone somewhere between a boy soprano and an English high voiced folk singer - and an emotional and expressive range to match... In those days, a marvelous tone and style like Lezhneva's or Kozena's would have seemed "too operatic" for .... Handel operas!!! Fortunately, now they are "allowed" to sing what they should and the public doesn't have to put up with the limitations of that "always sing like an English cathedral chorister", "the brighter and lighter the better" fashion, but in the old bad days, I and my generation had to!
Superbly sung by Lezhneva. Surely just as Handel would have wanted. I am not sure about the concert hall, however. It looks like an archaeological site in the process of being protected from the rain.
