      That's because Swiss are not hoons like the British. Regardless of what the Official British version to the world shows- superior to everyone- in reality the English people in particular are completely uncivilised. Just watch their behaviour on the sporting fields for example and the "tourists" -

    Theatre is half an amphitheatre. Amphi in Greek literally means double. Theatre is for speeches and plays, while amphitheatres are more for ‘sport’ venues. There are many Roman sites spread all over Switzerland by the way, some of which are more spectacular than the one you visited.

    Just to note, if it says 1916 at 39:26, it's not an excavation site. WW1 broke out in 1914, so they're not going to be doing archeological excavations in 1916. Switzerland viewed Germany as a threat and over 2/3rds of the men were conscripted into military service. The country's human resources would be focused on building vast tunnel networks, trenches, and fortifications in case the country was invaded by Germany.

    Regarding your Swiss Travel Pass, you have free transport on trains, buses, and ferries. Some cog trains and gondolas are not fully covered but typically are discounted by half. You also can gain free admission to most museums. Also, I should mention the SBB app is excellent. You can put in your destination and it will show multiple ways to get there, with, of course, exact times! You can even filter by mode of transport. It really makes it easy to get from here to there.
    We recently spent about double your price for a 15-consecutive-day pass and we definitely got our money’s worth, taking multiple expensive trains and ferries, along with the discounted gondola fares. Keep up the good work, and we hope to see you on the road someday.

    Hi Gabriel, check out the High Tatra mountains in Slovakia, on a smaller scale it’s also a great place to see and much cheaper. They have many trails, a lake called Štrbské Pleso, cableways, small surrounding villages via a tram, really cool. You take a special lift from Štrba called the zubačka.

    • @Ojstra
      @Ojstra 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@GabrielTravelerVideos , if you go to High Tatras in Slovakia, Štrbske Pleso with lake and ski jumping hill is amazing but the most imposing and spectacular is the cable car ride from Tatranska Lomnica to Lomnicky Štit (to the peak of 2,634 metres high with amazing views to all of the mountain range). However, this ride to the top of the peak must be booked some days earlier in advance on the VT (Visoke Tatry) website as the last third to the top (from Skalnate Pleso to Lomnicky Štit) has a capacity of only 45 people per hour. Nearby, just on the Polish site of border, another amazing (the best foothill) view to the High Tatra highest peaks are at the lake Morskie Oko (Two Mad Explorers had a good TH-cam vlog from there and many other parts of Poland as they were in the country for like 3 months). Of course, Slovakia is full of surprises - 2 hours away from Visoke Tatry, near Prievidza in the Trenčin region, there are beautiful sites of village Čičmany (very unique of black&white painted houses in traditional patterns) and one of the most beautiful romantic castles in Europe in Bojnice.

They knew you were coming to play the California disk golf champion from 2015-2019 but they cheated and placed moving wheeled targets. No surprise to see Roman ruins around Europe many parts of Europe for over 5 centuries saw the Romans. No tourists around the town aside from that just a quiet village real shame. I'm sure there must be some nice restaurants.

    Travel pass costing $270 being valid for only three days does not make much sense in terms of saving money.
    In order to pay off, you would have to be constantly travelling by train across Switzerland for three days in a row, which is not very practical.

      Exactly. In retrospect it was a bad deal that cost me money, I'll explain more in another video.

    I instantly recognised it as a dolphin, look at its mouth. Why did you think it is a dragon ? (the creature depicted in the mural)

      @@GabrielTravelerVideos , today (on Saturday) is a stage in the French Vosges mountains (above Alsace region) which is only some kilometres from Basel (the finish line is like 79 kilometers away), that's why that question made sense in some way. :) As you showed Basel on the map in this Avenches video, there is not only border with Germany, but also border with France, so Basel (the Swiss capital of pharmacy and city of Roger Federer) is like on the tri-border area of Switzerland, Germany and France. However, German and Swiss German are dominant languages there in Basel as Alsace region in France was also predominantely German speaking during the history with German architecture in towns, although it was many times changed from German to French crowns and after WWII French became more dominant language there to this day. Vosges and Jura mountains made language barrier (German-French) more clear.

      @@Ojstra I was thinking of trying to visit Basel as well, sounds like a nice city. But not enough time in the day.

      @@GabrielTravelerVideos , yes, Basel is a nice city, also has a nice old town (with some such different red historic buildings), there are spectacular Augusta Raurica roman ruins, but is often overlooked by tourists and is not in their itinerary as it is labelled by many as an industrial city and is not near the main tourist sites in the Alps. Of course, it is never enough time on trips to cover all, but maybe interesting to know if you are anywhen near again.
