I found the Mooer was the most natural and subtle sounding along with the small stone so for the kind of music I play those 2 win. Then again, all sound great to me, I'd just use them for different things. Thanks for the great comparison
Small Stone kicks serious ass-awesome for epic slower sweeps/ very wavey and dramatic.Also great for funky distorted Jimi vibe.MXR always sounds way too processed and non transparent. Electro Harmonix is the true diamond!
I feel like the EHX pedals sounds better with overdriven sounds than with clean sounds. For me MXR and Mooer wins. Hard for me to admit that because I don't like small pedals and Mooer. But I'm considering buying the Ninety Orange.
I think I'm sold on the Mooer Ninety Orange! Love this shootout, was a good comparison of the different pedals. The MXR seems a bit more sharp when it goes in and out, the EH models had too much going on for me to deal with. The Phase King was a little over distorted, and the Van Golem sounded like it filtered out a bunch of tone. That's how I heard them, anyway.
Hi Lloyd! The Mooer is a great, compact pedal that perfectly captures what the MXR EVH does on a third of the prize (and 1/3 of the size, and with true bypass). The MXR EVH sounds a little rounder and fuller to me, but only if you really pay attention to it. And I agree, the last 2 pedals on the the left are not really that great. Thanks for your comment!
I think the Small Stone wins for me just because it had the least effect on volume. The Phase 90 is a lot more watery sounding which is nice, but that volume jump can get difficult to contain in certain settings
Thank you for doing this. Not sure if this was already mentioned...THIS IS POST DISTORTION. Which is fine for exposing the the phase effect in a more pronounced way. Not if you are want to be subtle.
Small stone has the best tone , l have a 1974 script logo. I have a feeling the ehx small stone would still win. The nano series seem to have smoother more sag & compression and less plastic stiff sound & feel.
yep, there are some infos in some SP fan websites, but I asked you in order to purchase any phaser the closest to that sound. Please, try to listen the intro of that song till the phaser sound part. Thanks again.
I just listened to that song again, I have the feeling the new MXR Phase 95 on it's 45 setting would fit. OR the standard Phase 95, but with the script engaged. Having said that, the overdrive on that riff is equally as important, sounds to me as if they had a EQ set to almost radio freqencys (HP and LP). That's my best bet really. Have a good one, Mike!

The 2 phasers at the extremes are the most pronounced.. to My ears that is... ...but I have the the big black 1976 Maestro Phasor _(Balls/Speed)_ and that one puts all of these to shame..
It really depends what kind of sound you like-the MXR style of phase or the EHX style of phase. If you like the MXR, you can't go wrong with the Mooer or the Phase 90 (or even better: the MXR EVH Phase 90, great pedal), if you like the EHX style of phaser, the Small Stone or it's wilder brother, the Bad Stone are great!
For all around versatility I loved the Phaser King! It had a natural sound and just seemed to make everything sound better when it was on. The MXR was cool but very effected/processed. The EHX's are great pedals for specific sounds, they can be either very subtle or crazy wobbly. The Mooer and Movall? sounded to me like they changed the tone too much and were a bit artificial.
Nice vid man. One recommendation: get rid of the drums. Can't hear the full tonal character of the pedals. That Phaser King is awesome! A ton of tonal variety. MXR sound best. Can't even hear that the Mooer is phasing--there is no audible sweep, no feedback at all. Not a fan. Winner for me is the Small Stone, followed by Phaser King.
Love the Neo Clone Chorus over these Jokers ! Had the original Small Stone in 70's had to deal with it thats all we had ...then came the Electric Mistress Wow . No Music Content with these JUNK !

To be honest I don't think so. It's digital, has quite some noise IRL and doesn't sound too great all in all. Cheers, Mike
