Everything was so aesthetically beautiful back then. I was collecting vintage Pyrex and sold most of it. I think Pyrex can make a come back with the despise of plastic nowadays
this is already killing me in the intro because my parents have a Ton of tupperware and still use it. 30 seconds in and I'm already going "have that. have that. have that. didn't know that stupid cheese grater in the cabinet Right Now was tuperware. have that too." help
Wow. Tupperware was so commonplace as a kid. My mom didn’t sell or have Tupperware parties but she did sell and do parties for Home Interiors. It was home decor very popular in 80’s and 90’s. You could host parties and order from a seller. I see a lot of it on Etsy now.
My mom used to have Tupperware parties in the early 80s. They didn't seem to have the pretty pastel colors then, I just remember everything being avocado green, fire orange, harvest gold and dark brown. This is one thing I'm not too sad about going out of business because even as a small child I hated plastic containers and dishes. They do hold onto odors even if you wash them well. I use glass or ceramic as much as possible.
I went to several Tupperware parties in the 70s with my mother. The quality definitely is better than many modern brands. I still have several pieces that must be over 40 years old and they are still as good as new.
I bought some of the Mrs Maisel collection and love it. I noticed recently there were more offerings in the collection but they’re suddenly gone from the site. I hope they come back. I love Tupperware. It’s so much stronger than the grocery store containers and the seal is way better.
Thank you for this! I never knew that Tupperware had been around for so long. My mother held a Tupperware party in the early 80s when I was a very little girl and told me it was a new way to store things. So I have always believed it came out in the late 70s or something. Also, I refer to all plastic, resealable containers as “Tupperware.” Most people probably have no idea what I’m talking about, I just assumed everything of that nature goes by that name. Sad that the company is dying. Maybe I’ll look into hosting a party if it isn’t too late!
My mom loved Tupperware! They also had a lifetime warranty and in the rare case something broke, she could trade in the piece no matter how old it was. Wish more companies did this today!
Oh my goodness who didn't grow up with Tupperware! It was so amazing at the time to have easy and convenient ways to store leftovers. I used to love Tupperware and still have many of those products. I loved Tupperware parties back in the day!
They were fun then as most of us were newly married and some had young kids. The parties often featured recipes too! Back then the homemaking was more important. Thank you Laura 💗
I had Tupperware parties in the early 1980s, and also attended parties, so I have a lot of it. After all these years I still use many items every day. It's great, none of the lids have ripped, containers, strainers, drinking glasses, and mixing bowls etc. are all as good as new.
I loved this video ❤ so many nostalgic memories of my mother and grandmother’s Tupperware parties during my early years 🎉 I still have most of their vintage Tupperware still in a special pantry, and I would never sell, thanks for covering this topic
Target had a vintage Tupperware collection recently called the heritage collection, I picked it up and am so happy I did! The quality it amazing! Much thicker than most containers, if taken care of properly they could last you a decade if not more.
I have my grandmothers Tupperware glasses from the 1950s and very similar ones I bought in the 1990s as well as many other pieces I bought. I also hosted a party at that time. I still have some pieces my family had from the 1970s and 1980s. I remember many other pieces we had back in the 1960s including the narrow juice container and Popsicle maker, and a set of freezer containers which we used for years. Seems like some of the best things (i.e.home parties) are now gone.
I love Pyrex bowls with lids. I own a bunch of them (including Hello Kitty!) and they are so great and worth the $8 each. I've owned most of them for 7+ years and have had zero issues. I like Pyrex because I can reheat meals in the microwave, they helped me lose over 100 lbs lol.
Wow, I didn't realize that Tupperware was still around. My mom, grandma, and aunties had quite a collection and would come after anyone who didn't return them when they borrowed. Tupperware was a superior product, more than anything else on the market back then. That may still be the case. They had a container for every occasion, and the pieces would last for years without any signs of wear and tear. My mom would shop for discontinued pieces at local flea markets or estate sales. Now that I know they're still in business, I will purchase a few. Thanks so much for sharing.
I can still remember the distinct sound of the tupperwares seal doesnt sound like any other i used a big 1 id freeze it with water every night before soccer practice and id leave it in my locker and by soccer it still had a cube of ice but was perfect for 2 years i used that one just for that and it never warped or anything it really was high quality and nice i remember when the last lid got thrown away i remember the last piece even My mom bought such a huge lot of tupperware we had it for most of a couple decades❤😊 i loved it being a young kid i loved playing like i was cooking with it it also was super good quality we never had issues with lids i wish we still had some
Had an Aunt who sold it so we attended a lot of parties and had a lot of it from the 70’s and 80’s. Still very useable! I still use my moms celery keeper. She had a deviled egg carrier and a cake carrier that went to every holiday party/dinner. I had a Tupperware lunch kit in 6th grade, it was orange. I think I still have the lidded cup! The popsicle maker was useful as was the head lettuce keeper. It really was a value product back then. Times have changed so much because of the internet. People don’t socialize in person like they used to so selling parties just aren’t as appealing. Most people today don’t want to have people over, which is sad.
I remember Tupperware parties very well. They were fun and other brands followed suit including bag and shoe parties, skincare etc. They were a lot of fun and the hostess would always get a present as well for hosting.
I love tupperware, though I am a little afraid to use it and stain or ruin my beautiful pastel pieces. The 2 things I don't like are the prices .. and that they put out some great pieces I would love to buy, but then I see it's only available in colors I don't like... I think at this point their client base may be made up with a large portion of us being those who love vintage, but do not want used, stained, only plastics and would rather have a new unused item, but still long for it to be the vintage... reproductions are their best bet, to keep profits up ... pastel colors, straight reproductions ( I personally want the pastels, but others may even want the 60's and 70's colors ) Maybe they should take polls, offer choice of colors on items. I don't want to see the company go under either. Also, if their website had a payment option with a payment plan such as paypal in for or afterpay, they would probably get a lot more sales ... their latest set of pastel bowls was priced at over $100. - not a lot of people are gonna pay that all at once for plastic bowls and lids... but with a payment plan, many more probably would ( myself included )
I'm so happy you did this video about Tupperware I remember as a kid, my mother having a temporary party and we always had Tupperware at mama's house and when I got out on my own, I had my own Tupperware and I love Tupperware. It's a good product, and I've always liked it. Thank you for doing this video God bless you.❤
I definitely have a soft spot for Tupperware lol my grandmother sold it to supplement her income as a full time RN because at the time nurses only made minimum wage. By the time I came around, she was no longer selling it but their home was stocked up as well as all my uncles and my mothers home so I grew up thinking everyone had Tupperware kitchens. I was a little disappointed when I realized that wasn’t standard and that the cheaper store bought plastic storage wasn’t as durable or nice haha 😂 the pastel vintage sets are goals to me 😆
Tupperware is hands down the best food storage. I’ve stored vegetables in the fridge and they became forgotten in the back. When I opened them 3-4 weeks later, they were like new. I went back to using my Tupperware regularly after that. It’s just too expensive to buy new, and I’m missing lids
Laura Jane ~ You're wearing my favorite cherry earrings & red petal print dress ~ so cute 🍒 I too am a nostaligic company preservationist & dislike buyout or dismantling. Never used tupperware ~ was always into making exact portion & not storing in refrigerator. Also was always very anti-plastic & preferred using fine China 🤷♀️if any to be chilled. This was a great window on the iconic ware of Tupperware. Thank You Laura Jane 🍒
my grand-mother have the one that her mother had and still use them they look like she bought yesterday the quality is insane she take good care of them but they 70 years old and still look like new
Hi Laura, I still have my mother's Tupperware colander (sp?). It's the best. Tupperware is dishwasher safe. Us kids used to get to 'burp' the Tupperware. I was born in 1960. Tupperware is/was waaay better quality. Toni x
I had Tupperware cups and they lasted forever. They were of really good quality. I bought them at a church fair. A lady had a table set up with all of the products.
I still have one beverage pitcher. The top gave up being leakproof and airtight long ago. They all did that eventually and I tossed them. Now there are Rubbermaid containers, which are cheaper.
Tupperware is incredible. I grew up with it. It was part of our life. Moms always had parties. They had tiny little princess phones as gifts for guests! The parties were so fun! The products are 100 💯 times better than anything out there. However now.. too expensive.
Rubbermaid is the more visible brand. Them and Ziploc plastic containers are what I’ve know my life, but going to visit older family members, I’ve seen a lot of Tupperware in their cabinets
I still use the measuring cups. They're probably over 30 years old. My mom stored it in the cabinet above the fridge haphazardly. Whenever we opened the door something would always fall on us.😂
Tupperware is made without the BPA toxins that other cheap brands may contain. So it's probably why it's more expensive, quality. And of course cause of the name, Tupperware who created it.
My like of Tupperware faded in the early 90’s although I still have my parent’s Jello mold with changeable designs. I try to avoid storing anything in plastic and use vintage refrigerator dishes with lids.
I went to a Tupperware party in my early 20s. I found it awkward and antiquated. Tupperware has always been pricey, even decades ago. The containers have a tendency to become discolored, bad smelling and it's not microwave friendly. My opinion is it simply didn't keep up with modern lifestyles and address stiff product competition. There are options in the marketplace that have solved all of the aforementioned problems.
I love vintage Tupperware, I’ve invested in the new range that keeps things fresh for a long time , I hope it lives up to its claims because it’s very expensive. 😊xx
Tupperware parties were a huge thing in my childhood neighborhood. Sad to see it's on the verge of extinction. I remember my grandmother had olive green and orange. My mom had a tall, cylinder shaped Tupperware cup in pink (Grandma had a green one), and it was the only cup I would drink Coke from at home
Tupperware is much better quality than its competitors. I have modular mates that i have had for years. Modular Mates are the best for pantry organization. I have tried other products and they just do not compare, plus their products have a life time warranty. I am having a party, because i want to see the company survive.
Laura - would you consider doing bios of more historical women of the past such as Queen Victoria and Queen Consort Elizabeth (the Queen Mother)? I’d be interested to find out what their favourite foods and hobbies were 😊❤✨
I really enjoyed this video. Makes me feel like we should rescue Tupperware, bring new audience to it only to promote reusable instead of single use. And they should be circular economy of course
Tupperware got to the point it was 20 times more expensive than competitors who made just as good products, as a ex Tupperware dealer I became embarrassed at the prices back in the 90’s and they got only worse just before their downfall this year
📌Public Warning: Tupperware wasn’t BPA-free until 2010. So any Vintage Tupperware you got from parents, grandparents or thrift finds most likely aren’t good for your health. Do some research and see if you care enough about it, lol. I still love my Vintage sets, just be aware. 👍
I have had Tupperware for years...and frankly, the lids have warped and can't be used any longer. And that's by hand washing. I've never put my Tupperware in the dishwasher. These days? I'll purchase Rubbermaid. It's better quality, I think, not as expensive, and more readily available.

Stainless steel storage containers are better I think, some of them you can also use in the stove. I always have some problems with glass ones because I have kids and sometimes they break.

I just attended a Tupperware party last week, it's going strong here in Phoenix, Arizona. It was packed with Tupperware Lovers ❤
Phoenix has a large population of retirees familiar to the brand.
Everything was so aesthetically beautiful back then. I was collecting vintage Pyrex and sold most of it. I think Pyrex can make a come back with the despise of plastic nowadays
I know right ?!
I loved Pyrex cookware!
I bought a Pyrex kind of bowl at a flea market and I'm happy because it's hard to get in Poland 😊
this is already killing me in the intro because my parents have a Ton of tupperware and still use it. 30 seconds in and I'm already going "have that. have that. have that. didn't know that stupid cheese grater in the cabinet Right Now was tuperware. have that too." help

In basically all reviews, glass wins for that reason..

Child of the 80s and remember many a Tupperware and Home Interior party hosted at my mom or grandma's house

I was shocked to see our local Target store selling Tupperware brand.
I wish there was a target in Canada

Tupperware was part of our kitchen growing up. Love it! Still do, and i hope it never goes away. 😢
My friend still sells it now 😮 this is neat loved it ❤❤🎉🎉

Does anyone remember, "if it's round, make a sound, if it's square, leave the air" ? Or am I just getting really old? LOL
my grand-mother have the one that her mother had and still use them they look like she bought yesterday the quality is insane she take good care of them but they 70 years old and still look like new

I want to try the mrs. Maisel collection
I remember Tupperware parties in the eighties - i think everyone i knew had a rabbit shaped jelly mould and used them for kids parties!
Oh so interesting! I do agree the current prices seem $$
I remember my mom having Tupperware parties! Good times…
I went to at least 2 or 3, the last one being around 2002 or 2003. I still have pieces and they are in perfect condition. The parties were fun!
Rubbermaid is the more visible brand. Them and Ziploc plastic containers are what I’ve know my life, but going to visit older family members, I’ve seen a lot of Tupperware in their cabinets
They do still have Tupperware party's ( selling them) here in Denmark 😊
I WOULD LOVE 💕 TO GET SOME MORE TUPPERWARE IT'S A GREAT!
I still use the measuring cups. They're probably over 30 years old. My mom stored it in the cabinet above the fridge haphazardly. Whenever we opened the door something would always fall on us.😂

The Tupperware 16.32 plus is so glamorous
I just love Tupperware. I'm James!
I went to a Tupperware party in my early 20s. I found it awkward and antiquated. Tupperware has always been pricey, even decades ago. My mom had those bowls.. 🙂
The only tupperware I have are 2 lunch boxes and a coffee mug..
Tupperware “rock n serve” freezer to microwave containers from the 90’s were awesome
I remember my mother having Tupperware, Princess House, and Mary Kay parties in the 90s and 2000s.
Love Tupperware! Actually your video inspired me to go stock up.
That’s how they revive themselves… TH-cam reviews ❤
Love your earrings ❤🍒
I still see a suv in my area that has the logo all over it
I love vintage Tupperware, I’ve invested in the new range that keeps things fresh for a long time , I hope it lives up to its claims because it’s very expensive. 😊xx
Earl Tupper is my 1st cousin, 3x's removed
Tupperware parties were a huge thing in my childhood neighborhood. Sad to see it's on the verge of extinction.
I remember my grandmother had olive green and orange.
My mom had a tall, cylinder shaped Tupperware cup in pink (Grandma had a green one), and it was the only cup I would drink Coke from at home
Everyone I know had Tupperware and my mother had the parties. Good times 😊 I was there for the food 😂
Tupperware is much better quality than its competitors. I have modular mates that i have had for years. Modular Mates are the best for pantry organization. I have tried other products and they just do not compare, plus their products have a life time warranty.

Even though Tupperware was an mlm it was a good product
I went to their website and wow are they expensive ? I only use glass containers no plastic.
I still love and use Tupperware. Unfortunately it is pricey :(
📌Public Warning: Tupperware wasn’t BPA-free until 2010. So any Vintage Tupperware you got from parents, grandparents or thrift finds most likely aren’t good for your health. Do some research and see if you care enough about it, lol. I still love my Vintage sets, just be aware. 👍

Fun fact - in Spain we call all food containers "táper" 😉
Mr. Tupper messed up when he banned her.
We are trying to move away from plastic storage containers in our home and prefer glass. That may be another reason of Tupperware's decline, because us post-boomer generations get to see and live with the long lasting effects of plastic and the damage it does to the environment.
Ya maybe that’s true
Stainless steel storage containers are better I think, some of them you can also use in the stove. I always have some problems with glass ones because I have kids and sometimes they break.
Same. I only use glass storage.
Do you have the slightest idea about how much energy is necessary for the production and transport of glass items?
@@KischteBier/Last longer and is truly recyclable, unlike plastic. This off sets any initial additional costs.
I believe it was the women with there parties that made Tupperware lots of money.
Jesus Christ loves you and has a great plan for your life.
