I was given the "Betty Crocker Cookbook for Boys and Girls" for my birthday in 1962. It had some great kid-friendly recipes in it ... and after all these years I still have it!

My mom had that old Betty Crocker cook book, as a teen I would make that pineapple upside down cake so frequently, from scratch. It was so good! If you make that original cake from her recipe, you'll love it!!! Also, try the popovers in it, so easy and good! Made them for the family all the time to go with dinner, ❤

When I was younger, I used to bake Betty Crocker and Duncan Hines cake mixes for my parents and family. When I was 12, I branched out into baking and cooking for the family from scratch. We liked the chocolate, golden yellow and angel food cakes. Stir N Frosts were something I made when the cousins came over. A topic suggestion would be author Barbara Taylor Bradford and her romance novel A Woman of Substance. It's one of the favourite books. Thanks, Laura.

I was born in 1964, and I remember baking cakes from the Stir and Frost kits. I own a Betty Crocker cookbook today.

I’ll have to look for that BC lost recipes cookbook. I have the picture cookbook from the 50’s that I found at an estate sale.
When I use cake mix I usually buy Duncan Heinz, probably because that’s what my mom used. But I really like the bc brownie mix. I only wish I could enjoy desserts more often!

Wow, this was an amazing story, and I can't believe that I never knew she wasn't a real person. I'm a bit older than you, and wonder where I have been all this time :) Yes, we did grow up with Betty Crocker, and I've actually been thinking lately of trying some of her recipes again. I haven't had pineapple upside down cake in a very long time. It is good, and one of the only ways I like pineapple. Maybe I will try to make it soon myself. Really great video Sweetie :) Have you done a video on Mrs. Albee? If so, I will have to try and think of someone else :)

Thanks for the informative video!! I enjoyed watching and listening! When it comes to cakes, I definitly grew up making boxed. We never made anything from scratch. I got into making things from scratch the last few years, finally. Im 31 haha 👍🏻 God Bless 💛

My favorite recipe was (and still is) the pineapple upsidedown cake. I also loved the stir 'n frost cake mixes. 😊

Oh Dear ~ Laura Jane~This is a great vid ~ But I thought Betty Crocker was a real person😮 ~ We did not have Wikipedia a couple of decades ago so Betty Crocker was a household name ~ even mothers thought Betty was real ~ Well there goes the 'Easter Bunny' ~ I have to grow up😅.Mother had The Betty Crocker Book on the Family Room shelf ~ Think I might have used it but we also had a set of European cookbooks & I was studying French by age 11 so I went for the European Cookbooks ~ I liked to make cakes from scratch ~ but sometimes they were not perfect ~ "it's just a mix" was a phrase often uttered if somebody really liked a cake ~ Think I had the "Cherry Chip" Betty Crocker once at my friends house ~ her mother was wealthy and would have bought Betty Crocker Cake Mix ~ Love Cherries & kinda remember it ~ What an empire was built around this brand 🎂🎂🎂 ~ Surely a different era ~ As always your vids are fun informantive and make Sunday an especially bright Sunday here at Laura Jane Matinee ~ Thank You Laura Jane ❤😮
But I would definitely like to go back to a simpler time ~ no work on Saturday & Sunday ~ People visited each other at home for cake or pie and tea ~ did not go out to places ~ ladies still sewed ~ just walking to visit someone was the norm ~ too many things happening now ~ think I am a vintage girl ~ 👗👠📖😮

I love a good cake mix. It's just your dry ingredients already together for you. I dr mine up with whole milk and melted butter and they always come out amazing. I've never seen cherry chip (I'm from the US) but I'd love to try it one day.
