      I don't have Ivy in my garden so cannot comment on the effectiveness of this remedy I read about.
      Cut the main stem which is growing vertically, wrap ducktape around it forming a cup around the stem, then pour in your choice of Ivy killer, the article recommended cider apple vinegar, and keep topping the cup up and eventually the ivy will get the message right through down to the roots and do as my wife suggests I do, FOAD.

    I lived in Southern California, it never rained in the summer….until the one time we were out of state on vacation, came home to the front yard with a few thousand tiny ash trees that had sprouted from the fly away seeds of ash trees planted along our street and helped along with that one rain!
    At that point we decided to removed the ivy ourselves, it was a huge undertaking, the roll of ivy becoming so large that we could no longer move it,
    it was literally as large as those round bales of hay one might see on a farm or ranch. Thank goodness we found someone to haul it off, then we put in a beautiful lawn that was the envy of our cross the street neighbor who thought I got up in the middle of the night to water an fertilize it!😂😂😂😂

    • @acreslawncare
      @acreslawncare  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      😂😂😂 wow that sounds like you had your hands full 😂 in the uk ash trees will grow anywhere as we have such wet weather they grow so quick and roots are very deep so need to catch them early . Thanks for watching

    Hi Alex & Gary, I`m glad You 2 took the Ivy off the fence, looks way better!! Ivy is really bad everywhere, cuts off trees to grow, bad for flowers, don`t like it climbing houses either! So you 2 did a Marvelous Job, it looks so Good!! Wow, good job on Ivy rolling it up off the fence, but if bigger bags it would of fit, but Alex cutting it to fit in your bags was a good idea!!

    Great job! Much better without the ivy. I don't understand the attraction of ivy; it is invasive and damages everything it is attached to. The previous owners of my house had a big ivy garden. It was a royal PITA to get rid of it all, and I had to keep at it for a couple of years because tendrils kept sprouting up.

    If the neighbours don't like it either, there's a back-breaking day's work there to dig out the roots! 😜
    There's one situation I like ivy and that's where its planted to grow up a wire chain-link fence, AND kept REGULARLY trimmed. It makes a great looking, evergreen hedge and gives you the screen much quicker than growing other types of hedge. Only downside: it really does need trimming regularly to keep it a tight narrow screen.

    I had an Ivy problem at my old home. I started removing it and the neighbor came out all upset because she liked it. I told her no worries I’ll just remove it from my side lol

    Much better! Great job you’re both really fastidious. Ivy would eventually brake the fence, as it does to Mortar between bricks. English Ivy is banned in some places. Just found this channel and you both do excellent work.

      Ivy does not break mortar. I can grow into cracks that already exist, but it does not break mortar

    I see alot of yards with Ivy, creeping along walls or fence lines, I'm assuming it has become a invasive species of ground cover..... nice job on your yard!

      Thanks for watching . It is very invasive, if left it’s a nightmare maintaining it.
