This process worked for me, with one exception - I discovered it was required to momentarily disconnect the battery and allow the car's computer to reset. Once the battery was reconnected, the re-sync procedure worked like a charm. If you are following the instructions and it's still not working, try a battery disconnect. Solved my issue. Hope that helps someone in the future.
Worked for me! 2012 GTI Mk6 FOB spare wasn't working. I went to VW, and bought the $15 Battery. Still not working. VW tried to tell me that just Programming Costs $210, lol. I told them I'll find it on TH-cam, thanks anyway. They laughed. Joke's on them. LOL. THANK YOU.
We had no idea what happened to the FOB. The alarm would work, but nothing for locking or unlocking. Your directions worked like a charm! Thank you, sir!
Video worked! Absolute god send. Had my car for 3 years and the dealership told me I need new keys and the control module. I woke up this morning and decided to google it 😅 found your video and had my key fob back in less than 5 minutes. Never bothered me because the keyless entry always worked. But it started to bug my fiancé when she had to wait on me to get into my car lol
I have a 2013 Passat and this happened to me. I thought the batteries were dead but when I changed it, it still was not working. Then I thought my fob was broken and was going to buy a new one. This video came out just in time!! I tried it out and it worked for me. Thanks!!
Okay I’ll try tomorrow, I just purchased a Jetta yesterday and the fob isn’t working. I took it to get a new battery and it still won’t work, I’ll try it in the morning and see what happens
BOTH my key fobs suddenly stopped working. The car does not respond to any buttons on EITHER keyfob. The batteries in the fobs are fine. Is this the same issue? How does it happen? Is the procedure the same for the second fob?
@lewisworden1626 sort of, ended up putting old battery back in and got the red light on the key fob when I pressed it. Tried on car and its worked since! Two new duracell batteries wouldn't work in fob tho, wasn't getting red light? No idea why
@@calderjack7818got the same issue here. Two new batteries in each fob. Worked fine for a few days now neither of the fobs light up when pressing the buttons. It’s very weird
Did you hold the key with your finger the whole time on the unlock button or just push it briefly once ? You gotta be more specific with these videos pal
You did all these steps? Does the red light on the key light up? 1) remove the key cover on the driver side door 2) press unlock on the key fob and manually unlock the door 3) start the car
A tip: My 2014 Tiguan was unlocked when the fob battery died. I discovered that even though I could get in the car via the unlocked door, the programming did not work until I followed the video and first unlocked the driver door manually. Cheers!

Umm one...one question? How would one disconnect the battery of a 2018-19 volkswagen passat?

Does it work with seat ibiza 6j 2010?
Dude you saved me $240 from the stupid dealership. Thanks man great video
Both my keys have no light as well. Would this approach work still? Did your have the red light flashing still when you did this?
Change the key battery and see, I believe it was still lighting up
My sincere gratitude. I tried your method and it worked. Thank you so very much 😊
I tried this with my 2018 Golf R, and it just set off the alarm. Didn't fix anything.
Hi I've a golf 8 no ignition can you help please
It worked for my 2021 GTI while I was on hold with the parts department at the dealership😅 thank you!
You mean the stealership lol
LOL exactly! Hey real quick though I got in and started the car but the lock and unlock still doesn't work on the remote. Any ideas?
@@Bluddsport77 you have a push to start?
Yes
That's the best
The whole key FOB thing on new cars is beyond annoying. I hate when technology introduces and expensive problem when no problem existed.
Like power windows
Worked on GTi mk5, tx! Just had to lift the cap slightly off the mechanism, started car, turned off. Whacked the cap back and all sorted.
Glad to hear!
Any idea what the cap removal/loosening does to enable the key to pair/sync again?
Amazing! It worked
Thanks alot it worked for me, just like that
This only works if the light on the key fob is working. I just changed my battery and the light was working but now it suddenly isn’t.
That doesn’t sound right
What did you do have you fix it as i had the same problem
Same problem here with a second key 😑
I have one that lock works and unlock doesn’t ?
Try it but maybe your button is broken

I’m not sure why it happens, but yes it should work for both fobs, did it work for you?
Thanks it worked! ✌🏾
Does not work on a 2007 Volkswagen beetle
Great video thanks fixed my problem
You’re welcome!
Didn’t work for me. My lock button does not work
Thank you very much.

Thank you!!!!!!
Good video, but didnt work. Also shows " no key in vehicle" when start attempted
Have you made sure your key has a good battery?
Doesn't work. Every time I reopen car door with key the alarm goes off
Having the exact same problem. Have you managed to fix this?
