Gotta admit BKK is a very good airport, having a simple but logical layout regardless of international or domestic travel. I see you still like to film the odd hottie here & there lol. Good stuff!!
Great vid, and you ended with a view of the Sukhumvit Suites Hotel (to the right and above the UOB sign at Asok) where i always spend my first 2-3 days in Thailand. Pro Tip: If you need to exchange cash for Thai Baht before you "leave" the airport, go down to the Airport Rail Link area and use the exchange booths there. That is considered to be on city property, not airport, and you will get better rates compared to the airport kiosks. I've seen differences of 5 Baht per US dollar, so if I'm exchanging $1000, that is a difference of 5000 Baht, or a pretty good evening in Bangkok.
Don't do what I done a few week ago, I bought £700 worth of THB at the currency exchange at the corner, if I had walked round the corner I could have got an extra £60!! I exchanged for 40thb but the booth close buy was 43.0 DOH!! great guide!
Great work mate and thank you for playing Rheya at the end of the video! I recently purchased the Wild Nothing/Nocturne version I find the guitar work sounds a lot clearer Cheers!!
Thanks for the video mate. just a note, Suvarnabhumi is smoke free and no longer any areas to smoke airside. But According to some travelers noted in the last month: 1. There is a smoking room in the new satellite terminal by gate S122 2. Balcony through Miracle Lounge - Concourse D.
I did show a little of buying the tickets at the Airport link & MRT in the ending montage. This guy th-cam.com/video/lh8M4dkmrZs/w-d-xo.html did the entire trip to Ibis Styles on Soi 4 Nana via Phaya Thai BTS. He said a taxi would have been much better as it is a real mission after a long haul flight. Don't even consider it at rush hour! :)
The other taxi option is to go to Departures and jump in one that's just dropped off their customer. I do this at both Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang - never been refused and you avoid the surcharge of the official taxi rank.
You're right, if you're travelling light this is an option at BKK. They do have security to try and stop this but they're largely ineffective. It saves the 50 baht surcharge plus any baggage charges. In the old days with long taxi queues I did this more than a few times :)
You missed out the fact that there’s a food court on the top floor of the airport where food is a fraction of the price of all those airport fast food chains
You're right about the cheap food court. I will include it in a follow up vid along with info on direct buses to Pattaya. It's called Magic Food Point (Airport Street food) located on floor 1 :)
Excellent video. Can you please give me some advice on currency exchange. Is it best to bring cash and exchange at the airport? ATMS? Thanks and keep up the great content!
If you have a bank card with a good foreign currency exchange then using the ATMs is a stress free option. If you're bringing in currency then 147champ is right avoid the banks and change it at Superrich... :)
Very good video. I did the Grab taxi service from the airport last April, I'm not sure if it's worth it as I waited ten minutes longer than normal and if you're staying in a well known hotel then the usual taxi driver will know where it is. I just usually give the driver 500thb which is approximately a tenner, so I'm not going to be arguing over a few extra £, especially after a long flight!
Its idiots like you that spoil these taxi drivers and make them greedy for the rest. Plus in this part of the world if you are frivolous with your money, you are looked down upon and get no respect.
@mansees Actually, those people who haggle over a couple of quid are cringeworthy Cheap Charlie twats. The kind of bloke who would no doubt go two's on a bottle of Leo.
There's a small premium to pay I think but it's about convenience. They install the SIM when you buy it at the airport quick as a flash. At some 7-Eleven's in the city the staff aren't trained to register your SIM card. It's personal preference really some people prefer to get connected right away. The 5G unlimited True network is very fast with a 5G phone :)
@@bkk1126 Thanks! I was wondering how significant the discount is between places but I agree having the set it up an such is probably worth the premium
You can get a meter taxi direct or take the bus that goes every hour. I prefer the 'Cherry Taxi' service and recommend them to friends. They have a website and are very reliable.
According to some travelers noted in the last month: 1. There is a smoking room in the new satellite terminal by gate S122 2. Balcony through Miracle Lounge - Concourse D.
They told my friend they couldn't get access to the airport CCTV to locate the thieving taxi driver. Total waste of time. I think they act this was to try and reduce crime stats in Thailand...

The most informative video you've ever done.

Ouch, that's quite a few Changs! :)
Just get money from the ATMs!!
The rate higher in Bangkok City
Fantastic information . :)
Train to makasan, then on to Sukumvit with the MRT,as you showed .
Have a great weekend!
Very cool and informative video mate !!! Airport Rail Link is always my go-to option, all the way to Phaya Thai BTS.
It's very fast :)
Excellent video and information ! ;)
I normally go to phaya thai and catch bts, to Nana, will try makkasan to sukumvit, next time, great music btw😀
Phaya Thai doesn't have the skywalk to negotiate so is probably easier but it takes longer and is slightly more expensive :)
Great work mate and thank you for playing Rheya at the end of the video! I recently purchased the Wild Nothing/Nocturne version I find the guitar work sounds a lot clearer Cheers!!
No worries, love that song :)
Helpful info.....thanks.
Hope it helps someone :)
Fantastic updated video of the airport! When is your next hotel review?

Subscribed as you do a great video and helpful info for when i come over, my navigation skills are sh-t.
I would love to see more about making the connection between trains

You missed the cheap beer place on the ground floor outside near the smoking area aka Magic.
You're right, I will include this in a follow up video :)
8:30 that asian squat is remarkable
It's great for your back apparently! :)
"You can take the girl out of the village, but you can't take the village out of the girl."
Cool video!
What camera did you use to film it ?
Thank you.
Most of it was filmed with the OSMO pocket 3

Did you mention the food court on the first floor? Local pricing and great food.
You're right, there's an affordable food court there. I'll probably follow up this video with another including more info on Buses to Pattaya etc...

Do a Phuket video dude!!

I am from the United States, I bring new $100 bills and exchange them at super rich down stairs at the airport (they wont accept damaged currency)
@ Thank you!

Just use the ATMs. You don’t need to carry a bunch of cash then. Use the purple colored ATMs, they are the best.
@@bkk1126 Thank you!

Is Thailand the only country with a “Tourist Police”?
Are sim cards/plans cheaper at local 7's versus at the airport? I have heard mixed things on this.

What is the best service to go from BKK to Pattaya?

Bell Travel to Pattaya North bus station with minivan transfer to designated hotels or Nams taxi transfer book in advance
Thank you both! greatly appreciate the responses.
I don't think the lounges allow smoking, think all smoking inside including lounges ended in 2019, so outside is deffo the last spot
According to some travelers noted in the last month:

@bkk1126 Ah ok, handy to know
Aren't tourist police unpaid negotiators in uniform ?

for a SIM use AIS rather than True, better network as they are the largest and with True you get 800 marketing messages a day, very annoying.
Whatever works :)
