Your forgot the mercury outboard 2stroke. They have a 2.6liter, 3liter, and 3.2liter v6 that we’re rated for 250-300hp but could easily make as much as 350-380hpwith tuning. These 2stroke v6s are still used in offshore racing today. 2 of them of a 28-36 foot catamaran can easily go 100-120mph on race day and push speeds upwards of 130mph. In my opinion 130mph for two 3liter(2stroke) v6s is very very impressive. In the 80s and early 90s some boats of similar size would run 3 if there 2 stroke monsters pushing 140mph ! Also these days Formula 1 boats run a single of these outboards and are still competitive against the 400hp and 450hp 4strokes.
You need to do a video on the 2-stroke diesels. Like the 12v71.

Evinrude v8 was based off small block chevy anyways, there are some LS1 6.0 conversions done on aluminum blocks.
@@jlo13800 haha i hope that was a joke! the OMC (evinrude/johnsons) were designed in-house and had NOTHING to do with Chevy! OMC built outboards, and all of their 2 strokes were 100% their own creations.
The 2 stroke v8s sound way too amazing for their own good. I would be revving them nonstop if I owned them. They sound nasty

@@brandonsyatessr.3667 Exactly. KX250's still smoke KX450 4 strokes. Famous MX rider John Dowd came to Southwick MX track a few years ago, took a 2000 KX250 that hadn't been started in 10 years and smoked all the pro riders on 450s by over 30 seconds.
@@Moontanman The Bimota 500 Vdue is another cool one. V4 500cc streetbike, unfortyunately it put the company out of business as they had problems with the fuel injection system and the bikes wouldnt run, so they had to design carbs for them. It actually makes a lot of sense. A 4 stroke I5 would have to run at 10k rpm to sound like a 4 stroke V10 at 5k rpm. But a two stroke fires twice as fast so they scale the same so a 2 stroke I5 at 5k sounds like a 4 stroke V10 at 5k
actually it would even sound higher for the given rpm so it would be more comparable to a straight 10. Or a V20
My earliest memories in life are the sounds and smells of my Dad's 1979 Husky 390 two-stroke. I was at a local harescramble a few years ago and all of a sudden we saw some crazy nut blast out of the woods and hammer full-throttle up a tricky hill on a late 70's Husky 250. About 200 complete strangers all started cheering and going crazy on a hillside in the middle of the woods. There's nothing like a two-stroke.
My dad learned and practiced wheelies on a V65 Magna with me like 8 years old on the back lol.
Wow, the custom made V6 at the end looks completely organic and out of a sci-fi biomechanical nightmare.
The looper engine with its 6 trumpets of Jericho is as beautiful as the boat it is mounted on. Look at that varnish and the chome side trim!
Anyway, good selection of mechanical marvels.
My first boat came with a Mercury Black Max 275hp 2 stroke V6 outboard. Believe it or not, Cosworth made the blocks for Mercury back then. Same output as the V8 Johnson, but around 100lbs lighter, and infamously reliable.

We always ra. Castor bean oil in our racing carts! Had such a good sweet smell to it! Till this day whenever I smell it it takes me back

The Mercury Marine 2.5L V6 is a racing outboard boat engine that makes well over 300hp and revs to over 8000rpm when tuned! Awesome engines!
Also that Evinrude V8 3.6L produces over 400hp when tuned up

Funny... it was 10 years ago i dyno that Evinrude V8.. when i ask people how much they think the engine is reving.. al say over 10000 rpm.. but it’s only 6k 😂😂.. Nice video bay the way 👍
My boat has a 1962 Klingelhofer Mercury 700cc 6 cylinder 2 stroke engine, it makes 70hp.

I only had a 3 cylinder 2 stroke evenrude 60 and they thing sounded like a v8. Also evenrude, johnson and Chrysler underrated power by 20% in most of there engines I herd.....

What kind of ruins it for me is all the blue smoke! Back forty plus years ago, when I raced two stroke dirt bikes we used Golden Spectro Two Stroke synthetic oil, made in Connecticut, that was a great lubricant for the engines, with little to no smoke. Or use a castor bean oil that had a sweet smell to it. Both nothing like the conventional petroleum based two stroke oils used!

yes and no. 125cc motocross bikes do. They have that zzzzzziiiiiiiiingg-sound
They are quick rev, low torque ratio to horsepower.
That's why when you see some radical set up, but only 60hp, don't let it fool you.
If it doesn't have to pull a lot of weight, it's 60hp in the snap of a finger.
The best configuration is a dirt bike by far or go-kart. Something as light as possible.

For instance the 1970's twin cylinder CZ 250-471 Sport produced only 17 HP @ 5,250 RPM but also 28.5 Pounds / Foot of torque @ 3,800 RPM with fuel consumption being 76 miles per imperial (true) gallon @ 55 MPH. The MIRA tested top speed was 85 MPH running on 99 RON leaded petrol.
The 350cc version produced 22 HP (restricted) / 28 HP (unrestricted) @ 5,250 RPM with 39 Pounds / Foot of torque @ 3,800 RPM. The early 1970's CZ 350-472 bikes love to destroy their chain adjusters and eat 428 size drive chains, hence the factory OEM restriction to 22HP (which knowledgeable owners remove).
The CZ 250-471 weighs in at 313 Pounds wet and the CZ 350-472 weighs in at 291 Pounds wet.

In general terms, there is a inherent nature to stroke principles. Two stroke is not typically known as a high torque low rpm engine.
The only debate is when does it depend.
I'm admittedly ignorant as well, never realizing till recently, there are two stroke diesel engines.
I grew up when there wasn't a internet.

There is a dyno session of the millyard h2 on youtube so you can add the hp numbers. I believe it was around 120hp but dont quote me.
Johnson and Evenrude were the same except for the paint and stickers once they were purchased by OMC.
I was expecting to also see that Evinrude 2-Stroke V8 powered Sandrail in Dubai, plus you didn't mention the Detroit Diesel engines, they even had an 18 litre 2-stroke Diesel V12

No wonder why the water in rivers etc are brown, the exhaust goes into the water from the outboard engines 😂
2-stroke engines have less fuel efficiency than a 4-stroke. However they do have greater mechanical energy, since they have a powerstroke for every revolution of the crankshaft.
Ole that’s why they’re the best, also can’t forget that they don’t have any lost torque output from having to turn a camshaft to run a valve train.
what about 2-stroke diesels? There're plenty of them! Especially in early days and today in heavy machinery and marine applications.
