Hyundai Kia trunk latch/lock failure disassembly (trunk lid won't open) 2011-2019

The trunk lock/latch will break and the trunk will become stuck. If it's a sedan, Hyundai will need to remove the rear seats to access the trunk, then use a thin tool to push inside the left side of the latch and unlock the small plastic locking piece. On later years there may be a trunk release inside the car, by the rear left seat, with a small plastic cover on it

Call your dealership for the correct part. Depending on the years the part costs between $10-$40

Need help on my 2011 Sportage. Cannot get automatic tailgate to work. I manually opened it, removed and replaced actuator but still does not open. Yhe two interior lights in rear section go on when door opens; the two lights on the bottom of the tailgate do not. Just like the latch does not open. Have checked power , fuses etc and all checked out. Looking for assistance. Thanks, Jerry
