I was in England with you. Great lecture. Thank you for doing this Mr. President. So glad the saints across the world understand also what we get to hear from Bro. Porter.
Listening from Alaska….Several Years ago I was privileged to visit Egypt with a group from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. One thing that really remains with me is a statement made by our wonderful Egyptian guide…..”Your church teaches the very same doctrine that was taught in Ancient Egypt.”
Ancient Egypt taught that Jesus was Messiah, that Jews became Native Americans and god loved near Kobol?? You learn something new every day. I suggest notifying an Egyptologist since this is incredible.
I stead of being an accuser ready to stir up contention, why not ask what was meant by the statement and investigate the sources? By the way, "Kolob" is an how it is spelled.
We went to Holy Land/Egypt with Bruce and several LDS from Arizona in 2006 or the 2007…..He was an amazing guide….very knowledgeable. I will never forget the experience. Mary/Dale Giesting
Absolutely Inspiring presentation. So grateful to Brother Porter and his dedication to the Gospel that we may all be blessed by his wisdom and knowledge.
Watching from safford, az. Love all of his videos. He's great at explaining things and it helps out a LOT when he has seemingly endless scriptures to help his point. Please keep up the good work.
because of t his i too have begun a humble learning of Hebrew Alphabet. so much to learn so little time. Please come to beautiful South Africa. I can show you a foot print in a stone in a place i know of in Kwazulu Natal.
Great Fireside. I disagree whole-heartedly with the story that Joseph used the "stone in a hat." HOWEVER, Brother Bruce Porter is a perpetual favorite of mine. Thanks so much for sharing this.
Yes. Hannah Stoddard said the rock in the hat story is so committed to the affidavits of the man "Doctor" Erastus Hurlbut who's character is heavily questioned. Why our modern historians put so much weight on such a controversial author is beyond me.
Don Bradley seems to indicate there are additional sources regarding the hat and stone. I don't have a problem with it. Joseph seemed to always emphasize that he translated by the gift and power of God; that is the important thing.
@@gemelindacjp7976Well, it makes Joseph Smith and the Lord liars in a very real sense, since there is ZERO mention of rocks in hats in the D&C in any context. Likewise, those few who were ever in the room during translation (Joseph, Emma, Martin Harris, and Oliver Cowdery) NEVER mentioned a rock in a hat. That's from anti- literature and has been embraced by some misguided intellectuals and professors in an effort, I think, to curry favor in "scholarly" circles. It's a bunch of hooey, however.
There's a great book by an LDS author that shows that there's perfect harmony between the prophetic statements concerning the garden of Eden being in Missouri and the Old Testament account concerning the garden of Eden. It's called Canaan, Babylon, and Egypt A Comparative Theological Analysis on Creation sold by Eborn Books.
Thousands of people are watching the Abraham videos by Paul Gregersen on TH-cam. both you and he seem to be similar but far ahead of the BYU scholars. Do you agree with his TH-cam video titled "Book of Abraham part 9" where he combines facsimile 2 with John the Revelators cosmology and the beast?
The church wants it both ways - a translation of the papyri then, when it is absolutely wrong, insist it doesn't matter. Odds are 99.9% that Abraham was illiterate since only priests could write at the time. It's silly to say, "We don't know how the BOA was translated" when we know exactly how it was done. Bought the scroll, tried to create an alphabet (utterly wrong) and then made it up. Not to mention it is 1400 years after Abraham lived. The BOA is JS at his best - far better than the BOM in terms of inventiveness, integration of ancient beliefs, daring (the whole "Abraham wrote it" nonsense). It's very important since it contains "the weird stuff" - uniquely Mormon ideas: many gods, progression, pre-existence, He took ideas from Zoroastrianism (pre-existence), pagan religions (many gods / progression), Along with D&C things like three kingdoms, baptism for the dead, etc these are what most people associate with the LDS.
Additionally, it is quite plainly obvious that Joseph Smith was utterly clueless about the Egyptian language as evidenced by the nonsensical gibberish when attempting to explain the structure and meaning of their hieroglyphic script.
Good posts even from me your opposite but joined in dislike of porter Again he is an apologist and disgusting however I believe he has no credibility outside of Mormonism they need him to justify the investment of time and money they made into the cult but his lies are so far fetched only a cult member would believe him----- However I have only begun an investigation into Shabaka stone and I already smell something incorrect but I just heard about this from Porter a liar in my opinion
Why do you insist in being ignorant? Why don’t you study properly other cultures? Check with an Egyptologist before saying things that are just not true (not that the Egyptologists are objective when it comes to being politically correct about contemporary religions and main narratives 🙄). PS- Do you, too, have in your books, ‘prophecies against Egypt’? The Judeo- Christian religions wouldn’t even exist (Christianity is almost a carbon copy of the Osiridian mythology) had they not worked with stolen material from Ancient Egypt religions. To curse the culture from which you shamelessly stole is the most telling thing about them.
Listening from south Africa.... Just loving listening to Br Bruce :)

@smb123211 typical anti mormon drivel. Clearly you're looking for a fight.
Within rmT Cosmology, there is nothing whatsoever therein that is taught that is akin to The Teachings of The Latter-Day Saints.
I attended an institute class of Bro. Porter's; it was a jaw-dropping experience, he is a wealth of knowledge. Thank you for what you do.

Joseph can tell you what it means, maybe not exactly what it says. That is what is most important anyway!! ❤
Where is the Book of Joseph now? Do we know?
San Diego

What is bruce porters option on the expulsion if the saints from the promise land due to polygamy viewed by Ryan Fisher?

33:20 Forgive my ignorance, but why exactly does a leader have to wear pants? What makes it so ‘inspired’? It is the testosterone, isn’t it?

@@Josephus-f1o Oh, you are my ‘opposite’? Don’t flatter yourself. 😄
This guy has to lie about lies over and over. He doesn’t believe this stuff. He abandoned his own family in San Diego. Not a good human at all.
Royal Skousen from BYU thinks facsimiles should be dropped from the Book of Abraham. He accepts the Book of Abraham as given by revelation.
