    Ralph’s 5 commandments for Photography
    1. Look for compositions, not landmarks
    2. See with your eyes, not your brain
    3. Find a story
    4. Take more photos, but make them count
    5. Too shy? So are they
    Coin it*

Perspective from different angles is a good tip, it’s crazy how it can change the entire photo

Ralph. You should be charging money for this stuff. I feel like this is a master class. I wanna do more street photography. Here in NYC there are great opportunities for that but I also dont wanna get my ass beat by angry New Yorkers who dont like their pictures being taken. Lol. Will have to try some events like comicon.🤓

I can so relate to tip #3 (and also #4 as well). I work for a photo licensing company and some of the photos that sell the most and win awards aren't technically good necessarily. Lots of great tips in this video!

    Composition is everything!

Great video dude. The first two were my favorite, but the first one even more. I guess cause it resonated more with me lol. I remember being a kid and going on school trips with a disposable camera. I would just shoot at everything and not really think about it lol.

There are times that, we can still practice the Art of Seeing without taking more photos. Try cropping. For instance, look at the monk's hand and bowl instead of the person.
With film, we often do not have that luxury of shooting more than necessary. That is to avoid the possibility of running out of film during the next photo opportunity.
As for landmarks, one can use it as a beautiful backdrop for an awesome or interesting foreground subject. Just liked the way Jerry Ghionis shooting the Taj Mahal in his "Depth of Field 2018 | The Luxury of Light with Jerry Ghionis" TH-cam video.

Hey Ralph! Maria here! About the shy point... wow! I was super shy, and now I have become a bit rude lol not rude but I just go and take photos. If I see something interesting, I go get my shoots.
And yes totally agree with the biz cards.
I would just add don’t be afraid to let your imagination go, even if you don’t get a nice photo, you learn some of the positions or angles you don’t want to do again.
Have patience, photography is an art not a software.

Thanks for this video. I'm learning photography and I was wondering how a photo should be exposed? Some ppl say to shoot in raw and underexpose. Then in Lightroom you can bring the details back.

    • @HyunRalphJeong
      @HyunRalphJeong  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Sam Primal Hi and thanks for the question. There’s no one right way to expose your shots. With film, we were taught to expose for the shadows because it was much easier to pull back the highlights, but with digital photography, the ability to recover shadows and highlights vary between cameras. Some cameras favor shadows and some cameras favor highlights so there’s no need to always intentionally underexpose your photos. But I do agree with shooting raw so you will have some headroom to play around with on both sides. Hope this helps!

My biggest tip is look for lines (geometrical and just regular) that lead to your subject. people are lazy and when their eyes can quickly rest on the subject they like it more.
