I totally agree! You can see how much of an actual fan Seth is of the original sci-fi series, but his jokes are also all over the place. It shouldn't work, but it's perfect
Seasons 1 and 2 of the Orville is the best Star Trek ever made (I'm also a big fan of TNG, Deep Space 9 and Voyager... the golden age as some claim it to be).

@@tmoore4075 Season 3 was more like 90's Star Trek than the first 2 seasons. Although I missed some of the humor, I really couldn't argue. I'm a huge fan of 90's Trek and it's obvious Seth Macfarlane knows what he's doing.
Fun fact; the creator was forced to pitch it as a Sci Fi comedy since the Fox network wanted the show to be a little bit like Family Guy since they know Seths famous for that. But for the new network Hulu, Seth stated that season 3 is his original vision for the show.

I agree. The 2nd and 3rd seasons had the comedy but was tackled more serious matters. Still the "not yet" line made me laugh out loud when he said it.

The first two seasons are definitely heavily inspired by moral questioning and human exploration of TNG.
