During this afternoon , during my luncheon, I was surfing You Tube ,and I happened to see the"Say, Tell,Speak | English Vocabulary Test",which I instantly decided to take. I got every answer correct! Thanks! Larry Carroll 😀😇🤩😘💋❤🙏
I've got 18 out of 20 in this grammar quiz and that's okay, but I wanted to highlight one mistake you made. In the question number 13, according to you "They say you never forget your first love" is correct but it does NOT make any sense. The correct answer must be: They tell you never forget your first love. Well, I enjoyed solving this grammar test afterwards. Thank you.
Jean, we always try to come up with some trick questions and that was one of them 😉 "Say" is the only correct answer. Let me explain…🤔 First, you need to know that the expression "They say" indicates what people say or think in general which means it is similar to the word "apparently" or "I hear". So you could also read our sentence as "Apparently, you never forget…" or "I hear you never forget…". The second thing you need to know is that in sentences where we introduce a new clause we remove the word "that" (try to think that the word "that" is now silent and invisible, but it is still there). Again, this applies to this sentence. So the full sentence would be "They say that you never forget your first love". I know that this may be hard to understand but once you become more fluent, it will become second nature to you. Perhaps I could give you another example. Compare these two sentences: "The book that I'm reading is great'' and "The book I'm reading is great". Both sentences are correct. To conclude… The word "say" is definitely the right answer. If something is still unclear please let us know 😉😃
I got 20/20.
Excellent Roopa! 🧡

I've mistaken only one, it's a good score?
I'm very surprised by the response 13 Are you sure that"say" is the good response?
