When I started watching your channel, I used to be at a b1 level at the very best, now I’m happy to say I’m at the C2 level and I’d like to think a part of the reason I have improved, aside from the classes I took, is because of your teachings. To go from barely understanding what people say in the TH-cam videos to being at the very least fluent in English, is crazy to think about, it feels like a whole new sense that I didn’t have, has awakened in me.
Throughout my entire journey, I have never enrolled in any English learning center, not even online. I learned English by watching your videos, and now I'm making videos for my own TH-cam channel and receiving a lot of appreciation.
The thing I find trickier is not recognising the meaning of vocabulary, which I'm able to do in general, but using it spontaneously in my sentences. Using it yourself is a totally different story.
out on a limb : opinion that is different from most people's auspicious : Promising- happy Scoff: Mock - laugh bungle : Spoil / damage exacerbate: Make worse
My score is C2-5. Wanted to share this because I didn’t know English til I was 5, and even then couldn’t get the basic words right, to completely becoming addicted to reading, writing, and speaking English at the age of 6, I became fluent by age 8, and completely fluent by age 10. Now I’m expanding and learning French, Hindi, and Arabic. Have a lovely day guys!
28/30. The last two questions were tricky for me. The new words for me were: to scoff, to scald, to scold, to exacerbate, to mitigate (not a new one, but I completely forgot its meaning). Even taking this test expands my vocabulary! Thank you!
Hi Lucy, I did 5/5 correct answers from A1 to B2, 4/5 and 3/5 in C1 and C2, respectively. I'm so happy! In C1 and C2 there were interesting new words, totally new to me.
Dear teacher, I think testing people or specifically students of foreign languages should be about the language and not about the culture because knowing idioms is purely cultural and it has nothing to do with the level of proficiency. Moreover, serious learners of English that follow serious lessons seek for academic English and not for dialects or idioms. By the way I love your content 👍
38 out of 40.. I can't wait to reach the C2 level and be more comfortable listening to natives talk. All the progress I've made from B1 in 2017 is thanks to you, the novels I read, and the films I watched. I never bothered to pick up pace but I guess now is the time!
Thank you. Got everything correct except the word 'bland'. I have never heard of it in my 30 years of speaking English as my secod language. You never stop learning... :)
Hello, Lucy! I am so glad that I got 30/30! Yayy! I love England and the English language and I love watching your English lessons! Please, make more of English level tests because I enjoy them so much and love finding out my total score! Again, thank you and please keep up the good work! Cheers!
I answered all the questions correctly, but for “bungle the presentation” I was not so sure about my choice. Only other options sound too strange to me, so by elimination method I chose the right one. Not a native speaker, but I daily use English and French for my work. So glad to know my English vocabulary is reasonably good.
Thanks so much for creating such helpful content! Watching and listening to your videos really supports us in improving our English skills. Each video you make makes learning more enjoyable and effective. Keep up the great work.❤❤😊
First of all thanks for your great work. I enjoy testing me and my kids knowledge into the English language, using your videos. I failed on Auspicious in C2 and Bungled I didn’t know but could conduct from the list of options 🙂
Hello Lucy, I really like your video lessons. I decided to write to you so that you could explain in more detail a certain mistake that even native speakers make quite often. Namely, while listening to a song by The Kelly Family entitled An Angel, it suddenly dawned on me that the author of the lyrics made a glaring mistake, and right at the beginning. I am not a native speaker, although I have a master's degree in English philology, so it was easier for me to catch it. Am I right? Here is the fragment: "I wish I had your pair of wings Had them last night in my dreams"
I seemed to have gained a decent C1 or C2 result. The word "exacerbate" was a bit tricky for me because sometimes I got it mixed up with "exasperate". "out on a limb" is a great idiom phrase which I happened to have it learned in a TV series called Breaking Bad, so I got it right in the test. Thanks to Lucy for delivering such a great video.
I Stranded somewhere between C1 and C2 and I am satiesfied with it. I am somewhat capable to even realise the meaning of words, that I didnt heard of before... PS: I really do love your voice! 😌
Indonesian vocabulary is mostly borrowed from English, Dutch and Latin, around 40%. This means that Indonesian people should accept it more easily. But unfortunately they don't even realize it yet.
yes , the word mitigate doesn't really have the proper indonesian word, as officials often said mitigasi. and when i read mitigasi at the first time, some how i had to google upthe meaning...🤔😂
At first, I thought there were many great teachers to whom I should thank them, but they have millions of thankful followers, so it may take hundreds of thousands of thanks. Then I guess some managers read them, not the teachers who read them. Then I thought I needed to say more than thanks and, believe it or not, I said very wrong things!! Then I thought the best way to thank them would be to learn, and I also failed!
I got a wrong one at the "bungled" question and the rest was done just fine because I recognised some of the words from GRE tests. Amazing video and test. : ) Thank you Lucy.
Without any regrets i barely have 29 / 30 because that word was bit challenging once then it became sort out by mam Lucy however i did one wrongen but yet I relished from this video by some extractions always when we dive into a vocabulary lesson we do explore and we also know something that we alien to that in particular so knowledge is a name to get leverage mainly new words phrases and expression's also become a part of our knowledge those we never heard before 😊.
Well, my score was 29. Yes I missed one of the C2 words. To scoff. But I also had to rule out the other options to get to the correct C2 word exacerbated. Having said this, my knowledge of grammer certainly isn't at C2 level. I followed a number of your courses and challenges. Always great fun. Aiming for C1 now. Greetings from The Netherlands. Ruud van Wuyckhuise
12:45 thank you Gordon Ramsey for beating this word into my brain for the rest of my life This was an interesting way to test my own knowledge. I had 2/5 correct in C2 (27/30), goes to show that you'll never stop learning, thanks Lucy! Btw bungled was new for me, too, I only ever used bombed.
Is there an app that I can use to improve my vocabulary? One that will adapt to my level and also show me the words over and over again until I really memorised them? One that I can set up to train me in regard to a certain application, such as formal english, scientific english, phrases and idioms, business english, novel english etc.?
Got all in this video. I need a bit more practice to get a C2 vocab, a bummer really. But, I can easily breeze through any English level test with a C1.
I actually know the word auspicous because I looked it up once I had to write some text for english homework. Now I know what my teacher was talking about when she said that I would have used "very advanced vocabulary" xD...
29/30, or 28/30 if I take answering late on "all the more" into consideration. I had never heard of "going out for a limb" before. I suppose it's not that frequently used.
I have recently begun my own channel; As an English teacher with more than 18 years of experience working with some of the biggest companies in the world. I have decided to start short lessons whilst walking around Sao Paulo. Have you got any tips on beginning this journey? If you have the time to reply, then I would be truly grateful. Justin.
28 correct answers thanks to my intuition and logic. 😂 Two last questions were extremely hard. So, if you ask me to speak English at least as a B-1 speaker I will probably fail the task.
I would rate myself as a B2/low C1, as I understand a lot of C1 words and I am able to form the structure of C1 sentences sometimes, but speaking wise and use of English wise I am still stuck in B2. Slowly but steady getting there.
