Barbara makes the weirdest snap judgements on people. A lot of folks have gotten deals while coming across much more unorganized or emotional than this girl. She has an obvious product with a clear demographic, her own following, good sales, and viral capabilities - and she partnered with the two sharks that made the most sense for her product. This won’t reach as wide as something like the Scrub Daddy, but she’s basically delivered a low-risk winner to them.

I've been very interesting in natural hair products since starting my own hair care journey at 17 and I love how Philomena found a need that has not been met and risked everything she worked for to fill that need. She's confident and most importantly she knows her facts and is willing to ask for help to grow her business. @truthseekerrrrr 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

@@zionmatrix8200 That's why I said that she might be right sometimes, In this case I do agree she was all over the place with lots of thoughts and emotions that she couldn't control and certainly affected on the negotiation process, comments like "I'm crying because I'm surprised you guys want to even make a deal with me" just shows you what she even thinks about herself and her inner monsters, the sharks smell the blood from a mile away and I do believe they went easy on her, when Mark was advising and explaining why he was out, she was saying how she was going to change only to land a deal with anyone, her reactions through the whole pitch and comments like "Ya'll can't even do 25%" while crying her heart out certainly is not the best way to do any negotiation. She looks like she has a huge heart thought, which at the end of the day it's the best trait someone can have but unfortunately in business you need to be strong and have enough serenity to control your emotions even If that's the most important day of your life, specially when it comes to negotiating, reactions like this create leverage against you resulting in a lesser or inferior deal, SO I hope that she gets to have someone next to her that has those traits because she will need it once she scales.
Imagine how she would react If she needed to fire her own sister from her company or In a tougher situation....

She clearly is not the best negotiator, the sharks knew they would get what they wanted even before they offered anything, comments like "I can change, I'm here to make a deal" "Yall can't even do 25%" while crying the whole time and saying comments like "I'm crying because I can't believe you guys want to make a deal with me" certainly gives an idea of your weaknesses and gives leverage to the other person which in this case I feel like they were really easy on her...I think they could have gotten 40% and she would still had said yes. I hope she finds a person that can control emotions on important situations like this If she wants to get the better side of a deal specially as she continues her journey and scales her company.

She's heart, art and talent. Lori and Emma will make a killer out of her products and ultimately, she'll learn and still be a major success story overnight. Rooting for her and glad she did the deal but quite frankly, it was never up for discussion, she's not good at masking her emotions ahhahah!

That's exactly why she needs those two. Just because you're a brilliant entrepreneur doesn't mean you're a brilliant negotiator (or a brilliant inventor or whatever else). That's why most of these people make deals that are way more equity than what they were asking, because the sharks know they're going to have to do a lot of the "hard" work.
On the other hand, that's why they praise good business folks and never make deals with them because they know they don't deserve as much equity then and aren't going to be making much. That's why Kevin does the royalties with little to no equity

@@nikkis8102No I never said she was crazy or “off her rocks,” where are you getting that from? I’m saying most people on the shark tank really do put in their blood, sweat, and tears to make it in their industry and they do all they can to hold back those tears because after all they have been through, they aren’t going to let a couple tears bring them down. Then there is this girl, she has a VERY good education (Ivy League) and isn’t doing too bad, in her business industry (I have no idea in her personal life), and she is balling because her family “gave her a lot of flack” for starting her company. Honestly, I don’t think I have ever seen or met an entrepreneur who hasn’t gotten some kind of ridicule or “flack” from their family or friends... It’s kind of a ritual that most entrepreneurs go through to blossom and come out successful on the other side, it’s not a reason to cry on television to get some kind of pity offer.

Very odd that everyone is calling her out for crying and being emotional. I have seen so many other entrepreneurs do the same thing(cry about family, the financial state, their job, being called out by sharks), but there aren't any negative comments about them. These people don't know anything about Nigerian families! Woo, let's just say, what you don't know won't hurt you. Sorry her story isn't good enough for you people or maybe it's something else...Anyways, congrats Philomina! Looking over your products right now!

@@laqaunza The concept of "generational trauma" is as laughable as the people peddling it. If it was true then every single hunan being on the face of the earth has generatinal trauma because every single human is certainly descended from people who had severe and traumatic experiences from one event or the other. Imagine thinking a girl probably no earlier than 1995 in new york city is a victim of "generational trauma". What a stupid id*ot.
