    I have a 1982 S10 I've been working on lately. My Dad bought it for me to drive to college in 1994. I drove it through college, my brother then drove it through college. Somewhere in there my Dad rebuild the engine. It got sold to an uncle and then sat for 15 years till he died and my Aunt gave it back to me. I have rebuild the T5 transmission in it and rebuilt the carburetor.

      @@tatertrefz4886personally I like puddin and he's a hard-working man he takes care of his girls. You know all those girls are adopted. Used to work in a factory. He is prior service. Is helping other people out. He is gracious. He's an honest guy. Now he is a jokester and likes to go from around and be entertaining. But this man is not anything as far as a joke as you called him. No I don't know anything better than watching about every program he's put out the last I don't know how long. I watch sleeper dude 88 for a long time. I even suggested to both of them that they ought to put their heads together and maybe do a joint venture or something. No I'm not saying they may have already been talking with each other. So if you meant that he was a jokester well then you'll agree with me on everything I said probably. I'm just curious. What is the 88 in reference to with sleeper dude?

      Yes sleeper dude 88 has a fantastic family. I remember his climb to 100,000. Just like with this channel. Sounds like you're a big fan maybe you will know this. Do you know what 88 refers to over at sleeper dude? I asked your other commenter the same question because it sounds like he's a bigger fan of sleeper dude then he is of puddin. After all he said puddin was a joke. I definitely strongly disagree with that statement

      I'll grant you that, but you ought to try working in a shop where you've got cranky customers lined up, cranky bosses riding your ass, and every time you turn around, you're waiting on parts.
      Not cutting down DIYers; I were one, once upon a time. But a guy that works in a shop works under a lot of pressure. Plus, we don't get paid by the hour; we get paid by the job, and the job don't pay until the job's done and the customer's paid for the job.

In that 17 years I changed the clutch and the regular parts a 284000 mile truck would need. I donated it. It would still run and drive! No Reverse. I Love and miss that truck!!

    I have a 1993 S-10 2 door, 2 wheel drive, short bed that I bought new in 1993. It only has 31,000 miles on it, and looks brand new. It has been garage kept since new. Most of the miles are highway miles. Shortly after buying it, I bought a beater transportation car, and turned the brand new truck into a project. I have invested a small fortune into it over the past 30 years. It now has a carbureted 383 small block, a 4 speed manual transmission, completely new exhaust, lots of new steering, brake and suspension parts, lots of cosmetic work, cowl hood, tonneau cover, 225/70-14 front tires, 275/60-15 rear tires, and has run in the high elevens at the local drag strip. Not a scratch on it, it has 50+ coats of liquid glass, the bottom is as clean as the top.

    I have a little experience with the 2.8. If you end up with an oil leak after the valve cover gasket change, the distributor doesn't have the paper gasket at the base. It has a rubber O ring that you have to pull the distributor to get to it. If it's bad it will leak like crazy. Keep it coming! Amy and Don from EL Reno.

    I had an '85 S10 W/ 2.5L Iron Duke on a 4spd manual. Here's the truth, so help me Lord! Me and my GF were living in B.C. Canada after moving there from Ontario Canada. After three years in BC, we decided to go back to Ontario. A guy in our building had this nice slide in camper sitting on a red '85 S10. They were sitting in the parking lot for six years. When I asked him about the camper, he said he would take $600 for the camper, and if I needed a truck, I could have the S10 for free! So I asked, what's the deal with it? Well, it's been a while but it has a slight knock in the bottom end. Not too bad, he said. But I bought a bigger camper and a bigger full size truck for it, he said. So, by the way I'm a mechanic by trade. I bought the camper and got the truck too. So after new shocks, plugs and wires, r-button, tires and last but not least, a complete synthetic duralube oil change and filter. The day came and we left for Ontario. I'll tell you, we would pull in a gas station to get gas and the guy would tell me that the diesel pumps were over there and I'd say " it's not a diesel. Oh, man the looks I'd get. Like it was gonna blow up any minute. It's funny cause the weight of the camper with all our stuff definitely weighed more than the truck, for sure! And yes, not only did I make it, but I used the bloody thing for another year in Ontario... Hamilton to be exact. It was the best truck I never bought! 100% true. I can't fault the Iron Duke. Diehard for sure. Cheers my friend...d..

    Here’s a tip on the valve covers because they notoriously leak. Don’t use cork. Rubber only. Fel-pro is good. Also do not use any RTV on it, EXCEPT where the head meets the intake. Only use a dab on that area. Zero leaks. Also, toss that EFE heater gasket from the carburetor in the trash. They crack and that’s a source of massive vac leaks. Regular gasket.

    • @MrGarfield4
      @MrGarfield4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve run into the SAME issues with cork gaskets…leaks. Personally, I’ve had excellent success using a light coating of axel grease on cork. The grease allows the cork to move a little during installation/torqing rather than bunching up which causes leaks.

    • @theoriginaljimmykicker
      @theoriginaljimmykicker ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MrGarfield4 Very good idea. I used to have leaks even with rubber gaskets. Using too much RTV is the issue. I've learned a lot about that stuff, and it should definitely only be used in small quantities. Too much and you can destroy an engine with it or at the very least make for a very messy clean up the next time. These on my truck have been perfect for 10 years now.

Mechanics were underpaid back then.Shown the door if we complained about pay, workingconditions.The lack of vacation days etc.Repairing cars and trucks year round wasn't easy.Hug a mechanic!!lol!

      @@frederickbooth7970 oh my GoD YES!! People would come peeling off the highway wanting a full tune up, tranny service, and exhaust work!!! Hundreds of times!!!! It was like taking apart, a LIT wood stove, on a 99 degree day!! Then Re assembling it!!! And getting soaking wet every winters day while on your 7th brake job, exhaust repair!!! And doing it for 40years!!!!!! Then, at some club drinking a beer or 12 ...and omeone says " Auto repair isn't hard"".." I did my wife's brakes last weekend, and it was easy. I wanted to go berserk!!!

      @@urbanurchin5930 I also said you instead of your. But I decided to not edit my grammar because in the video puddin or pudding lol said about how he sometimes says things wrong and he said if you do that then own it. So I own it as I ain’t great at spelling or grammar and sometimes my words come out mixed up. Sorry for not being a perfect person 🙄😆ps pudding is for everyone not just children eat it. If you don’t know where puddin got his nick name puddin from I will enlighten you. It’s because he ate so much pudding when he was at work one time and someone he worked with called him pudding 🍮 😊
