Well you can get Apocalypto on Amazon for $ 14.99 on blu ray as of 10/2020. Same for 1984 and the Ring. The availability is there, So much for being rare lol. It’s actually hard to truly find a dvd that is in fact out of print for an extended period considering that dvd/blu ray really hasn’t been out that long in time. We aren’t talking Vinyl records and golden age comic books here lol.

I have collected movies in various formats on and off but I am getting seriously back into it now and am looking for bolster my Bluray collection in particular. These types of videos are super helpful because it's good to know what to keep an eye out for.
Apocalyptic is a great film. I have only seen the Blu-ray available on Amazon and the lowest price was $50. Shame they cut production. A criterion would be deserved!

Terror train was released by scorpion releasing recently and has a way crisper, cleaner transfer with better extras...ronin flix has it for 26.00 with the slipcover for anyone that missed out on the scream factory collector's edition.
You can get 1984 in blu ray very easily, HMV do a special collection of movies on blu ray that come with a nice sleeve and art cards. Picked mine up a few days ago.

Spellbound and Notorious have been released on DVD only, through the Criterion Collection. Rebecca is the only movie of those three to have a blu ray release through Criterion. However, since the other two are only on DVD and OOP, I would bet that they are coming somewhere down the line. Criterion really likes releasing Hitchcock titles. There was some uproar when that blu ray 3 pack was released. Apparently, there is absolutely no upgrade from the dvd releases. They just transferred them to blu ray. Great video. Some good content there. Keep up the good work!
The train on bluray is one I think was sold out of or a limited release on bluray. This is my guess do to price of $40 and up or about $10 on dvd. My top 3 movies of all time I like are back and white. Citizen Kane- The Train and Night of the living dead. My age is showing Im 52.Good Video😎
I own NBK and True Romance on Blu-Ray, individually, I have the standard Blu-Ray of True Romance (HIGHLY underrated Tarantino script), I have the NBK digibook as well along with the Diamond Luxe Blu-Ray set that has both the unrated and theatrical cuts. 2 movies I’d LOVE to see go to 4K, especially NBK because of the art direction but I also wanna see Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, and From Dusk Till Dawn on 4K as well!

Even in Iceland they're selling UK versions of the movie, because the Icelandic version has been out-of-print for many years. - Vampire hunter D: Both the Japanese Perfect Collection on DVD and the release on VHD (no, I don't mean VHS, but VHD which is a rare format used in Japan during the 80s). - Planet of the apes: The Japanese boxset containing all 5 of the original movies (before the Mark Wahlberg version) on Laserdisc. Prices on eBay start at $100 and go all the way up to $330. - The good, the bad, the weird: South Korean Limited Edition digipack on DVD by CJ Entertainment. - Helpless: The South Korean Limited Edition digipack on Blu-ray by CJ Entertainment. I've been upgrading my collection to steelbooks for a while now and Apocalyto is one of those. I just realized that I sold my standard edition to one of my friends for like 8 dollars... I got the Zavvi steelbook now but it socks to know i had a valuable out of print copy 😭
That is really insane that Apocalypto is out of print for 8 years now. I never knew that. I remember we rented it when it first came out on DVD. It has to come back at some point seeing as how Mel's reputation has been restored. BTW I hate Twilight Time. Hate hate hate hate hate them. They've licensed some of my favorite movies, all at a time when I couldn't afford to plunk down for those discs or when I was unaware, like 1984, Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia, Inserts, Hardcore, 10 to Midnight, A Man for All Seasons, etc. By the time I realized they had them they were either gone or I couldn't afford to pick them up. Oh, and they completely screwed the Jackie Chan release they did. Also holy crap, I have that 2-pack of Natural Born Killers and True Romance! I got it from Amazon a few years ago when it was still in print. It does kinda go for a lot now but not on the scale of an OOP Twilight Time disc. And of course, you were right on the money with your comments about the Hitchcock boxset: Notorious is coming out from Criterion in January. I'm really surprised about Terror Train being OOP too, very odd. It was one of the first Scream Factory releases IIRC, from when it launched in 2012. But I'm surprised they already lost the rights.

Miami Connection is a good movie and nowhere near comparison to the fcking Room! Also its still available for dvd and blu ray on Alamo Drafthouse's website. The "Cocaine Edition" was limited! It came with the soundtrack on vinyl and a t-shirt!
“Investing” in OOP physical media is a slippery slope. Titles are never OOP for long. They usually get re-issued sooner or later (ie Apocalypto) and the prices nosedive.
I only buy a disc if it cost no more than the ticket at the movie theater would had cost me. I like watching movies, I don't like spending collectors money on them. I think 5 tot 10 bucks for a copy is a fair price, I think it was the heavy premium on disc released, especially in the early days of blu-rays is what made the mainstream move away from discs. "40 dollar for one disc? Nah, I'll take a month of Netflix for a quarter of that money" Call me a socialist, but the movie industry got their business model on discs all wrong. I should be able to the website of Universal, 20th Century, Sony, you name it, pick whatever movie I want from their library, pay 10 dollars with my PayPal and get the movie freshly printed in my mailbox a few days later. Now we are in a situation fewer and fewer people buy disc copies, therefore the companies print fewer and fewer and suddenly we see discs getting so rare, their price are skyrocketing on the 2nd hand market. Nobody wins from this business model, not the fan, not the director and not the movie company. This is plain wrong...
I was just perusing Bull Moose's website and they have Apocalypto for 13.97 Love the channel Jeff! Probably the proudest thing that I own that's OOP is the Halloween Limited Edition box set that came out in 2015-ish. Got it for $55 Now, good luck getting it for under like, $450
i do enjoy your videos but this one was kind of silly, sorry. if you add releases with a special cover on your list you can pick hundreds of releases. most of the stuff you mention is easy to find.

If it has been printed once it can be printed again , don't believe the hype. Even if a distributor has signed a agreement with the people who owns the film rights there is usually a time on how long that is and it is usually only a couple of years until the item is sold out we've all been hoodwinked and then the same or another distributor can sign a new lease. I mean look at this doozie he paid 30 dollars and apparently got a wonder deal they are on ebay not selling for 99p plus postage. Oop means nothing the only reason more of a certain type don't show up is the lack of demand. If you were a distributor would you want to commit to purchasing a large minimum and waiting for 10 years for them all to sell? What has been printed once can be printed again otherwise how would it have been printed in the first place!!! Enjoy your collection don't buy for investment its simply not a given that prices will rise. Perhaps if you buy titles like the cat with five legs or hammers house of hoochies they will go up in value. Anyway got to go I'm having a sunday film'athon. Beetle Juice beetlejuice beetlejuice.
Wonder why Disney had such a problem releasing 'The Black Hole' on Blu Ray ? I love that movie. And the film is a million times better than that awful star wars trilogy they shat out. Im guessing modern day Disney probably think The Black Hole movie is racist and has too many white actors in it. Sounds crazy, but Disney today are the kings of woke. Like the rest of Hollywood though to be fair. Modern day Hollywood movies are more of an exercise in box ticking than they are about telling well written stories. That Disney star wars trilogy should be erased from history, along with Terminator dark fate.
I get pretty lucky finding rare blu ray movies at my local used movie store. I got apocalypto for $10 and several hard to find steal books for $10 cheap, Se7en, inglorious bastards, the Shawshank redemption. One movie that you didn’t mention but I think is incredibly rare is the Willow blu ray. It’s going for between $70 and $100 on eBay right now and I got it for free because at my local store they have punch card that if you fill it out you can choose a free movie. Great vid!
STEELBOOKS ARE OVERRATED AND NOT COLLECTABLE. THEY AREN'T MANUFACTURED BY THE ORIGINAL DISTRIBUTOR NOR ARE THE DISC SPECIAL. ITS SIMPLY MARKETING = $$$ A REPACKAGING BY BESTBUY. MEH 🤔 is that bad?
I’ve always kinda disliked them. I have about 100 blu rays but only two of them (Incredible hulk and The Departed) are steelbooks because I go for the standard case if I have a choice.
The Steelbook for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 had every Bluray version of the movie DVD, Digital, 2D BD, 4K, & 3D. Only way to get the 3d version in US at the time.
I have a few Steelbooks, but most of them I bought because I found them for the same price as the regular packaging so I figured I might as well. The only Steelbook that I went and paid the extra money for right away was Bohemian Rhapsody because I LOVED the artwork on it, and Queen is my favorite band ever and they really mean a lot to me, so it is special to me. Other than very special cases like that, I generally don't bother with Steelbooks.

Cool video had no idea Terror Train was already out of print (When it comes to more rare or BR that will go out of print) a lot of Lionsgate (early pressing) and Miramax-Dimension Pictures blu-ray seem to come and go very quick the BR of Beautiful Girls came and went super underrated flick But, the BR is average to say the least..... Dead Alive isn't worth the insane price tag it's a dvd transfer upconverted Hopefully Arrow or Scream will get the rights to do a proper 2k or 4k print restoration.... Very cool 1984 Limited edition not sure how i missed that I really hate supporting TT cause there business practices are a bit shady! Great Channel keep up the good work

“Investing” in OOP physical media is a slippery slope. Titles are never OOP for long. They usually get re-issued sooner or later (ie Apocalypto) and the prices nosedive.

I only buy a disc if it cost no more than the ticket at the movie theater would had cost me. I like watching movies, I don't like spending collectors money on them. I think 5 tot 10 bucks for a copy is a fair price, I think it was the heavy premium on disc released, especially in the early days of blu-rays is what made the mainstream move away from discs.
"40 dollar for one disc? Nah, I'll take a month of Netflix for a quarter of that money"
Call me a socialist, but the movie industry got their business model on discs all wrong. I should be able to the website of Universal, 20th Century, Sony, you name it, pick whatever movie I want from their library, pay 10 dollars with my PayPal and get the movie freshly printed in my mailbox a few days later.
Now we are in a situation fewer and fewer people buy disc copies, therefore the companies print fewer and fewer and suddenly we see discs getting so rare, their price are skyrocketing on the 2nd hand market. Nobody wins from this business model, not the fan, not the director and not the movie company. This is plain wrong...

i do enjoy your videos but this one was kind of silly, sorry. if you add releases with a special cover on your list you can pick hundreds of releases. most of the stuff you mention is easy to find.

If it has been printed once it can be printed again , don't believe the hype. Even if a distributor has signed a agreement with the people who owns the film rights there is usually a time on how long that is and it is usually only a couple of years until the item is sold out we've all been hoodwinked and then the same or another distributor can sign a new lease. I mean look at this doozie he paid 30 dollars and apparently got a wonder deal they are on ebay not selling for 99p plus postage. Oop means nothing the only reason more of a certain type don't show up is the lack of demand. If you were a distributor would you want to commit to purchasing a large minimum and waiting for 10 years for them all to sell? What has been printed once can be printed again otherwise how would it have been printed in the first place!!! Enjoy your collection don't buy for investment its simply not a given that prices will rise. Perhaps if you buy titles like the cat with five legs or hammers house of hoochies they will go up in value. Anyway got to go I'm having a sunday film'athon. Beetle Juice beetlejuice beetlejuice.
Wonder why Disney had such a problem releasing 'The Black Hole' on Blu Ray ? I love that movie. And the film is a million times better than that awful star wars trilogy they shat out. Im guessing modern day Disney probably think The Black Hole movie is racist and has too many white actors in it. Sounds crazy, but Disney today are the kings of woke. Like the rest of Hollywood though to be fair. Modern day Hollywood movies are more of an exercise in box ticking than they are about telling well written stories. That Disney star wars trilogy should be erased from history, along with Terminator dark fate.

Apocalipto is great film
I get pretty lucky finding rare blu ray movies at my local used movie store. I got apocalypto for $10 and several hard to find steal books for $10 cheap, Se7en, inglorious bastards, the Shawshank redemption. One movie that you didn’t mention but I think is incredibly rare is the Willow blu ray. It’s going for between $70 and $100 on eBay right now and I got it for free because at my local store they have punch card that if you fill it out you can choose a free movie. Great vid!

I’ve always kinda disliked them. I have about 100 blu rays but only two of them (Incredible hulk and The Departed) are steelbooks because I go for the standard case if I have a choice.
The Steelbook for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 had every Bluray version of the movie DVD, Digital, 2D BD, 4K, & 3D. Only way to get the 3d version in US at the time.
I have a few Steelbooks, but most of them I bought because I found them for the same price as the regular packaging so I figured I might as well. The only Steelbook that I went and paid the extra money for right away was Bohemian Rhapsody because I LOVED the artwork on it, and Queen is my favorite band ever and they really mean a lot to me, so it is special to me. Other than very special cases like that, I generally don't bother with Steelbooks.
Most steelbooks suck ass, I do have some and like them but I enjoy slipcovers better.. Hey slipcovers are cool too
Big Lots sometimes has steel books for $5. I like to check out the selection from time to time as they get overstock from Target and the like.

Cool video had no idea Terror Train was already out of print (When it comes to more rare or BR that will go out of print) a lot of Lionsgate (early pressing) and Miramax-Dimension Pictures blu-ray seem to come and go very quick the BR of Beautiful Girls came and went super underrated flick But, the BR is average to say the least..... Dead Alive isn't worth the insane price tag it's a dvd transfer upconverted Hopefully Arrow or Scream will get the rights to do a proper 2k or 4k print restoration.... Very cool 1984 Limited edition not sure how i missed that I really hate supporting TT cause there business practices are a bit shady! Great Channel keep up the good work

Yeah i think Apocalypto finally got a re-release a few years ago but lacks some of the special features of the older blu. I still gotta grab it but def needs a 4k. I didnt know Mel Gibson "went crazy" lol

Miami Connection is so bad it’s good. I own the Blu-Ray. The story behind the director is interesting and peculiar.
