Death Grips is my happy music. For some reason whenever I feel secure and want to protect that feeling from crumbling (which always happens at some point, but it's 'right now I'm okay' that matters), I put on their music. It gives me kind of like a bird's pov on my imperfections, anger, madness and chaos. They all manifest themselves in the music, outside of my brain, and just sing for me. They don't pollute me, and instead free my head. I feel like it takes a lot of braveness and brains to conceive and then realize a project like Death Grips, not only cuz it's so groundbreaking and different, but also because not too many people can openly say or even come up with an idea that they need experimental, deafening, insane, straight up batshit crazy music to make them feel at ease. I was one of those people, and when I found this band, I felt understood without having to say a word. And for that, I thank you good sirs! :}
Video was auto-playing and this was the next up. It was late, roughly 4am and I had TH-cam up in the background. I was gonna click off but I heard Charles Manson's voice at the beginning to I decided to give it a shot. First song BEWARE was so fucking fire, all of a sudden it was nearly an hour later, and I've listened to the whole album and dont remember what planet I'm on. 10/10, underrated.
Darth Fuhrer why are you taking my comment so seriously? I understand you need to defend your precious meme rap because you're a /mu/ warrior, but my comment was to be taken in a joking matter. I think DG is cool, but the whole fantano hype train kind of ruined them. I feel like people listen to them in order to stay in the loop of aesthetic meme culture
It's a reasonable question which you took seriously. If you're just listening to it for the sake of just listening to it then you're just admitting to the fact that you have no idea what the fuck your listening to. Were you trying to insult me with your comments? I have been listening to Death Grips since before i even heard of theneedledrop and it was actually through death grips that i was made aware of his channel. Also i don't use reddit or have ever visited its website so what are you saying? "The whole fantano hype train kind of ruined them for me" how ? because more people are listening to them ? the meme culture doesn't bother me because it literally has no impact on the quality of their music. You seem very selfconscious about how people view you and your tastes
I saw em in Pomona a few years ago, easily my favorite show I’ve ever been to, they went fuckin hard in Santa Ana too, the amount of hearing loss >>> especially being front row lmao
Death Grips scratches my brain but in a good way. A lot of people will say it’s just noise but to me it sounds great and it’s what makes me keep coming back to them. Seriously one of the best things to happen to modern music IMO.

Sounds weird but this album and Bottomless Pit really helped me in a bad time. Just prior to 2020 I'd financially and emotionally exhausted myself trying to make a difficult relationship work, I'd worked hard and followed the rules all my life and was still in a position in which I couldn't even get a voluntary job working for local charities. So by the time lockdown rolled around I was broke, constantly angry and felt trapped 24/7. Then I discovered death grips and was like 'yeah this guy fucking gets it' and helped me power through and provided a warped motivational soundtrack as I slowly got my shit together. Having something that resonated that energy just really helped.
Someone had mentioned before in the comments how this mixtape geniuenly feels like it's not yelling at you, but yelling with you. I'm glad you was able to get through your struggles you had at the time, stay noided.
Exmilitary is unironically the most motivational album ever made. It's heavy, intense, angry, loud, noisy and aggressive in all the right ways, and it makes you feel like you can be strong and tough in a very raw, animalistic way.
I think I like this slightly more than The Money Store. It has a raw and dark atmosphere that is difficult to match. "Beware" alone is the kind of song I can imagine myself doing coke to.
he's telling it to you as he's chasing you. You're both doing circles around the parking lot, around the back and inside among the shelves of snacks and for the full 48 minutes
NYCTELI:OS Usually when I first hear an album, I listen to the entire thing before going back and relistening to songs. I couldn't resist playing this on repeat like 5 times before moving on to the rest of the album. It's still my favorite song by them by far.
I saw MC Ride at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly
This album for some reason was an important part of my happiest moments this year! And now that I feel very depressed, and with my heart shattered, I remembered Exmilitary! And I don't know, it makes me feel much better listen to this great album that I love with all my life!! 💖
***** No, the lyrics are head-spinningly nihilistic, and uncompromising. This is taking Hip-Hop to it's logical extreme, in all regards. The beat is incredibly detailed, and over-modulated. Brilliant drum-tampers, crazy riffs, black screeches, ect. Conclusion: You're probably a fan of Yeezus.
Eziokilla9595 Ironically, Kanye was going for a Death Grips-esque sound on Yeezus, but the darker production doesn't suit his style at all, which is why it doesn't work. Death Grips can pull it off much better, especially because of MC Ride's delivery and lyrics that are thought out much better than anything on Yeezus..
Zin Skymerald Yeezus was garbage. Anyone who liked it probably doesn't listen to guys like Death Grips. It almost sounded less like Death Grips, and more like dälek. Kanye managed to botch dälek's style, too!
Eziokilla9595 Eh a couple of tracks appealed to me off of yeezus.But i prefer death grips way more for sure.Yeezus was not as bad as i thought it would be.
Cheese is a dairy product derived from milk that is produced in a wide range of flavors, textures, and forms by coagulation of the milk protein casein. It comprises proteins and fat from milk, usually the milk of cows, buffalo, goats, or sheep.
Kind of tired of the homeless person narrative tbh. Can we talk about MC Ride's painting work and the drudgery of working a job that isnt aligned with your interests(apparently he worked in the food service industry too)
This album does have a distinct feeling of being about being deeply mentally unsound and not being properly cared for or medicated. Very unstable, very paranoid, very dark and violent. It does feel genuinely homeless
Saw this in recommended a few times over the years but I could never get into it except but the intro always intrigued me. Finally realized this album hits different when drunk this is so fucking dope.
You must understand, Mozart, Beethoven, Elvis, and the Beatles were all known as "edgy" for their days. I firmly believe we've found the sound of the distant future and it won't sound nearly as weird and out there as it does now. The world just isn't ready at this moment.
@@-panzerfaust I get what your saying but if you ever show this to normal people who aren’t really into music outside mainstream which is a huge majority of people, they will find it very hard to listen too. They think it’s just loud noise and won’t be into it. Just because you are a fat music nerd who listens to drone music or horror core doesn’t mean death grips is easily accessible to most people. With love ❤🫶

Death Grips is my happy music. For some reason whenever I feel secure and want to protect that feeling from crumbling (which always happens at some point, but it's 'right now I'm okay' that matters), I put on their music. It gives me kind of like a bird's pov on my imperfections, anger, madness and chaos. They all manifest themselves in the music, outside of my brain, and just sing for me. They don't pollute me, and instead free my head.
I feel like it takes a lot of braveness and brains to conceive and then realize a project like Death Grips, not only cuz it's so groundbreaking and different, but also because not too many people can openly say or even come up with an idea that they need experimental, deafening, insane, straight up batshit crazy music to make them feel at ease. I was one of those people, and when I found this band, I felt understood without having to say a word.
And for that, I thank you good sirs! :}

It's a reasonable question which you took seriously. If you're just listening to it for the sake of just listening to it then you're just admitting to the fact that you have no idea what the fuck your listening to.

Death Grips can pull it off much better, especially because of MC Ride's delivery and lyrics that are thought out much better than anything on Yeezus..
