MORE reasons to go to San Antone:
    1) Mi Tierra restaurant. This place is huge, colorful with year around inside colored Christmas like lights, Very traditional authentic EXCELLENT Mexican Food. The Price point is reasonable.
    2. Saint Ferdinand's Church. Almost 300 yeers old, the oldest church with a sanctuary in US History.
3,The Alamo: Great history and the rangers/ docents and tour guides will answer your questions quite well.
    4. Very reasonable prices for food (H.E. B. Stores), restaurants , rent/ housing prices, and it hardly ever rains.
    5. Proximity to Mexico, Houston, Austin and Even Dallas. Great location in a BIG State.
    '
    6. Nice Peopole .
    7. IT is so..so "Mexico" in a way Montreal is so Paris.
    8. The places to visit along The River walk...stores, restaurants, hotels, etc.
    9. The architecture both old and new or renovated.
    10. Their large indoor/ outdoor Mercado ; esp. on Weekends.

Of all the major cities in Texas (Houston, SA, Dallas, Austin, Fort Worth), I’d say San Antonio has the worst BBQ options. People get excited about Bill Miller in San Antonio (yikes!). SA’s strong point is the Tex-Mex. Best to drive North to Austin for decent BBQ.

Not sure what you are basing cost of living on but the cost of housing and cost of living in general has SOARED over the past few years for people living in San Antonio. Those 100k homes you mentioned are typically fixer uppers and if they aren't they do not last on the market more than a day or so. The cheapest you can find homes is between 130-140k and those homes are fast disappearing. I am not sure one could consider San Antonio affordable anymore.

You know I was the guy that 3 years ago wanted out of Texas. Had lived in Houston for over 3 years and I was just so sick and tired of Houston. So me and the wife went from Texas to Oklahoma, and then finally to Oregon. Well after over two years in Oregon we're going back to Texas May of next year. Specifically hey San Antonio we're coming. I'm tired of the crazy house prices oh, and the cost of living here in Oregon. Also my wife is not doing good health-wise being here. So we're Texas bound and flying. I like the low cost of living, and the job opportunities. Briggs I wanted you to know that this video was the one thing that helped me make my choice. Everything else came down to research. Also, SA is a tourist town. If you're moving here, consider the suburbs. In the "winter," downtown is a great place to walk around and eat and eat. Rivers in the hill country are freezing cold even in the summer, so tubing is what you should be doing in August. The Friday after Thanksgiving the city barricades a few blocks around the Alamo to make it even more crowded, everything is Xmas lit, along with the Xmas parade of boats that evening (something you should see at least once in your life). If you prefer even higher taxes, higher cost of living, and horrendous traffic, check out Austin!

Native born Texan. Lived in multiple TX cities the first 35 years of my life. SA is my favorite. Food: - YES!! One of the BEST steakhouses I recommend is Bohanan's. It's a $$$$ (four dollar sign) in the restaurant guides. BUT, I challenge anyone to compare the single restaurant to all those big name chains that you can think of. Really. Many of the high end chains provide a delicious experience to be sure. Bohanan's has that extra little tweak. Menu sides and complements are even more varied and broad than many of the larger chains.

Hey Briggs great video I agree that Taco Bell is not Mexican Food and is insulting! Also yeah Fiesta is definitely a great reason! When I was in San Antonio back in April I was actually visiting during Fiesta! What a coincidence! I didn't even know about Fiesta til I got there! It was fun I went over to the Historic Market and I was partying for a couple hours. They had a DJ and everything. The hotel check in lady even said you picked a great time to visit cause of the Fiesta. Also yeah it was sunny and it takes a while for the sun to set out there as the sun would finally set at almost 8 in the evening. However it did rain a little my second day there. Overall I agree with a lot of this. Looking forward to hearing pros and cons of Austin as I was there over the summer.

Hey Briggs, love this one! I was born in SA, so a little partial to it 😉. If you were at Schlitterbahn S. Padre, then you were VERY close to Portland and didn't even know it. Very possible if you took the Corpus Christi crosstown and stayed on US 181 N, then you drove straight through Portland with its 3 exits and had no clue. I told you on the live stream it is a small town and I was serious 😁. Actually, Exxon is moving in, so it is growing, BUT it will NEVER be as big as Arlington (where we just moved from) or even Corpus Christi (just across the bay). I would love to see you do a Top 10 on the Texas Coastal Bend Region (Rockport to Corpus Christi is what I believe it encompasses)

There is of course, authentic Mexican food in some places of the city, but I doubt that many native born Americans (including the writers and commentator of this vid know what that even is), but what most of tourist will find without effort is Tex-Mex. Fear not, it is delicious!
