I’m retired military and I was mentored by the WW2 veterans. The description of recruiting issues is on point and I’m indigenous. This gentleman is so on point that I recommend he get a security detail or he’ll be on a Rez. You two gentlemen need to do a separate podcast. My civics teacher in high school was General Pattons intelligence officer and was a front row witness to the Nuremberg trials. If Mr Zaharia was still alive he’d be your biggest supporter. Great job on discussing over a badly needed topic
Mine were Vietnam, and truly love those guys and talking at the VA. Not many left, so I like to get their stories. I think a huge portion of recruiting is a lot of us who served, realized no longer for our oath, Constituion and people, dont want our kids dying for hegemony. Its definitely a changing world, and to be honest, I dont think we are prepared for a long FOF type fight. People dont realize TRADOC shifted to COIN after 9/11, and fighting a hardened trained adversary of these terrains is going to take ground forces. Tech can only do so much. I would think cooler heads should prevail. Are we ready to make this the hill we climb? Real KIA in real numbers assuming it stays conventional. Who knows. Hope you are enjoying retirement.
Thank you for your service. I had just turned 18 when Nixon stopped the Vietnam era draft. I was relieved to avoid the jungles but I have also always regretted not serving. It was the beginning of the strange era we find ourselves in now.

As a natural born American who served Honorably in the US Army, now at 82 years old I am hurt and saddened by the irrational " crimes" that have been committed. I was Honorably discharged from the US Army in the year 1968 and the same issues seem to be happening again to some extent. Differences to me now is after backsliding for so long I've returned to my childhood, -faith in Christianity. Older now, hopefully w/better understanding of how the real world works Christianity, by personal experience in action, is the only salvation for the United States, its written Constitution and "the Bill of Rights." Without those, all is lost like any other secular nation. Even the United Kingdom, under the bander of Christianity, built a Great Empire without a strong Christian Britian, Britian lost its most precious faith. All the dead hero's honor of Great Britain sadly gone and dishonored, in many cases by ungrateful generation. Now, will have to fight for their "freedoms" on their own ground..."Cultural Sanitation" was at one time considered to erase traditions and landmarks a crime as a country w/no "roots" has no idea of a foundation to build a future..."A house with no foundation can not stand..."
Don't forget that the "greatness" of Britain was built on colonization and sucking out of resources from other countries, and if they tried to revolt they were brutally punished.
And all they need to do to understand what is coming for them is look at what happened to those who helped bring about the revolution in Iran: they became the immediate target once the regime they had supported took power.
It seems we are less than two generation away from losing everything previous generations fought and built for and yet our youth seems ungrateful and worse woefully unprepared for whats in store for them. I am 68 and grateful to have enjoyed this beautiful country before all of the madness we see today. Thank you for your service. Many of us have a deep appreciation for the selflessness of our servicemen and women. Be well.
Patriotism starts from two sources: family and school. Unless the school program starts to include and mandate proper education of history, especially American history, but not limited to it, we will not be able to raise patriotic children who will become patriotic adults. I am an immigrant who immigrated legally together with my immediate family, who worked in this country for over 30 years and who is a real patriot of this great country. My children went to college and have become successful professionals and are very grateful for the opportunity the U.S. provided to us. All of us strongly support LEGAL immigration and strongly OPPOSE illegal ones.
Same here. My 3 young boys are first generation Americans. My family immigrated legally from Laos in 1981. 4 of 7 siblings including myself served in the US military. My sister, and I both served over 20 yrs and retired, 1 brother was medically retired, and the other brother served 14 yrs. We definitely need more patriotism and service to this great nation.
Please thank your family for coming to America legally. I’m in my 60s and I see my age group as very proud to be American for the most part but my daughter witch is 32 after she went to college she came back different at the same time my husband her father (witch came to America in 1964 on a raft with tires holding it up from Cuba. His father was on the chopping block because he was catholic) had passed away and I think it made her very vulnerable. She does not feel about America the way I wish she did. As for you and your situation it seems like the older immigrants I’d say around 1995 they seem VERY patriotic. Especially the ones that have simulated into America. So thank you for standing proud and being a true patriot. It means more to us than you know. Take care Hello from Florida 😄
I agree with you. Parenting skills have truly fell by the wayside. That needs to change for our country to change. Being an educator I’ve observed how things have changed over the years, however. True change does start at home. Parents, who truly want their children to do better than they did is not happening now. We need Trump back in office. I do t necessarily agree with everything he does, but he certainly better than the Harris/Walz campaign.
i am a HILLBILLY from WV and the history behind, reasoning, the valor, courage, determination to give us the country we live in today has a lot to do with my patriotism
I grew up and attended elementary and high school in Arizona in the 1950s and '60s. In high school, World History and World Geography were ninth grade and tenth grade courses, U.S. History was an eleventh grade required course, and U.S. Government was a twelfth grade required course. The latter two courses were "Must Pass" to graduate. When I began my teaching career in Colorado these were the same required courses for graduating high school as in Arizona. However, in school year 1999-2000, I taught summer school courses of these same two required courses in Colorado to students who had not passed these courses and had to make them up in order to graduate high school. This was the last graduating class that had these requirements in Colorado. That was twenty-five years ago. I believe that was the beginning of the end of Colorado kids learning anything in public school that might be considered patriotic or historically meaningful for kids who would be citizens of America as they entered young adulthood.

I'm a military wife and have relatives in federal positions; everything Dr. Hanson says is correct. If you want to stave off military weakness please serve. The answer is not to bystand it's to get involved and occupy the positions that matter. Engagement of the conservatives is how we fight from within the "castle" instead of throwing rocks at the gate.
I've heard RFK Jr. say that some 70% of our military aged kids are too chronically ill to serve. I watched the interview with Casey and Calley Means talking about how the food industry and big pharma conspire to make us sick to profit off of it. After listening to this video, I can't help but think that they've also deliberately made our kids sick so that we wouldn't have a military to fight against the global takeover. The Democratic party is utterly EVIL! We have NO hope if Kamala remains the global totalitarian puppet.
I think it would be nice if young men joined the military for two years and then use the experience in the coming blue/red conflict to train up the militias. There is no reason to go into the military otherwise as the government is too irresponsible with the lives of our citizens. When there is not a single culture to fight for, then it is normal that men can't grasp patriotism at the federal level. I personally want a somewhat weaker US military so that their excesses of globalism and neo-conservatism can be checked, along with the breaking impact of overspending which will limit the foreign adventurism.

When Victor asked the question, why are all the people coming here? He posed, is it our free markets, our judiciary, etc? People do this all the time. But, they never bring up what i believe is the truth... that is, free sh1t. They came here for handouts. These aren't people that were working in their home countries. They don't have to work here, either. We have 15 million people that were unemployed or imprisoned in their own countries that are unemployed here! It's not like it's full of skilled people, either. Job 1 if Trump wins should be a temporary halt on immigration. Next any non citizen single adult male without a work or student visa needs to go immediately. Then go from there to assimilate other migrants according to the law. Also eliminate any and all government subsidies for any non US citizens. The incentive to come here needs to be based on a real reason like seeking education or employment. Before you can repair water damage you must first shut off the flow and drain the flooding.
No, they just need to go. I don't understand why people want to spend massive amounts of resources and let their own children keep getting abused to assimilate migrants, when they already have a homeland to return to.

I am surprised at the way Toynbee's analysis of the rise and fall of kingdoms and civilizations seems to have been completely forgotten. The rise of elites, their separation for the common citizens, their desire to replace native populations with immigrants have consistently been a factor in the decline of all civilizations throughout the world and throughout history along with other phenomena that we see at this time. His analysis was incredibly extensive and his conclusions relevant to our present situation. This of course does not take away from VDH's analysis but greatly helps to support his conclusions.
Rome certainly has similarities to present day. Near the end of the Western Roman Empire the 40% of the population the city of Rome was foreign born. Also, the Praetorian guard became 100% non-Roman, mainly Gauls. The reason was that they would have no qualms killing Romans to protect the Emperor. Then we have slaves that also outnumbered citizens in the city of Rome. Elites clutching power and seeing citizens as threats, cheap imported labor to keep society functioning. Rome (the Elites) tried to keep the party going by importing bodies into society and into the army, no different than what we are doing today.
VDH knows. In fact when I find myself ever disagreeing with him on a subject, I reflect and start studying on that subject because vdh knows the context better than anyone because of his grasp on history which is why he must always hit the nail on the head with everything.

Patriotism is built on investment and sacrifice. The sacrifice of generations of brothers, husbands and fathers on battlefields for the good of the country, the sacrifice of comfort and power, and the investment of a thousand years of taxation and hard graft, generation after generation. And once we realise how much we’ve really invested, we know how much we have to lose.
I firmly disagree with the young man about the Constitution , The Bill of Rights, and The Declaration of Independence. Not only vital, but solid rocks to stand on.

My son was in the US Navy when he met and married his Filipina wife. It took 2 years for the State Dept to issue her a Visa. She was a college educated nurse, a productive member of society and the wife of a US military service member and fluent in English. But every time she met w the bureaucrat at the embassy +after paying her $400 +fee), she would speak to them for 3 minutes and be told she was missing this or that, reschedule and come back or be flat out denied for no reason. It was so bad I contacted our Congressman for assistance (my son was deployed by then.) The Congressman's office contacted me to say the State Department had no real explanation other than "they doubted her desire/ real intention to stay in the US." This despite letters from us, her subsequent pregnancy, and evidence she would be a asset to the US, not a parasite. The finally allowed her in. She is now a mom of 4, an R.N. and thriving. She is an awesome wife and mother, and an integral part of our family. Best wishes to you sir on your journey.
Regarding those that have a sincere concern about raising children presently, there are a number of plausible reasons why. Among these is the presence of too many people already in the country. This is primarily due to 1. immigration, which was resumed in the 1960's after a 50-year halt. It is also due to 2. lax welfare policy, which has encouraged the breakup of the nuclear family while encouraging a greater birthrate, and to 3. the "resettlement" of population from the cities into other areas of the country. This resettlement is a large part of the Green New Deal's war against both American industry and against the ability of people to live independently in areas with low population. The greater the population, the greater the poverty, and the more demand for spending and an engineered economy, both nationally and locally. The greater the population, the less land and opportunities for which you can sustain a family of your own. In addition to this is the far greater cultural conflicts and crime, and far greater expenses in living. Combine these things and it is not hard to understand why there would be fear, instability, less harmonious marriages, and fewer quality families. This is by design, by those who have opposed the freedom and moral fabric of the United States, and have sought to "fundamentally transform" it. For these and other reasons, the United States is under no obligation to allow people from elsewhere to come to its shores. Immigration is a privilege, never a right. The strength of a nation does not primarily lie in its diversity, large population size and inclusiveness. In reality, the things that are truly valuable, strong and solvent are by definition exclusive. Therefore, the desire for the United States to be the "shining city on a hill" is best demonstrated by the work to remove and keep out the vast majority of the world, who would only serve to put out its light. The respect for a nation as 'a shining city on a hill' is not best demonstrated by those wanting to come to the light to reap its benefits, but by those who see the light from afar and want to bear it themselves, bringing hope and peace to their own nation. www.donaldjtrump.com

VDH is wonderful. Highly enjoyed this discussion and the host understands the true plight we're facing as Americans and Englishmen (broadly speaking). Subscribed about halfway through this episode. Keep it up, don't slow down and never pacify.
An excellent exchange of ideas. In my opinion, however, the one idea which connects them all and was not mentioned in the interview is Christianity as a requisite framework for western Society.
Christianity is nowhere near a requisite for western society. Western culture begins in Athens, which was hardly christian and progresses through to it's earliest apex in pagan Rome. The western Roman Empire declines and falls when it becomes Christian. The crown jewel of western civilization by far is antebellum America and it's best thinkers such as Jefferson and Franklin were not Christians at all. The cuckery of the west is a direct result of Christian slave morality as Nietzsche so eloquently pointed out and predicted what Christianity leads to... the last man which we see today. The west will only survive if we turn from the effeminate and limp-wristed values peddled by the foreign (to our European people) and bizarre middle eastern Jesus cult and return to a philosophy more vital and masculine such as Greco-Roman stoicism which actually came from the west.
Brilliant new channel, subscribed and wishing you much success. Thoughtful, prompting questions and the rare interlocutor ability to allow an interviewee to answer broadly without any interruption.
VDH always teaches me something new. He doesn't make up history, like the progressives do. Rather, he uses his in debth knowledge of his specialty in history to show what has worked and hasn't worked. That's what we citizens need to understand when we're voting for our current political candidates, as well as living our lives in a way that makes our country better.

This is my first introduction to the host. I watched this episode because of my admiration of your guest, the esteemed, highly respected Victor Davis Hanson. Mr. Pitt, it is not often that I agree with someone that disagrees with Mr. Hanson, but you are 100% correct in your assessment of Civic Nationalism vs Human Nature 38:34. As a southern born and bred redneck Patriot from Alabama, I can attest it is an innate feeling gifted at birth derived from the fundamental need for humans to belong in groups. I wish more influential conservative intellectuals and influencers understood this. Well said, ole chap.
Mr. Victor, I have never seen you so very off on so many instances. EX: Zelensky is a brave, wonderful man(?) He does fit the definition of a corrupt dictator however. Coupled with your assertion that the war in Ukraine was caused by Russia aggression, rather than NATO aggression and threats of making Ukraine a member of NATO. Additionally, the fact that two predominantly Russian speaking and pro-separatists areas, Crimea and Donbas, wanted to be realigned with Russia. Prior to Zelensky, Ukraine was one of the top five corrupt countries in the world. And today, even more corrupt. When this war is over and Ukraine is destroyed, Zelensky and his cronies will be very wealthy at the expense of the US people. What do you know about Ukrainian retirement/pensions being funded with military aid funds -- that should not have been paid from the beginning. This has been an enormous taxpayer contribution to the defense industry and large banks.
I will just add Minsk agreement this was absolutely promised to Gorbitciv (SP) to ensure the safety of the Russian people by Regan. This was key to the dissolution of the Soviet Empire. without this agreement the East European countries would have continued to be funded to main their countries.
The interviewers' knowledge of human nature and of government's thoughtless handling of immigration - and his ability to so effectively voice it - makes this a better than average interview.
‘Juneteenth’ is the date when the last slaves in Texas were told that they we free. For decades it was a thing in Texas that no one paid much attention to, except to note that there was always an uptick in criminal violence among blacks.
The passage of the 17th Amendment in 1913 which abolished the election of US Senators by the state legislatures and replaced it with direct election by the people, a popular idea at the time, was a serious blow to federalism. But it had serious unforeseen consequences which have come back to bite us in the present era. It laudably weakened the power of the segregationist Jim Crow South, but it transformed the Senate into a body very like the House of Representatives, which as the Founders feared, is too responsive to the immediate passions of the general population. The Founders saw the indirect election of Senators as an essential element of checks and balances within the Federal Government, ensuring the relative sovereigty of the individual states. The 17th Amendment greatly enhanced the power of the central government to regulate and legislate human interactions and policies, removing that prerogative from a more local and responsive state level. It regrettably contributed to the growth of the massive administrative state in Washington, DC that so many Americans are now increasingly fed up with. 🐻🇺🇲
The U.S. needs to support willing subnational administrative entities in developing countries to achieve independence, and assist them with shoring up their borders, customs agencies, legal frameworks, and monetary systems. By expanding the American model of governance and economy to these regions, the U.S. could stem the outflow of banana republic economic refugees, while addressing labor shortages in manufacturing industries without further damaging and disrupting the U.S. itself.

True. At best, he's just an actor playing a role. He had the chance to negotiate a peace with Putin, but pulled out because of pressure from the US. That makes him a puppet. At worse, I have a sneaking suspicion that he's skimming off hundreds of millions from the money flowing in. Within five years, he'll be living in the US and have a $billion stashed away and no one will be able to explain where it came from....and no one will want to find out.

@@Mumtaz-ks8cs I never once supported Ukraine or believed Zelensky was anything but a greedy puppet. If China or Russia tried to bring Mexico into a military alliance, (and bring in nukes) would the US stand by and do nothing? This is all insanity.
The USA is toast. There is no way back anymore. Neither the UK or the USA is Christian anymore and both regimes are total garbage.
Yes. All that’s needed to save the west is Christianity. The vacuum of meaning is more strong here in Australia, where Christianity is weaker.
We definitely need more patriotism and service to this great nation.
if any immigrants are going to save America, it's the Asians. always has been. The west was won by the Chinese laborers

Country as fxxx from Wisconsin. Patriots only allowed in my inner circle.

There are those now experimenting with one of the major weapons of this scenario, that is the so-called psychotronic group of devices which are being experimentally used to cause such alterations in wind and weather as will result in eventual famine.

This man, VDH, has provided education to me that matters. Thank you both for bringing this to the public.
Pitt is an impressive young thinker and he is really generous to give Victor so much time to interview him on his views ;)
I was thinking rather, just a ginger tosser😂
Thanks for having this true American on your show. I can’t get enough of Victor. I’ve liked and subscribed I’m sure your show will blow up after this interview if it hasn’t already.

@gmw3083 ...how many honorably discharged homeless vets do you know?
@@jacobzindel987 I avoid the population. This is my window into the menagerie. It's definitely a skewed view, but I'm well aware of this.
I firmly disagree with the young man about the Constitution , The Bill of Rights, and The Declaration of Independence. Not only vital, but solid rocks to stand on.
Absolutely mesmerizing conversation
Victor is correct. Without knowing the founding documents and other laws/documents, there is nothing to base that feeling of belonging too. The dyeing citizen was an awesome book to explain just that.
Been listening to VHD for years..he is utterly spot on…
Except for skipping over the part where all the young white muricans died for nothing but the enrichment of their ownership group
Why does he skip over the fact that those wh boys were offered up for the enrichment of their ownership group.
My wife and 4 American children are still stranded in the Philippines running on 4 years now, because it's taken 4 years for the Visa process to bring her here. My baby girl was 1.5 years old when I left to come back to Colorado for medical issues. Baby girl is turning 5 years old on her next birthday in Oct. I have 2 boys and 2 girls who are Americans and one of my boys is a special needs child. This is how the immigration procces works for the mother of 4 children with American citizenship.
Immigration is a great business in us
That's disgusting. I'm so sorry to hear that.
Stay in the Philippines just because you have a piece of paper doesn’t make them American citizens. You people use the USA like a trash heap
Its apparent to many in the west that theres no incentives to be hard working and law abiding in the west. We see the same in Europe illegals piggy backing over those that do things legally. People smuggling is more profitable than drug smuggling that's how perverse this whole thing is becoming. I'm in the UK how can a poor Eritrean who has trudged through so many countries suddenly find 3k to give to people smugglers to get in unseaworthy boats make zero sense to many
My son was in the US Navy when he met and married his Filipina wife.

I don't live in America , but follow the news on a daily basis. One of the most informative programs I've seen in a long time. Biden was/is a total disaster and given the chance he will destroy that whole country. Trump on the other hand is much too outspoken and often disrespectful. However , if it's a choice between Trump and Biden/Harris , I really think Trump will be a better choice....
You shouldn’t consider your feelings and emotions so much in matters of national security.
VDH is wonderful. Highly enjoyed this discussion and the host understands the true plight we're facing as Americans and Englishmen (broadly speaking). Subscribed about halfway through this episode. Keep it up, don't slow down and never pacify.
He lied the whole time
@@jordanwhisson5407You’re the liar.
We must fight to save our country. Peacefully of course.
What a great conversation. Won't even call it an interview. Well done. Glad i stumbled here. TY Gentlemen
I love VDH, he's #2 all time on my list. BUT DID HE SERIOUSLY CALL ZELENSKY A BRAVE WONDERFUL MAN? SORRY, THAT'S BS
I agree
VDH is a good resource to understand US politics and past military conflicts. His expertise ends there.
Yes, that made me jump! We do NOT all agree on Ukraine!
I think the same
VDH always teaches me something new. He doesn't make up history, like the progressives do. Rather, he uses his in debth knowledge of his specialty in history to show what has worked and hasn't worked. That's what we citizens need to understand when we're voting for our current political candidates, as well as living our lives in a way that makes our country better.

A nice susprise I. always enjoy hearing you speak Victor Davis Hanson. And I am pleased to have met you Harrison Pitt. Thank you for sharing
Doesn't Harrison Pitt have any awareness of the Lobby, AIPAC, and the Oligarchical donor billionaire class having a stranglehold on the Congress and on the Presidential candidates?
In other words , your implying politicians of either party are bought and sold for the tangible benefit of the assorted donor classes . Basically , prostitutes in suits and ties . Got it . 🤫
Brilliant exchange. Makes such a difference being privy to an illuminating discourse when, sagacious insight meets well read & intelligent inquiry. Victor & Harrison self evidently, enjoyed the mutualy uplifting & erudite, exchange. Thank you, both.
The host country , to maintain its patrimony and values, must ensure that these aspirations are equally shared by new immigrants.
Marvellous, thanks again Victor!

By expanding the American model of governance and economy to these regions, the U.S. could stem the outflow of banana republic economic refugees, while addressing labor shortages in manufacturing industries without further damaging and disrupting the U.S. itself.

Trump would have won Michigan in 2020 if it weren't for the after midnight vote dump of 120,000 votes -- which in a small town kitchen I watched happen on a computer screen when it happened.
I and several thousand others watched it happen in front of us, with no attempt to feather in the new votes the following morning when the counting was to be resumed.

Wow! I never thought you would say such nice things about that worm Zelinski!
That's why VDH is still invited to comment on legacy media shows.

It's all pretty obvious if you've followed what's happed since 2014 with the overthrow of Ukraine's government by Victoria 'fuck the EU' Nuland and the aggressive policy of the US/NATO against Russia since the 90s.
