  • This is my Cub Cadet 1200 I picked up a year ago. After cleaning out the fuel tank And a good carb cleaning along with a few new fuel lines it fired right up. The 1200 was the only 3 speed cast iron gear drive quiet line model made. The 1200 has a cast iron single cyinder 12HP K301 engine.

My father in law picked up a 1000 with creeper drive, spring assist and rear lift in April. Replaced the clutch is all he did and it's a nice unit.

The clutches were a wear item on Cub gear drives. Pretty easy to replace. The creeper drives are a nice option. I wish I would have had one on my 108 when I had the snowblower.

Pretty nice sounding 1200 along with being well equipped. I'd throw a rear lift at it too along with one of your rear work lights and Brinley hitch. Maybe even one of those Extreme tool boxes to hold those extra pins and plow wrenches?
    Just a thought...... Lol
You did say you wanted to play with it some and that 582's gonna need a rest sometime. 😴

I may have to put a rear work light on it when I wire up the headlights. A rear lift would be a nice option as well. I may have to look around for one of them.

Would this be a good tractor for hauling around fire wood? I’ve found one locally for $800 and seems to be in good condition.

It would be a good fire wood hauler. I think $800.00 is on the high end. Make sure the engine mounts are good. I would say 400 to 500 on condition.

Found one for $700 with a snow plow and mower deck. Everything works and it runs and drives good. Is it worth it?

If it has a creeper drive I would say yes. It all depends on location. Blades ate around $100.00 I would say 500 to 600 unless it was teally nice. Creepers and rear pto add money to value.

Can you still buy parts for these things just got one from my grandpa he didn’t want to fool with it

CaseIH dealers still sell some parts, But they are not cheap. Your best bet is to go to tractor shows, Facebook groups, or a garden tractor Salvage yard. I did some videos on a garden tractor salvage yard in Ohio. Its called Adams Small Engine in Greenwich Ohio. He has lots of old Cub parts that you can pull yourself for a really decent price. He will pull and ship parts as well, But that costs a little more money.
