I played Sabrina as a one of at first and then swapped it out, even though it did help me against Lapras EX, but that game was a very niche case, and later I realized the Sabrina wasn't doing much and put in the X Speed instead!
This deck is so sick but I felt the same way. I'm only ever using Sabrina to stall cause it's not reliable to gust up if you need more than 40. X speed is always helpful and isn't restrictive to one a turn so at worst you'll need it later like sabrina and at best it saves an attach.
There is a lot of talk about Misty being nerfed at some point. I mean…we can hope, right?!? Limit the energy you get, as well as the distribution of it.
Been playing with a similar deck since last thursday with 1 sabrina and i would not swap her out. It's a tec card, but when the match goes too long it has fiven me the win amazingly. I don't go normal exegg as the deck is quick as it is and the weakness of it is in later stages of a match.
Massive props to you and your videos. I already feel like most of the decks in PvP are mostly the same. Your decks have helped keep things fun and interesting. Your Mankey and Marowak deck has been my bread and butter. Keep up the good work!
I tried butterfree with everything. It's 100% best played with Exegg. I came up with venusaur/butterfree that work better than the standard "2 copies of every mon" approach, but Exegg/Butterfree is still better
Greninja is the most flexible card of the collection that is not a tank. You can combine it with many things. It is very good all the time? No. That's why it is not top tier.
Hear me out, Butterfree with Lapras EX+Misty. Set deck to water energy only. Butterfree doesn’t need plant energy to use its heal. It’s hilariously good. And no coin flips for 80 damage.
Venemoth is pretty fun. 1 energy for what ends up being 50 damage a turn. Setting up the poison condition super early. Pivots really easily thanks to its 1 cost retreat....

i have to say, while i'm personally not a fan of playing pocket, I really enjoy watching your videos because you have a really engaging energy. From your intros to the match showcases, you make it quite a fun game to watch and it's easy to tell this is something you're very passionate about.
Back in the day when I played Pokemon TGC, I was infamous for my insect deck. My star pokemon Venomoth. 2 grass energies Venomoth dealt 20 damage and made opponent's active pokemon poisoned and confused, while Venonate (basic pokemon) (also with 2 grass energies) could deal 10 damage and put them asleep. Then my Rocket's Scyther would come out and using 1 grass energy activated a "double-team skill." This skill will remain active until the opponent manages to successfully flip a coin and hav it land on heads and with the added confusion (from Venomoth) requiring them to get 2 heads in a row. The pressure this combo dealt was really intense due to confusion's effect, making them take 30 damage when trying to attack and/or retreat, which lasts until the pokemon is no longer the active pokemon while also taking poison damage each turn.
Miguel! I haven't been watching the videos lately because I'm not hyped to Pokemon Pocket yet, but I'm so happy to see the numbers going up and that you seem really happy and having fun with it. Been a fan since 2020, always rooting for you. You're my favorite content creator, keep up the amazing work you've been doing and hope you get even more success!
Damn, every card game I try since Duelyst, you're here makin decks! I love it. Of the 3 or 4 decks I've played with since starting Pocket, this one has been most fun and has gotten me some nutty wins. Hilariously enough, I've absolutely destroyed every Mewtwo EX deck I've ran into (around 5, so far).
If you're looking for an evolution, such as Exacutor, you want to pokeball first, not second. As pokeball first removes a basic that proffessor could pull.
The best thing I’ve noticed about this game is that all of these decks are very viable. At the end of the day everything does blow down to a little bit of luck. But it’s really cool to see the number of decks that have been made.
I do really enjoy this deck. Ever since I pulled exeggutor ex in the first day or 2, I loved the hp and 1 energy cost attack that could hit hard. Been my favorite card since I couldn’t get lucky with any other cards for meta decks and with butter free being such a perfect partner for the deck it’s easily my favorite. I don’t need or want meta decks with all the fun I’m having with grass decks. Team Erika all day
This is good, but hear me out. Pidgeotto has the ability to swap the other player's pokemon at will. Meaning mixed damaged on the front and back. Forcing the player to think about energy as a method to get the right pokemon up front. This slows down and big pokemon building they can do. Pair that with something that attacks the backline.... like dragonite with its tossing of 50 damage all over the place. I've been testing this but I haven't quite figured out how to make the tempo right for the deck. But in a few cases, this little combo has worked wonders either by forcing their big pokemon to the backline while slinging damage at their smalls. Multiple times I've won via killing 3 benched pokemon. It leaves the player stuck between using their energy to finesse flipping the front line pokemon safely, or sacrificing pokemon in hopes to build up their winning mon. The biggest issue this deck has is both of these pokemon are slow to get up. Would loveeeeee to hear your take and what changes you'd make to see if this deck could work.
"This is just Lapras and Articuno and a bunch of trainer cards, they're so lazy" as much as I despise Misty decks, I have to admit that your deck is also "just" exeggutor and butterfree and a bunch of trainer cards...
A card I want to see used would be Persian. Meowth adds a card to your hand and Persian can discard from your opponent’s hand if you win a coin flip. I don’t know how good it would be against decks like Pikachu EX because it’s designed to get basics out fast, but against decks like this one taking out a Metapod or Butterfree could be very disruptive. Eradicating a Gardevoir, Koga, or Wheezing in a Mewtwo EX or Koga Wall could potentially end the game. Any deck that relies on Stage 1 or 2 Pokémon would be under threat. They also couldn’t play around Sabrina if you could just Red Card them or make their Pokémon disappear with Persian if it’s not on the field. It’s difficult to use because of the coin flip to discard at random but as a gimmick I think you might be able to make it work in a stall deck since your opponent would building up their hand over time (maybe something like Melmetal since it uses Mawile and another line, I’ve seen Fearow, Greninja, and Hypno). Skip the other player’s field and attack your opponent’s hand/mental health directly. Also, I did test it out in solo and a Pidgey was taken from the AI’s hand and put on top of the discard pile.
@@josepholmos1402 Good idea! If this is becoming a coin flip deck we can also add Kangaskahn. 2x Meowth 2x Persian 2x Kangaskahn 2x Aerodactyl 2x Old Amber 2x Red Card 2x Poké Ball 2x Professor's Research 2x X Speed 1x Giovanni 1x Sabrina This is the best I can come up with. Giovanni boosts Persian to 2 hit 90s and let's Kangaskahn take down 70s if it has good luck (also because it's a Persian meme deck). They're too low HP for Potions since EX cards can one shot them so X Speeds to swap out easily are better.
I apprecate the frostmoth player. just started playing like 3 days ago and I've already finished all the challenges in solo (not the lapras event obviously). I had to make a deck for just typings such as water for the expert stuff and frostmoth carried my win against the electric stuff. It's weak to steel first off so you get an advantage there, but also I got the Zapdos to sleep, swapped in golduck for a 70 damage kill and let it die so frostmoth would stay healthy from that 90 damage pikachu, and then I got multiple sleeps in a row for an easy wipe. It felt so good! That being said fire deck into water was the hardest. I kept replaying and got so lucky on like the 40th or 50th reset, just as I was gonna take a break. The deck literally has arcanine ex but no growlith to hit the fire only quota XD but I managed somehow to delay the opponent with their bad luck and decision making, and my two rapidashes JUST long enough to get 4 cards on the singular centiscorch (and single sizzlipede) and 1 shot ex starmie. They also had an ex articuno in the back at 10 health that they weren't giving any energy, and then they sent in greninja and it had no energy (they were buffing starmie). I got it with rapidash before it could kill me, healed my heatmor that greninja damaged for safety, and starmie wiped till centiscorch's explosion. I got waaaay too lucky there for having a terrible selection of fire types. Opens 3 more charizard decks and only gets rapidash ponyta... dude I can't add those!
I created a similar deck, but with Lapras ex instead of Exeguttor. Caterpie and Metapod have both only colorless energy requirement so up to Butterfree they work with just blue energy. When they evolve to Butterfree they stay in the backline mostly anyway or go to the front to tank one hit (2 with Erika) while all the energy goes to Lapras. Butterfree and Lapras also happen to be easly obtainable by current in-game event
i just love that you are enjoying the game and playing uncommon decks and honestly they are so good too! i have deck req if you can pls play whole ganger ex and pedgiot line , pokeball2x, professor2x, sabrina2x, x speed 2x and giovanni 1x potion1x ik you dont like to play two stage 2..but they are both 2 and 3 energy pokemon with good enough damage and in my games i was able to atleast get one line online for damage every game and won 80% on my climb in the event against top decks and ofc with their passives you have just so much control over opporents its quite ez after you get one line inline(you might need to sacrifice one pokemon or two if you are really unlucky but still you get good results after getting them online) also ganger ex has really high hp and 100 damage ..which survives most decks pretty good keep up the interesting content !
I keep one less energy then I need to attack on my bench so I can spread it to keep my opinions open, during a retreat or knockout you can add the one energy and attack or use what to saved to retreat if you pull a better card. This will basically give you a free energy.
Question for people who stream mobile. Is this actually being streamed on mobile and the computer cursor is streams way of showing where his finger is or has he somehow managed to stream this on computer? He is looking pretty far down so I am guessing former but was curious about the cursor and if that is normal.
I have to imagine it would pair well with the recently released Celebi EX, since Celebi doesn't need any pieces to be found like Exeggutor, and only needs 2 energy to start attacking, though it doesn't really have the same damage ceiling as Exeggutor EX until it has 3 energy. This would leave room for another x speed and any other two cards of your choosing, maybe another 2 basics or Sabrina x2.
40:48 someone asked why not prof? Because you would've need either a potion, or a Butterfree. Your chances of picking either of those cards with a prof out of 6 cards was only 33.3%, but your chances of surviving momentarily and not getting double head rolled? 75% survival rate. You made the right call. Butterfree incoming or not, if you know odds like that, that should increase someone's odds of lasting longer in battles.
Been watching you since LOR glad to see you're on Pokémon tcgp. I've been racking my brain on a consistent ninetails deck if you can think of something and make a vid on it that'll be cool
I've been trying Butterfree with Liligant, with the gameplan being Liligant giving you energy for infinite switches, and you just switch pokemons for days while using your Butters to keep everyone healthy
Hey Mega! I remember watching you during the early Magic Online days glad to find you again! It be kool to see you run a pidgeot/starmie deck or cheesy charizard deck with 1 charmander and 1 moltrese, 2 evo lines and fossils!
Honestly the new video format caught me off guard and I didn't think I liked it, but I've really grown to appreciate these 'to the point' intros with a little bit of flair. Good job Mog and editorchan!
I've been thinking about a greninja bruxish deck, greninja popping the ability 20 damage in the backline to enable bruxish's skill, can't seem to find the filler for the rest of the deck to make this happen though.
Double greninja line, double Brux, Double or single A1, double misty, one or two tanks: Lapras EX (or snorlax, chansey, Tauros or Chansey.), prof Research, Sabrina and then fill the rest with any item, preferably x speed for better pivots and to counter Sabrina.
You already basically built the deck, most decks only run 8-10 Pokemon. The rest is the support core of X-Speed, Professor, Sabrina, Typed Trainer (Misty, in this case), Poke Ball, Fossils, Red Card, Potions, Giovanni. The issue is figuring out the ratios and seeing what ones you want/don't want.
Oh man, when Mogwai left LoR I was so sad. I never expected to be playing the same again. Mogwai old friend, how I’ve missed your content and deck-building skills!
I've been using butterfree with Arcanine EX and a single Moltres EX to make up for 1. The damage Moltres takes setting up Arcanine and 2. The damage Arcanine does to itself. Been some of the most fun I've had playing the game.
This has been my deck pretty much from.the start. I use bellsprout instead, the max ev let's you choose who to attack o. Your opponents bench or active so you can go for those weak ones that have been retreated too.
Honestly, ive been running butterfree and Venusaur EX pretty well from the start, I just never put butterfree in my active. Butterfree just sits on the bench and spams the whole time while I only attack with lilligant and venusaur, and occasionally butterfree takes a necessary hit or two to switch into my charged up venusaur.
I love how blane, surge and brock all require specific pokemon, and misty hass mons that she can be required to like seaking, normal starmie and gyrados but they had to make her op. At least to balance it out i feel like her first coinflip is like only a 5% for heads from what ive seen bot using and against it
13:40 Wrong. To enhance your chance to get Exeggutor, you need to first pokeball and then PR. Pokeball will guaranteed remove one basic pokemon and increase your chance to get a non basic with the PR. Let me know if you want the detailed maths on it.
I played Sabrina as a one of at first and then swapped it out, even though it did help me against Lapras EX, but that game was a very niche case, and later I realized the Sabrina wasn't doing much and put in the X Speed instead!

Been watching you since LOR glad to see you're on Pokémon tcgp. I've been racking my brain on a consistent ninetails deck if you can think of something and make a vid on it that'll be cool
Heya mogwai,
I'm trying to figure out how to make a poison deck work but can't seem to crack it. Love to see your take
I've been trying Butterfree with Liligant, with the gameplan being Liligant giving you energy for infinite switches, and you just switch pokemons for days while using your Butters to keep everyone healthy
Was thinking on how to make a Persian, Poliwhirl, and pure Brock/Giovani card themed decks still workshopping them.
Ever run into MoltresEX CharizardEX decks? That stuff is so aggravating to go against.
BUTTERFREE MAKES THEM QUIT! | Pokemon TCG Pocket
Has there not been a Greninja deck yet?
The issue is figuring out the ratios and seeing what ones you want/don't want.
damn both butterfree and venusaur are stage 2 evolutions? that's pog 0:30
Do you have a Mew secret card?
even the losses are entertaining 😂
Does it still get stomped by mewtwo or?
This is one of the first decks i built! I recommend Kangaskhan in place of the non-EX Exeggutor.
Would you be able to do one involving Arbok (or any Poison/chip-focused set)? 🙏🏻 I’d love that
Happy that you're having success with pocket.
Oh man, when Mogwai left LoR I was so sad. I never expected to be playing the same again. Mogwai old friend, how I’ve missed your content and deck-building skills!
Thank you for this deck highlight. I was looking for a good Butterfree partner and I believe you got the ratio on trainers right too 🙏🏼
I've been using butterfree with Arcanine EX and a single Moltres EX to make up for 1. The damage Moltres takes setting up Arcanine and 2. The damage Arcanine does to itself. Been some of the most fun I've had playing the game.
Looks like such a troll deck, love it! gonna try it out today
What program do you use to play on PC?
I have been playing Butterfree Poliwrath as well and it is SO FUN. Just put in a bunch of potions and erika cards - so fun!
bro can't stop sniffing his finger
Mogwai: Playing Lapras Articuno is such lazy deck building.
Me a F2P player getting 2 Articuno Ex and barely making a deck to grind the event: :(
I have a full heal venusaur and exegutor deck. thinking of addin 1 of each butterfree as a side.
This deck has been incredible thanks Mog
Hear me out, Persian + Aerodactyl, you make their Pokémon’s go back to hand and discard them with Persian, can add Hypnos for stalling too
Nice! I've been waiting for a Butterfree deck.
Kingler Deck when?
Why waste putting energy on butterfree? Butterfree just sits on my bench the entire time. So no need to worry about stealing energy from Venusaur EX
This has been my deck pretty much from.the start. I use bellsprout instead, the max ev let's you choose who to attack o. Your opponents bench or active so you can go for those weak ones that have been retreated too.
what can you do with a blastoise?
Isnt the minimum health needed to survive 160 due to mewtwo?
Can we get some eevee decks?
Caterpie being able to search stage 2 or 3s is pretty broken in a time where there’s no searchers
can i use regular eggexutor?
Having an instant first round death in the first match with the "immortal deck" is the funniest thing that could possibly happen sorry
What was blurred out at 15:20
I was messing with starmie and heliolisk aggro. Heliolisk doesn't need electric energy and it was super fun, would love to see your take
Honestly, ive been running butterfree and Venusaur EX pretty well from the start, I just never put butterfree in my active.
At least to balance it out i feel like her first coinflip is like only a 5% for heads from what ive seen bot using and against it
Love your unique decks Mogwai!
How can you play it on pc?
can make blastoise non ex work?
13:40 Wrong. To enhance your chance to get Exeggutor, you need to first pokeball and then PR. Pokeball will guaranteed remove one basic pokemon and increase your chance to get a non basic with the PR. Let me know if you want the detailed maths on it.
Dont feel bad about the 1st match, we've all been there
