I think a great card to counter Giovanni and mewtwos a bit would be a supporter that let you take 10+ less damage the turn after playing it. Maybe when the Johto set drops “Jasmine” could have an effect like that for steel types

I feel like Greninja Plus Melmetal is actually amazing, you can beat almost any card, Greninja snipes the pokemon that escape melmetal and It has given me actually amazing results even agains meta.
The randomness of what energy to get for dual types is just so inconsistent. They should make both energies available but you can only pick one per turn.
It’s crazy how often you get the same energy every turn. It’s weird because when you read how it’s worded in the game, it sounds like it’s supposed to generate a random energy of a different type
An Item card Metal Coat could be added to the game that gives a steel mon 40 bonus hp that could sort of function as a shield, or could simply prevent damage from one hit
I like Melmetal, the best deck I've seen with him is with fearow and mawile, it's the only way you might be able to get online faster than your opponent
I don’t think people are really sleeping on melmetal, I think it’s just people have realized there isn’t much supporting metal decks, honestly let alone most decks besides the same cards. I can’t wait til we get more cards so we can actually have a variety of cards in decks and not the same Giovanni, Sabrina etc
I've been running Melmetal-Kangaskhan (14 support cards) and so far its gone 21-3. I lead with Kangaskhan, 1 energy attack and 100hp, soak up as many hits with it as I can and go into my 2nd Kangaskhan with the same strategy while I set my Melmetals up. Then once both Kangaskhans are down I swap in Melmetals and clean house, swapping between them both when needed and saving all Potions, X-speeds and Sabrinas for this phase. Sounds goofy but it's working incredibly well for me so far.
I firmly believe that Greninja is the best partner for Melmetal. Can one shot everything in the Pika and Starmie decks, and also Mewtwo with Gio. Still not meta relevant, but getting to one shot a Mewtwo is always a nice feeling. Lol
I'm sorry, but I'm not sure what the question is. If you're asking how you can one shot Starmie and Pikachu decks, Melmetal does 120 + 20 from Greninja's ability. So a total of 140 damage, which is enough to one shot anything in those decks. If you have a Giovanni in hand, then you can hit Mewtwo for 150. Hope this helps.

My latest fav deck that I just made up for fun was a 1 basic deck also. I use primape and kabutops. With low energy cost and using x speeds. No ne of pokeballs so you can use red card erika giovanni and its just so good most matches just ends if you get a primape in start.
My dude pls just pls try a Dugtrio Kabutops deck trust me. Dugtrio is sooo slept on, kabutop is op, everything just requires 1 energy, u couter pikachu decks and u get to be annoying 😂 no ex tho Just got the 45 wins with it😅🎉
@@cmromer2392 just giovanni, sabrina, professors research, pokeball, potion, dugtrio line and kabutops line. The goal is to use dugtrio to force sabrinas and u switching for free into kabutops. Then u have to be smart with ur swiches and trainer cards. Since everything only costs one and dugtrio gets Sabrinaed anyway x speed is not needed. I tryed adding other pkmn but it would just get in the way. Only thing that also worked is using pokedex instead of giovanni and doing the "pokedex tech" i think is what they are calling it now.

played a lot of this game only to find it completely lacks any depth or creativity. Try as you might to build something new it’ll still be inferior to the Pikachu and Mewtwo decks being played by 50% of users. Just a gotcha cash grab unfortunately.

Its a balance thing, give the opponent more chances to KO it since it takes less dmg

Melmetal not having 140 HP is weird, still dies to double 90 hit, 150 hit of mewtwo, and it doesnt seem to do anything significant

That’s a good idea too! So butterfree for heals and long games and greninja for aggressive and quick games, they’re basically the opposite
Also Frogadier can provide some early pressure on fire decks that would counter Melmetal

That’s why you run only metal energy. You can change it in the deck edit so you don’t get grass energy.

This is basically how the Dragonite deck works, you put a punching ball on front while you try to get to 4 energies on your finisher before you die!

gren lapras ex does this in reverse! lapras heals itself and gren does the damage!
