This is the future I want.
That enourmous screen fits so well into the dash; it doesnt look tacked on as an after thought nor does it make the dash look bulky at all. I love flat bottom and flat top steering wheels in general, and I have to say, as a small person, I feel like I FIT better in cars that have implemented looking over as opposed to thru the steering wheel. The controls on the steering wheel that show you what they do on the screen thats near your eyes is epic tbh. Maybe it's because I'm a gamer, but that feels SO natural to me. Altho as a gamer, I'm not sure I would ever use my car as a game system, but I guess that's cool too.
I despise having to control the airvents from an infotainment menu; let me just grab and move the vents please. But the moving vents seem like it would be a cool option, and in my own car where I could set it and forget it, maybe it wouldnt be too bad. And I think that applies to a lot of the info that these screens can give you; you're meant to choose your settings and then leave it, not be messing with it as you're driving down the road, so having to go into the infotainment menu to change whats on the big screen realistically probably isnt a problem.

The screens look cool and would be interesting to work with, while the vehicle is under warranty. However, if you are the second owner of this vehicle and the vehicle is then out of warranty, and one or both of those big screens decides to malfunction in some manner, be prepared to pay untold thousands for the part itself and the labor to diagnose and disassemble the dash to remove/replace the screens. The tech is fun while it works, but there is a huge financial risk involved if you are the owner when the vehicle is out of warranty. For those buyers who can buy it brand new, enjoy!

Did Lincoln and Ford actually make use of the 48" screens for BlueCruise notifications? Is there a pillar to pillar length light bar that shows up green, red, and orange to properly notify drivers of what the system is doing? If it doesn't, that is a huge missed opportunity with the 48" screen.
I prefer dedicated physical buttons for HVAC and seat climate controls. I also prefer manual air vent controls. The oscillating feature is definitely nice but for my body, I prefer either direct air flow or indirect air flow.
Forcing a passenger to go into the screen to adjust their climate or air vents isn't something I like. I know the HVAC and climate settings are always at the bottom but physical buttons are always easier and safer to maneuver without having to look at a screen as a driver. How do the screens do in direct sunlight?
I'm happy to see more screens and bigger screens. I'm also happy to see the dedicated shifter buttons instead of a stalk shifter (or worse, in-screen shifter like Tesla). A little disappointed they don't have air vents on the B pillar and only in the back of the center console.

I'm glad that most car companies figured that they can't make their system from the ground and need a good base so they switched to Google Automotive, if you have Android phone you don't need to use Android Auto anymore, all the apps and Google Assistant are available, your phone will be connected for just messaging and calls , I don't know if you login with your Google account you can carry from where you left off on TH-cam music/Spotify tho

Why? Just because they can make a giant silly screen? What will it cost to repair or replace after it stops working? This current industry trend of turning basic controls into distracting, unintuitive and inconvenient video games is a constant disappointment . Let's go back to basic & reliable knobs, buttons and mechanical gauges that we have used for more than half a century.

ew, no thanks. Euro NCAP announced that it's too distracting to be safe and that no car without enough physical controls can earn a 5-star rating

Alex, nice review of the Lincoln's IMAX theater screens. However, Lincoln's boomer buyer demographics is going to likely hate it. 😑

imagine the warranty work on these puppies lmao. let alone the insurance premium when the adjusters see this interior when you rear-end someone because you were scrolling some settings menu to find the next song you wanted lmao.

I love it. I’m a tech person. I want all the tech. This keeps the screen up close to the windshield. As long as the content on those screens isn’t capturing anyone’s attention for too long it seems fine to me.
This makes more sense than a street car with a sub 3 second 0-60 time.

@@keponen331 both. I’ve worked in tech for about 20 years. Software engineer in Silicon Valley.
I want ALL the (second or third generation) tech. If it seems great, let the bugs and kinks get worked out and the prices drop, then I’m all over it.
I’m also a car guy. So, I’m always excited about when car tech advances (or seems like it will).
I’m assuming dashboard length screens like this won’t become a thing. But, I like the idea of it. I think this is much better than a GIANT screen in the car extending down to roughly knee height like you see in a lot of modern designs.
This is more like … a cheaper version of a massive heads up display.
But, as cars get closer and closer to driving themselves (it’ll happen within our lifetime) things like this will matter less.

Half of that screen (passenger half) is totally useless. It's just for show. It's too far and too distracting for the driver to use. Passenger has no need for it anyways as they can't play any video while car is moving and they have 0 need to access car stats.

  • @MikeTarlton
    @MikeTarlton 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

Seems like a waste since the passenger can’t watch movies or play games since the driver is able to see the screen on that side. It’s only available in the center screen when the car is stopped.
