So sorry that you tested positive but glad that you only have mild symptoms! Have been teaching for 27 years….the only voice we have is within the walls of our own classroom sadly….
I have been teaching Kindergarten for quite awhile now and this new class of babies needs to be in school more than ever! I live in a very rural area and most of my kiddos have never been to school before. The ones that have were not in the classroom long enough or consistently enough to know what school is or how to get along with others. The reality is that I am teaching preschool right now. I will continue to give this class my all and bring them as far as I can but the reality is that it is unrealistic for us to put the pressure on them to be ready for first grade next year. It’s a mindset shift we ( as adults in this country) need to accept for the mental health of our children…..
This country needs to give all of our babies understanding and grace. I am tired of hearing from others about how behind they are. They are not the lowest class you’ve ever had or behind - they are inexperienced! Last year was ripped from them. Parents did they best they could trying to hold it all together. Our country needs to come together as a whole and understand that and stop pressuring them to “ get caught up”

My student tested positive last week, and I literally felt so down like it was my fault. And then I was angry..can't believe we're being put in this position to even be terrified in this way. I've gotten tested four times in the last week. I'm sick of this school year.

As,a teacher what are your feelings on students going back to virtual learning?? My son got real sick by day 7 of public school. I am now homeschooling myself and in the process of enrolling in k-12.. But I got no support from school no resources etc..and felt so disappointed ...this is scary and mind boggling how our country is risking teachers and students .
@@jennifergongora9727 My district is not prepared to go back. There is no backup plan besides...keep the kids in school even if someone gets sick. They haven't told us what to do if the whole class goes into quarantine, and what the expectations are. I'm taking it day by day. I had kids out on quarantine, and I literally provided no work at home. I had no idea what to do, just gave them their eureka homework book.

I was fully vaccinated but because my state has a law against mask mandates, I had 30% of my students test positive in the first 9 days. Despite wearing a mask myself, I had a breakthrough case and was out 3 full weeks because of symptoms. I am in week 5 and I am still not back to my full potential at work. I cannot express how angry I was to be home with the virus while the news showed parents protesting against the idea of even optional masks. Thank you for posting this, Kyle.
With so many positive cases .what is your opinion going back to virtual learning for safety of staff and students. My children THRIVED with virtual learning . After, day 7 my child was very sick .I am now homeschooling and enrolling with k-12.. I M JUST SHICKED, AND UPSET THAT WE HAVE NO SUPPORT SYSTEM FROM PUBLIC SCHOOL .but honestly feel better that my children r home . Yes,,I'm struggling but EVERYDAY THAT SENT THEM I JUST FELT LIKE NOT IF THEY GET SICK BUT WHEN ...I HOPE YOU GET BETTER AND JUST WANTED YOUR SINCERE OPINION ..

I’m a teacher myself and have a daughter and a son at school age and and lately I’m feeling so down and stressed I have to be my kids teacher too and feel sad that they are not fully experiencing the childhood they deserve. I end the day exhausted and depressed I hope to change my state of mind soon.. sorry just venting here
My children THRIVED IN VIRTUAL LEARNING. I PRAY FOR YOUR QUICK RECOVERY . DELTA IS NO JOKE !! As, a teacher I feel your need to be face to teaching kids ..BUT YOU SAID YOURSELF . THIS PANDEMIC NOT ENDING ...What is your sincere thoughts on kids going back to virtual esp that now many many cases are children .
I did so good last year not to get covid. This year started and 2 weeks in i got. Had a light case thank goodness and was able to return to work. So glax your doing good

Please be careful! COVID comes in waves, some days are almost fine and then you exert yourself even mildly (think cleaning the kitchen) and the next day it feels like you were hit by a truck. Try to minimize your activity so that energy can go towards healing (even if you already feel pretty good).
Please also consider setting up a morning check in with a local friend in case things go downhill you have someone who can check in on you.

Teacher here, I just got over it and almost 3/4 of my class had it. Masks and no masks got it and plexiglass dividers on the tables.
