Portuguese Bifana

- Today, join Natasha in making Portuguese Bifana; lovely, savoury pork cutlettes. Perfect between a portuguese bun or over rice!
Ingredients:
2-3 lbs pork cutlets
4-5 med. Onions
1 bell pepper
1 jar oven roasted peppers packed in oil
2 bay leaves
1 tsp cayenne pepper
1 tsp grd white pepper
2 tsp grd aniseed
2-3 tsp of minced garlic
½ cup of pepper and garlic paste (optional)*
1 cup of red wine
½ cup of water
Salt and pepper to taste
*Garlic and pepper paste can be found in any Portuguese store or any grocery store that has a Mediterranean/European section

How many lbs or cutlets did you use?
I used about a one and 1/2 pounds

No bayleaf?
I usually add bay leaf. I must not of had any that day😊

No salt
I do add salt. But husband can’t have salt. So I use it very sparingly. But you should use salt with love😊
Too thick, supposed to be very thin, and no peppers.
Hi. I have a childhood memory of eating them just like this at our Portuguese club. I’ve never forgotten them. They were so good. Sadly mine don’t taste exactly like those of my childhood, but they are close. Try them, the peppers add a little extra 😊 thank you for the comment!
