It's a bit like the Americans who love Biden, despite his racist comments and Harris, who outed Biden as a racist in the early stages of election campaigning... As long as they appease the SJW's they will remain untouchable. Ollie read out that statement with all the gusto and heartfelt sincerity of a hostage video where the captors hadn't allowed him to read the script beforehand, with the business end of an automatic rifle just off camera. Any apology read directly, and falteringly from a piece of paper means nothing and everybody knows it. Of course, he shouldn't have made it, and more to the point shouldn't have been forced to make it, but it's so obviously insincere and sycophantic, what value is there to it in anyone's eyes but those who want to force people to say things that they don't really feel or believe. This is the standard of public debate now, people being forced to make bland and hollow statements written by a PR firm just to keep their job, what have the great British traditions of debate and dialectic come to.

Absolutely outrageous treatment of a young sportsman. Where was the support from his team and the team captain? If we don't stop all this wokey-pokey stupidity, life will become unbearable in another couple of years. I'm 46 seconds in, watching a man make a scripted grovelling apology looking exactly like a frightened hostage. This is reminiscent of the sort of thing we've seen coming out of Saddam's Iraq, or North Korea. NEVER APOLOGISE - they just take it as a confession and will not forgive you. Pathetic seeing a man being publicly humiliated.

Murray's first response regarding the bashing of the crickteer's youthful indiscretion: "It was a 'retributive' gesture." Don't you just love Murray's speaking vocabulary? Of course, in the culture wars, the neo-Marxists would argue that a learned vocabulary is evidence of "white privilege," aided and abetted by "systemic racism." If Murray worked for the Coca-Cola Company, he would be enjoined to be "less white" and enrolled in "re-education classes" like a peasant caught reading The U.S. Declaration of Independence in China. As for Boris defending British tradition -- of course, he should. The failure of Western leaders to affirm and enforce our cultural standards of behavior and learning is what got us into this jolly quagmire in the first place. We simply need to elect officials with the "cajones" to do it.

Children predominantly use their amygdala (emotional) brain growing up but as they become adults, the frontal lobe cortex (rational, forward planning) comes more to the fore, and the whole brain is “scrambled” with risk taking at its strongest point. Not until around 25 years of age does the frontal lobe cortex dominate, and physiologically men are slower than females in development. In other words, what I’m saying is - give the guy a break.

I don't normally bother with cricket much, but I was so disgusted with the way he was humiliated on public TV that I've been thinking about the meanness of it ever since. Then to find out that he had been about to represent his country for the first time but was dropped despite the humiliation; and that the tweets had been made years ago when he had been a teenager, you have to wonder how many on the board get a very unhealthy kick out of inflicting pain on others for lapses they have actually spent time and effort uncovering. Perhaps the spotlight should move onto them next.
