really strong marker mainly because of the metal body... Montana bold ink or grog street killer ink works really well...the uni px30 is hands down one of the best chrome pre made markers.. used an awful lot in the uk.

7:20 With the flaring out of the nib, GR says that it makes it more mop-like and more juicy. The reason, I think, for that is because with the nib being more frayed, it allows it to spread out a bit more and hold onto a bit more paint or ink so that when you do write with it, the nib is more...charged if you will. So, if that explanation wasn't clear, that's what GR was describing I think

Interesting results. Honestly one of my favorite parts is mixing ink and trying new things and taking apart markers to create your own tools that work for you.

My go to marker big dogg..i refill with rusto silver roller paint mixed with a bit of goof off paint thinner (oil based compatible stuff) & a few drops of dot 3 break fluid..works great..much love from the Border Town Heroes.

I'm a wood artist (I hate saying that), maker and calligrapher, that used to be a graffiti artist way back in the 1980s. Right now, I have a need to make my own fine tip marker pen that fits into a 1/4" tube. Pretty sure that you have everything I need to know scattered in your videos, so thanks. Also, I will be trying out your shellac/ink recipe.

refills with Devastator ink, Grog, OTR Hard to Buff and Steve Garvey et al. Just been playing with cocktails. Great Marker. Channel locks absolutely work well, with a little heat sometimes.

My local graffshop sells UNI px-30 replacement nibs.
Edit: i bought 20 empty unis from china for dirt cheap and they sell nibs for cheap aswell
to get the top off I use electrical tape and tape around the top and its perfect for grip

I've been rocking and refilling the same UNI for years. That marker will last you forever if you treat her right.
How often do you change the nib?
@@user-oe3lo4rq8w I personally like a fresh chisel tip myself. But I have to change it like once a month if I'm useing it all the time. I've gone like 4 or 5 months without changing it before and the nib just flares out a lot.
What refill do you recommend?

It's definitely worth cleaning those threads on the bezel with something like rubbing alcohol before putting it back together if it's really gunked up. It'll make it way easier to come off next time, and after a load of refills, all that gunk can mean you end up with a shitty seal that ends up leaking over time

if you only have alcohol based inks put a few drops of acetone in your uni and they'll mix together

@@Yt-jc5sj think it'll be too dry to run, but since it's a uni might as well put xylene based stuff in there.
@@SNACHone too dry? my idea is to use some alcohol ink so I thought it "could" be pretty runny unless there is some weird chemical reaction. it's the mix of alcohol+xylene I'm worried about and I don't know how the adding of acetone will interact with this
@@Yt-jc5sj alcohol and xylene are miscible but if you add a few drops of acetone it’ll help mix fully

you can fill unis with generic walmart silver markers - the paint really doesnt look too much different. two cheapo markers + a brand new uni = a totally full silver uni.
or fill em with silver rusto after letting it degas, been working fine in my px30 for a while
I copped every color the PX-30 comes in a little while ago, quite tempted to play with some mixing but I don't want to mess with it's natural beauty... Decisions decisions
@slik_one_ I'm thinking of trying the MTN Liquid metallic paint
Blue & yellow goes well together to make a nice sea green. Play around with the amount of yellow you add. Also, the red & black is interesting.
@slik_one_ I’m not certain but I’m pretty sure the Px30 can handle the solvents used in the Mtn silver because the Px30 paint has xylene and that eats markers too

marsh t-grade xylene-based inks, white and black are best
Deco Premium Silver markers at Walmart have essentially the same formula as the Uni silver and is even close to mirror. I have like 6 on my bench
I have a Coversall 15mm marker and when I did this the valve just popped off and splatted ink everywhere 🙄
my marker I took a new unused but has a much weaker pale color than the others I have. the video on yt tt is a gold marker you know how to. fix it

Flared nibs r cool but the thing is Id rather get me a 2oz if imma flare the nib,it’ll be the same size,the mop will make less noise when shaken,and the cap on the mop won’t give me trouble the uni cap will.but I guess if it’s orgasmic to some to just know that the nib on their UNI is flared and that’s all they need to know then sure knock urself out

Yeah it will mix, BUT the MTN Liquid matalic paint works the best! The paint is almost the same.
Only thing that sucks is MTN liquid is hard to get your hands on, usually sold out lol

Anything with Xylene as a solvent in it, DONT PUT IT IN A PLASTIC MARKER! Messed up so many DIY mops like that 😭 also like a gun constantly clean ur Uni’s or else the cap gets stuck bad haha. Great vid GR!
Not fully true actually, you just have to know what plastic type you are using… you can use xylene based shit in PTFE without any issue and HDPE with fair compatibility, which would last longer much than the time it would take to empty it
Also if the cap starts getting stuck just use a quarter or nickel to pop it off with ease

I moved to Denver about a year ago, thinking I had quit doing graffiti, seeing dope tags and throws all over the place re-lit that graff urge. Been doing my own thing for about 6 months now, not too much 12 , so far seems chill, trying to find homies has been a lil difficult tho.

I normally put chrome Burner paint in the uni once it’s ran dry, just bust a can open into a Tupperware box once it’s gotten clogged and leave it to sit for a day or two, then you’ve got the almost exact same paint in the marker as before

Highly recommend MTN liquid silver but soultip and grog silvers also work well!

@@KalakismPHL Black paints and inks are even easier since it’s hard for even the worst companies to mess that up lol but otr hard to buff ink and marsh ink are great along with most black paints so it’s not too runny and stain urself while tagging
@@KalakismPHL if you're in Hong Kong, Jetshit Paint is near you in Taiwan. Their paints & inks are insane, best chrome outside of Uni & Krink I've ever seen.

@@incognitoazzmobsta hey there just to give you an update: I ended up making a mix with what was left of the red paint inside. I added OTR inkredible red ink+ ball pen fluid (red) and even some GROG jellyfish fuchsia. Those are all alcohol based and it seems they all mixed pretty well. I took it for a run yesterday and worked good

-inkredible ink
-ball pen fluid (the concentrate)
-grog full metal paint (fushia)
(+ what was left of the original unipaint ink)
it mixed beautifully and made a deeper brighter "fire truck" red. The ball pen fluid is a very deep dark red so jellyfish fuschia was to balance this

But I don’t see the point of this mix, uni paint isn’t good enough for anything that I do, shit just peels right off
