Great presentation, as auto locksmith need to sell house for buy every marke dealer level software with subscriptions, no problem drive and service all country to pay it back:) Plus abrites car prog, uhds smok:) .. Alternative option as You said, cloning ECU may be good when the ECU hardware gone (BDM) but when software is corrupted is gone clone this to the doner ECU. I seen that many times, last one was dcm 3.5 on PSA vehicle ...
It's not about security or integrity. We all know it's about fleecing customers by making them buy new modules from the dealer. What happened to all the eco stuff and reusability 🤷 Modules nowadays are less reliable than they used to be. Some say there are time or mileage counters ready to make modules fail. PSA and GM are prime suspects. Luckily most modules are cloneable with the right equipment.
I'd like to add. If you program a bcm on a buick Verano the autel j2534 from autel will not do immo programming. You gotta use a gm mdi2 or a clone unit works. If you just try to program 2 new keys will autel scanner it will not work ither the security light will stay on. Immo has to be initialized on tds first. Now the newer autel j2534 might work but the original jvci that came the original im608 will fail when trying to do anything immo related on buick Verano for sure. I noticed you was able to do imio function I wonder if you used the newer jvci+ . Also I was able to use a used ecm even tho it was gm global a but not a used bcm. A freind used io terminal to virgin the bcm first. Are you can use io terminal if you have it to do the whole job by cloning bcm. You can manually input the vin and override without the original ecm. But you gotta know how to work sps. Its harder but posibile.
