Libby has a setting where you can borrow for 21 days. Just click where it says 14 and you can select 7 days or 21 days. For the chunky books this is a must!

This depends on your library along w/the number of holds and loans you’re allowed. I can only borrow an ebook for 14 days. I keep my kindle on airplane mode b/c it saves battery but you won’t lose the book after the loan is up until you connect to wifi. 😁

In Australia we still live in the age of the dinosaurs. I own a kindle and do use it but our libraries here do not connect with kindles. One day hopefully this will change and my kindle reading will outweigh my physical books.

Welcome to Kindle club, got my first one about 6 years ago, now on a Kindle Oasis which is fantastic. One word of warning, there are so many super cheap deals at 99p (in UK anyway), which are very hard to resist....I have now accumulated around 300 unread items over the last few years. I'll get to them eventually :) Happy reading.

Happy e-reading! My kindle was one of the best purchases of my life for me. I discovered some of my favourite books and authors through my kindle, which I either wouldn't have been able to access in printed format (in some cases that doesn't even exist) or I wouldn't have been willing to spend the price of a printed copy on.

There’s nothing like the first kindle! Welcome to another world! While I love my physical books both is definitely the way to go. It’s so light, travelling with a library is just wild. As a child I would lug an extra little minisuitcase just for books 😁 Also projectgutenberg. Any classic you could ever wish for just free. And even if you buy classics they are cheap too.

Just got the bookmarks--thank you so much for restocking!🧡On another note, you can usually change your loan time on Libby (from 14 to 21 days), as explained on this Libby help page. "Changing your loan period: You can change your loan period for each title when you borrow or renew it. Loan periods vary by library and by format. After you borrow or renew a title, tap the loan period on the confirmation screen. Then, select a new loan period for that title. When you pick a new loan period, it'll be your default loan period for future checkouts in that format at that library."📖

I succumbed to getting a Kindle for reading in bed, as my hands are rather gnarly these days so easier to hold. Otherwise a physical book person until the day I die. I suggest to stick to fiction on your Kindle as the transfers are pretty good. However, when it comes to books with maps and pictures, I am a history buff, the Kindle can be pretty awful. Let us all know how you get on with it. Always enjoy your vlogs.

One thing I really like about the Kindle is that you could install the app on other devices, like your phone or laptop or iPad. So if you don’t have your Kindle, and you need to read, it’s all synchronized. like tonight, I left my Kindle down in my car and I really don’t want to go down there and get it. So I can continue reading on my iPad. Very cool.

Murakami is definitely not for me. I went to a used bookshop yesterday and got four modern classics. One of them is the centennial edition of East of Eden and I am thrilled to have found it, because that was the edition I wanted. I'm not sure when I'll read it, but probably before the year is out. Regarding Strange & Norrell, I’d recommend having physical and digital, or digital and audio. I tried using an ebook (my copy was mass market and super tiny) BUT the Libby version does not have the footnotes where you can read them, at least not anywhere that I could figure it out for over 1000 pages. The audiobook reads them to you, but some of the footnotes are long and it’s easy to get lost in the main story. The footnotes are important even though some of them feel super tedious, so just keep that in mind!!

Did you buy an ebook or use the Libby version? I couldn’t figure out how to find the footnotes on Libby, but maybe if I’d bought it from kindle or something like that I would’ve had them easier? The footnotes are such a huge part of the story and I found myself going back to the physical copy to read them so I wasn’t missing anything.

You know 1Q84 was originally published in 3 installments and when it was finished and first came out in paperback there was a box set all with matching covers before the publishers decided to print it in one volume. I managed to find an unopened copy of that edition on alibris which is great because I'm not a fan of big paperbacks. I think big hardbacks are somewhat bad because they're heavy, but big paperbacks are worse because they won't stay open and the spine cracks and looks ugly when you've finished reading it, ughh.
