It was so satisfying to see you unhaul the reverse harem just because you realised that trope is definitely not for you. Watching youtubers explain all the different tropes throughout the years has really helped me pin down what I do and don't like in a story. My shelves and reading experience have really benefited from that.
It is unnecessary how invested in this series I am. You are making such good progress, as opposed to me. Every time I check my progress I’m stuck at like 35ish% read on my physical tbr 😅
I love watching people discover and learn omegaverse for the first time. It's always so funny seeing people's reactions and trying to understand it with great confusion and worry. It's defo not for everyone 🤣 Also, thank you for another installment of one of my fav booktube series. And I love the spaceship bookmark you have!
Definitely one of the tropes one should research before buying a book with it as the main premise. It never ceases to astound me that something that, to my knowledge, started as a smutty inc*sty Supernatural fanfiction, made it to regular publishing 😂
❤️ this vlog series so much! ❤️ It's so good to get to know what works for you & what doesn't! 💯 I was OBSESSED with the Broken Bonds series! 😍 Very successful time!
If you have any more Laurell K Hamilton on your shelves I suggest unhauling them as all of her books are reverse harem other than her book "A Terrible Fall of Angels"
No, I didn't fast forward to see how you liked The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy because i so loved it. Currently working slowly thru The Undermining of Twyla and Frank. I just love how quirky these books are.
Hart and Mercy has been my biggest surprise this year, got it from the library normal fiction shelf for an easy read, did not expect to fall in love with the characters and the world. Can't wait to get the next one.
I am so excited that you loved, The Undertaking of Heart and Mercy. It was one of my top two reads last year and I hear no one talking about it. Just like you, I found some holes, but the overall story just captured my heart. ⚰️ 💜
THANNNK YOUUU! I have the adult Fairyloot edition of The Undertaking of Hart & Mercy … I’ve cancelled my membership but I’m SO HAPPY that you mentioned that the second book was in the Treasure Trove 💜💜💜 purchased! Thank you so much!
God i waited on the edge of my seat all month got this, I was PUMPED when this dropped 🎉🎉🎉 such a satisfying series, and it inspired me to tackle my own floor stacks similarily too!! (Not making content lol just for myself!)
I am exactly the same way with running. I found the only way to make myself run is to have a goal. I usually sign up for a 5k or a 10k every few months, that way it makes me train! find a small little race in your town and sign up, then you have that goal to work forward to
Undertaking of hart and mercy has been on my shelves a while. I bought it because a epic fantasy girl loved it. I'm more excited about it now. The setting sounds very steampunk.
I am exactly like you with reading, I need the setting to make sense and I need to be able to visualise the world for things to make sense! I also agree with you on smut, my book has to have a plot alongside the smut. If the book is smut oriented and everything else is given way to smut I will likely not like it. Loved this vlog as always!
I haven't read Delilah Green yet, but i did read Astrid Parker last year and it was one of my favorite books of the year. It also was one of the two books that made me cry last year. SO good!
The Vanished Birds is one of my favorite books of all time, and probably my favorite sci-fi, but I'm always so scared to see other people read it because it seems like they always feel really middle of the road about it 😭 it kind of makes me worry that I won't enjoy his second book since everyone who doesn't hugely care for this one seems to really like that one (so I guess statistically it might be worth it for you to give that one a shot lol!)
Vanished birds is my second fav book of all time ... my first being spear cuts through water!!! Deffo worth a read, if you liked vanished birds for the writing style and the playing with form then I think you will like spear. It also has more going on plot wise than vanished birds too, and the whole world feels even richer and more emersive :)
I had very very similar thoughts and feelings about The Vanished Birds but I LOVED The Spear Cuts Through Water. He leveled up. And I loooved the characters in that book in a way I didn't love them in Vanished Birds.
FINALLY HAVE TIME TO WATCH!!! Ooooo title has me intrigued 😕👀 Slay with that unhauling, life is too short to read things you don't feel drawn to!!! I totally thought Undertaking was a Victorian/historical setting lol.
glad you decided to try out the Broken Bonds series because it has me in a choke hold right now and I am dying to see your take on it. especially since it is not your usual cup of tea.
Great to see you back in another episode of this series. Kathryn Moon is pretty good at this sort of writing. I demolished an entire series that she wrote within a short while. I don’t understand the whole alpha and beta bit tbh but luckily the series I read didn’t push the alpha and beta thing.
I loved The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy.... Which was a surprise. Have the Frank and Twyla one sitting on my shelves but not sure I'm currently in a romance mood so putting it off for now. I'm hoping I love it as much
I have read the brightfalls trilogy, and I would say the second one in the series was actually my favorite! You said you were possibly interested in continuing the series, so I just wanted to let you know that the one about Astrid is soooo good, even better the first.
So invested in your shelve it or scrap it journey!! ❤ Ooo if you liked vanished birds for writing style and thought provoking themes i think you might like the spear cuts through water too, there is also more plotting that happens in spear in comparion :)
I have Delilah green waiting for me on my shelf and I do like a good romance I think I’ll have a good time with it! And I do like grief as a key theme and it sounds like it is going to do that element well. I’m looking forward to seeing what I think.
If you want to visit an independent bookstore in San Diego I recommend Mysterious Galaxy. I think they’ll be at Comic Con too. I love this vlog series so much I always look forward to watching them 💗
Fully agree about the Christina Henry Red Riding Hood book, I hated the ending so much. I think people over use "open endings" just because they don't want to commit to an ending. There are very few things that benefit from open endings (like the movie inception, it fits the narrative). Most of the time it's just lazy.
The only reverse harem I’ve liked is Taming the Wolves. It’s historical with Vikings & Saxons and veeeeery slow burn (like, the rh is hinted at and still not completely effective at the end of book two), which gives so much room for character work and is definitely why it works for me. It has omega verse elements but none of the ones I usually find so aggravating + has twists like fhe « Omega » have powers that give them command on the other types. Very highly recommend it, it’s such a great series and has novellas as part of it !
Right when you said The Dare is a reverse harem novella you liked; I think you should check out Scream for Us and Melt for us. Two novellas like The Dare; but the 3 men are based off Ghostface, Michael, and Jason.
I loved Lost Boy! I thought it was great. But knowing your taste and your experience with her other books, I don't think you'd llike it. So I think you made a good choice unhauling it!
I had a very similar experience with Undertaking of Hart and Mercy. Was very meh and then at some point it just sucked me in and by the time I was done I needed book 2 immediately.
I love your channel, and I think this series is great. I have added many books to my tbr because of this series, so thank you for that 😂. I’m sure it was from one of your earlier videos, but you mentioned wolfsong. I can’t remember if you have read it? If you have, could you point me in the direction of the video, as I would love to know what you think.
it's so weird seeing people getting introduced to omegaverse for the first time (mainly thru bride) and being immediately discouraged. as a girlie growing up on watty and ao3 that shit was the no. 2 pillar holding up my life from ages 13 to 18 and is still a 'comfort' genre i go back to from time to time when reality starts getting to me. maybe it's bc the online fanfic scene got more popular with gen z so many millenials are getting the first little peak into that world through the first trad published book that got popular at an older age so they're not as impressionable or something but as a teenager i know me and my friends were eating that upp
Love watching this series! Unsure if you’ve already read it but I think I saw Hate by Tate James on your shelves upstairs. I haven’t read it but I’m pretty sure that series is reverse harem ❤️
You could just replace the three skinny romance bookcases with one Billy, if your hallway is wide enough - you'd get extra shelf space from not having the vertical partitions.
Becca are you be chance selling Delilah Green's book I've been searching high and low for the special edition and would be interested and purchasing it.
As someone whose favorite books are the dare and the losers, if you liked the dare, but don’t like reverse harem I would not recommend you read the losers it is very spicy and “in your face” I would say and you will absolutely hate it.
Hey y’all I need some quick help! I’m going to a used book store with one of my friends tomorrow. What should I get? Something from 2022 or older becuse it’s used so new books most likely won’t be there. No spice and only straight couples please. I like fantasy, sci-fi, and dystopian the most but I’ll read anything that’s not horror, classics, nonfiction or literary fiction.
An interesting video - I hate reverse harem (and harem) and omegaverse also I did find Patricia Briggs werewolf paranormal OK even if it was omegaverse

aaron is shockingly good at recommending books, no matter if she hated it, loved it or was indifferent about it 😂
I’m sat
It is unnecessary how invested in this series I am. You are making such good progress, as opposed to me. Every time I check my progress I’m stuck at like 35ish% read on my physical tbr 😅
To me the key for me keeping a book is will I read it again.
Same
This is currently my favorite video series on booktube I am absolutely loving it I have watched every episode. Thank you Becca!
I use an app called Zombies, Run to keep walking/running interesting. It tells a story and there are side missions. Otherwise running is so dull to me
I love this app so much!
The whole time I was reading The Vanished Birds I thought I was going to give it a solid three stars. Then the last sentence just destroyed me.
I love watching people discover and learn omegaverse for the first time. It's always so funny seeing people's reactions and trying to understand it with great confusion and worry. It's defo not for everyone 🤣

As you're describing your initial feelings on The Undertaking and thinking "just wait". 😂
Hart and Mercy has been my biggest surprise this year, got it from the library normal fiction shelf for an easy read, did not expect to fall in love with the characters and the world. Can't wait to get the next one.
I loved Hart and Mercy! And the grief part broke me, I read this 2 years after my dad died so I was a big sobbing mess haha
I am so excited that you loved, The Undertaking of Heart and Mercy. It was one of my top two reads last year and I hear no one talking about it. Just like you, I found some holes, but the overall story just captured my heart. ⚰️ 💜
Immediately clicked on this notification!!
Cheer~~~place or arrange (items, especially books) on a shelf.😊
This was so satisfying, seeing that many books get shelved or unhauled 👌🏻
I like the unhauling parts B) that is mostly why I am here XD
THANNNK YOUUU!
I have the adult Fairyloot edition of The Undertaking of Hart & Mercy … I’ve cancelled my membership but I’m SO HAPPY that you mentioned that the second book was in the Treasure Trove 💜💜💜 purchased! Thank you so much!
I love this series so much ugh
Loving the unhaul energy! Also obsessed with this series ❤️🙌
this video was extremely satisfying. I'm sooooo excited for next month's installment!

Applauding the ruthless unhauling!

I remember Kayla from Booksandlala felt meh about both so there's still hope you'll love both!
@@BA-hm6fcfingers crossed lol, it's been staring me down from my shelf for months now waiting for me to pick it up

So happy that you enjoyed Hart & Mercy, I really loved it too, plus it reminded me that the sequel just came out and I need to continue 😂
I'm currently working my way through the Broken Bonds series, and it is really plot heavy, I'm enjoying it so much more than I thought I would.
Whew !!! Time to make a latte and a snack !!! Love this series
FINALLY HAVE TIME TO WATCH!!! Ooooo title has me intrigued 😕👀 Slay with that unhauling, life is too short to read things you don't feel drawn to!!! I totally thought Undertaking was a Victorian/historical setting lol.
I love that you still gave RH 2 more shots, before deciding though.
glad you decided to try out the Broken Bonds series because it has me in a choke hold right now and I am dying to see your take on it. especially since it is not your usual cup of tea.
I'm so happy you liked Hart&Mercy Becca, I really loved it too! 🥰 And the thumbnail for this video is so cool! 🤩
Loving this series!! So excited for a new ep!!

Hart & Mercy is one of my favorite books ever. It was so cute. But you kind of have to take the setting as is and not question it too much 😂
I just finished my book and was looking for something to do while I did some chores. This is perfect timing 🎉
Love this series!!
Favorite booktuber
Oh hart & mercy was one of my favorite books of last year! I reread it this year. Oh the autoducks is cause the cars can travel on water!
you & i are the saaamee about knotting lmaoo
Love these❤❤❤❤
This was a fun episode again! ❤

Thank you for the movie-length reading vlog!
Nice work,lady!!
I myself am a huge monster smut lover but OmegaVerse is just not my thing. I totally get your points.
I loved Lost Boy! I thought it was great. But knowing your taste and your experience with her other books, I don't think you'd llike it. So I think you made a good choice unhauling it!
i definitely think you should give the rest of bright falls a shot! i thought shes gotten better with each book :)
Gasp you have the edition of Delilah Green that can't be found anywhere on the secondary market! 😮
another successful round ! 🔥
I dnf'd the undertaking of hart and mercy early on, should I try again? 😂
Oh my gosh, Reign and Ruin by JD Evans is so good! I agree with Aaron 😀
Yeah a new episode 🎉
I loved this episode x
The Undertaking of Hart & Mercy sounds very convoluted
I had a very similar experience with Undertaking of Hart and Mercy. Was very meh and then at some point it just sucked me in and by the time I was done I needed book 2 immediately.
You’d need to knock the stack down to 40-30 😓 before another haul to fit the year mark.
Lost Boy is definitely her best book, but I get it
Maybe you need a new goal for your running. Like a distance goal. Or maybe sign up for a running event?
I think not understanding the world in The Undertaking of Hart & Mercy would be really hard for me too.
Do you think you’ll do a massive bookshelf reorganization at the end of this challenge? I’m so curious if it would open up space in some areas
on the first number randomizer i was so sad you were 1 book away from Spin the Dawn bc i really love that book XD
nonetheless, great video!!
I love your channel, and I think this series is great. I have added many books to my tbr because of this series, so thank you for that 😂. My hallways are narrow which is why I have the ones I do. It’s DVD shelving which I prefer because it’s half the depth of a bookshelf
@BeccaandTheBooks ah, that's a shame. Ikea are really missing a trick by not making a shallow version of the Billy!
I’m currently reading a reverse harem from Kathryn moon too and it’s not for me lmao. At least now I know.
When you get a high number like 47, count backwards from 68, will be faster
Just wondering, where’s the print behind your couch from?
Queen takes Knights is pure smut. And very over the top with the blood.
59:55 could it be a steampunk setting of sorts? Maybe?
I don't like reverse harem either and I've read the J Bree series. The first couple was ok but as it goes on the harem aspect is more centre stage.
I'm so sad that you unhauled lost boys. I'm not a big fan of Christina Henry. I did not like her alice books. But I loved lost boys.
Laurell K Hamilton only writes reverse harem
Edit I see you unhauled one of her books
Becca are you be chance selling Delilah Green's book I've been searching high and low for the special edition and would be interested and purchasing it.
So Delilah is a Cinderella retelling? I recently purchased it but had no idea about the plot lol.
As someone whose favorite books are the dare and the losers, if you liked the dare, but don’t like reverse harem I would not recommend you read the losers it is very spicy and “in your face” I would say and you will absolutely hate it.
